Great place. Nice ponds. Great camp sites. Close to the highway. Not in the mountains. Can get warm. But awesome location to see Boulder, Fort Collins, and Denver. Rangers nice. (The proximity to the highway is the only reason I might go 4/5 stars. But consider, that may be the reason to stay here - if you want to get out on the way elsewhere).

Close to major travel corridors so an easy on/off. Can frequently hear I-25 traffic, although not terribly loud. Plenty of camping spots for tents and RVs (several loops; some closed in the Winter). Decent collection of trails around the numerous ponds. Lots of birds frequent the area, including multiple species of ducks, geese, cranes, egrets, herons, wading birds, pelicans, gulls, and bald eagles. Ponds are frequently stocked with various species of game fish with plenty of year-round fishing opportunities (ice fishing in the Winter when the ice is 4+ inches thick).

I stayed at a nice level site on Bald Eagle Loop 14 days. Large sites with paving right on the water is a big plus, but mine had a western exposure so avoid that for a summer stay. The only negative was the noise pollution from the highway, which could be addressed. I wasn’t even that close to it but it was still loud.

Above average RV sites with a lot of space between sites and quite a few sit right on a pond. Trails are plentiful and the park is very clean. No visitor center and no dog park that we saw. My rating is due to the constant road noise from I-25 which is literally in your “backyard” and it’s 24/7/365. It nullifies the beauty of the location. If you’re looking for RV sites to access Denver try Cherry Creek or Chatfield State Parks. There is some road noise at both however much less than at St. Vrain State Park - and we can say this having been at both, camping, the past two weekends (Sept of 2023).

Nice and relaxing spot for kayaking. Just try to ignore the noise from Hwy 119. Somehow, the birds manage it! Upd - 7-27-23: Still as wonderful as last year. We were only there for a one-day pass. The campgrounds were full, and there seemed to be a little more noise than last time (makes sense). Pelicans, blue herons, and even a big old turtle who made a quick disappearance. Still love the place, though!

Great state park (expect to pay a daily entrance fee if you don’t have a park pass) with plenty of lakes to fish for warm water species year round and trout during the colder months. Decent place to try out ice fishing at one of the smaller stocked ponds.

It’s an okay State Park. I been to a better State Park. I gave it a 3 star because it’s a good place to be under the tree nature watching - the lake, different birds, fish (wish I brought my fishing pole). If you like fishing and camping it’s a place for you. The smell of the fire wood is very calming even in a 90 degree weather. It has trails too, but not in a hot weather, too open. Lots of site for the RV’s. The side (where the RV’s are) is too noisy, from all the cars from the highway. The side after coming in the entrance (on the right) is quiet. It has a lot of ponds, lakes but not a big place.

St Vrain State Park is about 20 mi east of Boulder CO and east of Longmont . The only reason I gave a 4 rating is because its right up against I 25 and there’s constant freeway traffic and noise. Also development has also creeped right up against the park so at night it’s not a dark sky and there’s plenty of commercial lights . That said, otherwise its a birders paradise. All the ponds and marshes host many water birds, migrating birds and resident birds. Saw lots of red winged blackbirds and an eagle as soon as we arrived as well many ducks too far away to identify. The campsites are nice w/ concrete parking pads and gravel area w/ picnic table and fire pit. Many of the picnic tables have an aluminum windbreak / shade structure. On our loop ( Pelican) there was a bldg w/ pit toilets but a short distance away is the heated bath house w/ hot showers and flush toilets. The hiking trails are nice and you can also bike on them. They connect with the Weld County trail system. The many lakes allow fishing and that seemed very popular. This is pricey as far as state parks go- $35/ night for an electric site plus an addtl $10 / day for the daily park pass. Most state parks include the daily pass w/ campsite fees.

A small park with several lakes, walking/biking trails, and plenty of camp sites. The main covered restrooms amd showers were well maintained. The building also has an indoor picnic area. Camp sites have a picnic table with an awning, fire pit, electrical box, and parking pad. Fresh water is located near multiple sites. The park is right next to I25, so there is a lot of highway noise if you camp on the east side. But being so close to town means you're not far from a lot of modern conviences (food, shopping, gas, etc.)

Great place to bring any type of RV. There are a large number of electric sites and a few with full hookups. The majority of electric sites have a water spigot (not for hooking up to). The many ponds are perfect for kayaking. An endless variety of waterfowl abound. The stocked ponds contain a handful of different fish species, though fishing rules and licenses apply. Additionally, the picnic tables each have a metal roof. We stayed at Site 22, which was perfect. Site 22 is especially nice for kayakers as there is an unofficial launching area next to it. However, it is pretty close to Interstate 25, so if noise is an issue, it would be a good idea to camp farther into the campground. For $36.00 a night and less than an hour from Denver, this is a fantastic bargain for anyone seeking a flatland camping experience east of the Rockies.

We drove up from Southern Colorado to do a little ice fishing. This is the only place I've ever seen rescue rings in case someone falls through the ice. There is ample parking and vault toilets and lots of ponds to choose from. Happy fishing!

This facility is well-run, and effective human planning makes it so much easier to relax and enjoy Mother Nature's beauty! The sites are spacious, with easily accessible hook-ups and a cover over the picnic table that gives some relief from son and rain, but even more importantly offers protection from the strong winds that tend to come in the evenings. There is only one building with showers and it isn't in walking distance for many, but they are clean with great pressure and temperature, hooks, a bench, and place to set my shampoo. However, if you are a walker there are plenty of trails and bodies of water to enjoy. The other guests were mellow and pleasant, too. There are also a lot of shops, good food, and other amenities available nearby. Overall a great experience.

Clean camping spots. The highway noise isn't a big deal. Ignore the posts saying so. Full hookups are great. Price is right. Spots are concrete and level. Repeat customer.

Nice place for a day. But right along a hwy. Noisy, but great for getting back on the road & for a pit stop. Not great for a vacation spot. Public bathrooms were really dirty for only being early afternoon. Went last year & that is a change I saw this time. Much cleaner last year.

Cute little State park with easy access from I-25. Great fishing and camping opportunities with well maintained facilities and full RV hookups. If you’re looking for a long hike nature immersion experience, St. Vrain may not be your jam. We walked around Pelican Lake, enjoyed the fantastic views of Longs Peak, and had a lovely picnic under a Cottonwood tree. We’ll be back when we’re ready to teach the kiddos how to fish.

St. Vrain State Park is an amazing place to go visit if you want to see some awesome wildlife. You'll see Bald Eagles, Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, and so many other amazing birds there. It's also a great place if you just want to go for a nature walk. I definitely recommend visiting this park!

I had a great experience, the sunsets were beautiful and my site was close to clean bathrooms and showers you didn't have to pay extra for. My only suggestion would be to book something further away from the highway, the road noise was loud, but that was my fault for not realizing the site was on that side of the park.

Nice park with tons of trails and plenty of lakes and ponds to enjoy. I have the state park pass so I didn’t pay directly for entry, but I think it’s worth a visit just to enjoy some nature in relative peace (not a ton of people around on a beautiful 70 degree day). It is near the highways though, so car noise is a thing but it wasn’t too bad overall. A nice place to spend a few hours.

Bikers beware! Not sure if this a seasonal issue but three of my children's bikes had flat tires the second day. I replaced tubes and sent them out, only to have two more flats. Closer inspection I found tiny thorn like objects stuck in the tires. Multiple pinholes in the tubes. I decided to go for a walk along the pond side trails for investigation. After returning I found thorn like seeds stuck in my sandals. They appear to be from water side flora. As i said, maybe it's a seasonal thing where the seeds are shedding. All the bikes are mountain bikes but a few with crossover tires. Sticking to the main dirt roads would probably alleviate any issues, but then you're missing the views! The overall location of the park is right next to I25 and another major highway. There was traffic noise and you can see multiple gas station and convenience store signs looming above the tree line. This doesn't necessarily bother me, but it certainly didn't match the usual state park setting I'm accustomed to. I think other sections of the park would be less affected and more secluded. Beyond that, it's a large park with multiple stocked ponds/reservoirs for fishing and boating. We stayed in an RV on the coot pond loop. We had a spacious site with full hookups, great water pressure and a picnic table. The "sun" shade built around the table hardly did anything for us. it isn't oriented correctly to block the sun. It appears that the sites were built as a cookie cutter design.

The Denver area is surprisingly lacking in the number of RV parks. Our daughter lives north of Denver and when we come into town with our RV this is about as close as we can get and it’s a 30 minute drive. 40-45 minutes to Denver. The full hookup sites are on the south side of the park and there are no trees for shade and it lacks grass. The north side, where we stayed this time, has shade trees and grass but there are no full hook up sites. The park is clean and well maintained. There were a lot of people fishing in the ponds. The staff working at the gate were friendly and the pricing is fair. You do, however, have to pay $10 extra, DAILY, to even be in the park (on top of your RV rental cost).

Would be five star but all the rain has been great for mosquitoes. Also some loops are too close to interstate. Otherwise a great place with variety of fish, wildlife and people.

Very pretty area with all the ponds around it and quiet for being close to i25. Not much for hiking, but for someone who struggles with elevation changes this would be a great area to walk. Personally, I wish there was a little more to do, but worth a visit and a repeat stay for sure.

I am a dog walker, it's nice to walk around the ponds. It can get crowded at the weekends year round, but especially in spring-fall with RV camping. It is next to the interstate, but as a local, I am glad to have a park of this size - and the views!!@

👍👍 Very large park in north Firestone. Has ball fields, soccer nets, volleyball net, 2 pavilions, 2 play structures. And a lot of grass. The base for the play structures is wood chips. Both have covered aspects and swings. Each swing set has a paired ADA-style swing- one for toddlers and the other for...
