I was holding off on posting this review but since I find reviews incredibly helpful when making decisions I feel I should share. My husband made a reservation for Mothers Day lunch and had specified that we would like to sit in front of the big window facing the lake. He was told that it is first come first serve that they would make note. On the day of the reservation we were the first people at the restaurant and the man that walked us in brought us to a side window. My husband asked if we could sit in front of the large window since it’s what we had requested and no one else was in the restaurant. He became visibly angry at us and stated “I can not rearrange my entire seating chart!” he would not sit us there and was so visibly angry that we didn’t know how to proceed. The rest of our time there the wait staff was cold and inattentive. He kept giving us dirty looks which made us incredibly uncomfortable. Our food was good but the entire experience was overshadowed by the fact that we were stuck in a corner and ignored. He ruined my Mothers Day. My husband felt poorly about the situation and my children were saddened to watch me be mistreated on my special day. I reached out to the restaurant via private email and they were apologetic but nothing was ever resolved as the communication seemed to go on and on with them asking for my phone number. Life being busy I have just moved on. I hope that they have since communicated with this individual and that no one else has an experience like ours. It’s unfortunate as we have enjoyed dining there for two decades.

We loved our stay at the Hopkins inn and plan to return in the future. We were greated as soon as we walked in to check in and had another staff help us to our room. The room was spacious and just as I expected from reading the description. We stayed in room 9 which has its own private entrance. The bathroom is down the hall but no one else is around so it doesn’t interfere with privacy. It was nice to have a box fan available to use. The views from the room were nice and even being right above the dining area it wasn’t very loud just at night if the windows are open. Highly recommend staying here!

My wife and I had dinner there last night and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Andrea was our server and she was terrific. The food was delicious and the views were unmatched. We enjoyed every minute. Do yourself a favor and eat outside, you won't be disappointment.

Everyone in our area knows that Hopkins is the go-to place for a memorable (or romantic) outing. The patio is reminiscent of Europe overlooking the beautiful Lake Waramaug. I've found no other venue quite so relaxing and scenic away from the seashore. Go enjoy the Austrian cuisine whenever the weather permits and I promise, you will return. Thank you, faithful management.

Made a reservation to stay at the inn from Friday through Sat. I was told there would be a king size bed in the room. When I got to the room (room 18) it was a full size bed. The room also had a musty smell. After 5 hours of driving, I just wanted to go out and get something to eat so I left the room and went out. When I came back, the room was hot and there was no thermostat so I decided to look in the closet to see if there was a fan. When I opened the closet door, there was mold in the closet from what appeared to have been a leak. The room was not up to standards and there was no way I was going to stay in there breathing in mold. The inn had no rooms available and I had to check out at around 9pm and find somewhere else to stay about 40 mins away. I was not refunded any money nor did the inn keeper even reach out to me to discuss the situation.

Loved it. We had a front room with lovely view of lake. Had dinner and breakfast. Both meals were excellent, though a tad pricey.

Wonderful view of the lake from the dining area. We kayaked at the lake and went to the Hopkins Inn for dinner. Their German beer was great. We had stroganoff and chicken cordon blue. Both were excellent. Service was incredible with almost the entire staff stopped by to make sure that our dining experience was perfect. Dessert menu all looked delicious. We had chocolate mousse which was super creamy and chocolate sundae was outstanding. Cappuccino was also delicious too. This is my favorite restaurant!

We were fortunate enough to be invited here by a local couple. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. Everything from casino clams, The Black Angus Sirloin Steak and my Apple strudel were fantastic. Amazing views and wonderful service. The garlic bread and the Potato Rosti were amazing too. Plenty of parking.

Wonderful restaurant, beautiful view, outstanding food and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Highly recommend for the perfect dining experience.

Family was staying at Inn and we met for dinner. We had a large group and Josh took good care of us. Drinks, dinner, dessert, plus refills were delivered in a timely manner. Food was delicious. Loved the house dressing and fresh bread

For a second you can forget that you are in Connecticut and not in Austria, the lake views are more than great, the cuisine is authentic Austrian , the stuff is very attentive and wears typical Tirol outfit . We love the place and come here year around.
