We stayed two nights and it was excellent. The hotel sits far enough away from the highway, so no noise. The rooms are fresh, clean and smell good when you walk in. The bathroom was SO clean, had all your needs, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, mouth wash, makeup remover, soap etc. The king bed was amazing, as was the bedding. Again, very clean! Emily was amazing at helping us book our second night, we have to mention her! We did not try the breakfast, but the coffee station was great! Highly recommend this location in Ames!

I have to say, The staff at this facility is second to no one!!!!. I had accidentally made my reservation for the wrong date. They changed it for me and upgraded my room also. I asked the young lady that checked me in if there was a pepsi machine. I could not find one and an hour later they came to my room with a diet mnt. dew and some chocolate candy. The room is clean the staff is fantastic. I can not say enough how much I appreciate the service provided!!! Great job folks

Mattress was really firm. We had to ask the front desk for towels, as they were not restocked from the previous occupants. Location is great, easy in and out from major highways, and easy drive to South Duff for restaurants and stores. Breakfast was ok. They had waffles, eggs, bacon, cereals, yogurt and fruit. Would have liked a few more hot options, but overall it was good.

Clean well priced, nice pool - friendly helpful staff. I particularly loved the breakfast! There are different hot foods available every day as well as lots of choices. Theresa who manages the breakfast makes sure area is spotless, that food is kept well and is a good example of the people of Iowa- nice, practical and helpful

When I first walked in the younger girl at the desk was telling her boyfriend goodbye and making annoyed eye contact with us, for disturbing her. I then was locked in the pool bathroom due to the door not closing properly. Thank god I had my Apple Watch to make a call. When I finally got out to enjoy the hot tub I asked the front desk associate where the jet button was she informed my group that the jets did not work. I’m very dissatisfied and will never come back again. I’ll be requesting a refund immediately.

We read the reviews before booking our one night stay & this hotel had nice posts about them, so that was why we chose it. We got inside the hotel & the lobby was cute. Not going to be too hard on the fact that the hotel is very outdated in areas & definitely needs some TLC…or possibly new carpet. We got to the door of our room & right in front of it was a huge old stain, which ok, whatever, no big deal. We get inside the room & from first looks, it was nice & clean. Sure, the carpet was snagged & there were SO many old stains, but the linens were white & smelt clean. Gunna go ahead & spare some details & say, the bathroom was the cleanest area in the entire room. Morning rolled around & we were packing our things on the cart and noticed something behind the bench that we thought we may have dropped…nope. They were dirty, hairy socks from whomever had the room before us 🤢 We walked out of our room to check out (thankfully) and noticed dirty, used towels were laying right in front of our room. I am aware that these might be minor hiccups, but expecting a clean room for the price we pay is a minimum requirement to me.

It is getting older, and I have noticed more wear and tear on the furniture and carpeting. They have a great swimming pool and hot tub though. It does get loud in the pool area with all of the kids -earplugs are not a bad idea :)

We stayed one night as part of a little get away with 2 of our kids after being cooped up due to the recent brutal cold. Our short stay was wonderful. Room was very clean, kids had a great time in the pool (hot tub jets weren't working but the tub was still hot and relaxing so we didn't mind,) all staff we interacted with were helpful, kind and attentive. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast and the attendant did a great job keeping everything stocked despite how busy it was on a Sunday morning. Raj checked us out in the morning and was very kind and professional. We will absolutely stay here again.

Traveler beware!! I have stayed at this location twice and both times they double billed my credit card! Unfortunately, the first time I did not catch it and they got away with it. This last time, when my husband checked out and we requested a printed statement, he was told that the printer was broken. He was told that the invoice was being sent to my phone. I never received anything on my phone. When my credit card statement arrived, I saw that the hotel had posted two charges for a one night stay. I called them to discuss the extra charge and they told me that I had only been charged once. There were clearly two charges posted and I had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. In the end, the extra charge was credited back to my account. I understand that mistakes can occur but I find it extremely suspect that the mistake happened two times on two different stays.

We were traveling from Nebraska to Wisconsin and stayed here one night. We had a beautiful King Suite with whirlpool. The staff was friendly, the lobby warm and welcoming, and the price was excellent. I highly recommend it. Keep up the good work, Country Inn and Suites!

Was in town for a wedding and had a flawless stay at this hotel. Great breakfast bar: eggs, bacon, waffles, and fresh fruit! Add 2 hard-working Country Inn employees who kept the food coming and the tables fastidiously CLEAN! Did I say BACON? Lots of bacon..... Nice place to spend a weekend.

We stayed here for one night, and it was absolutely horrible. I had paid for the King Whirlpool Suite. This is the ONLY reason I chose to stay here. No other reason. I was never notified over told that they changed my room. Upon check in they must have changed my room. So once I stepped into the room I was surprised and disappointed. I immediately reached out to corporate to see if they could help me out. I have not heard back from them. I was given an extended suite so they could try to make up for their mistake? Honestly, the rooms are old, the hotel is old. They obviously don’t care about their customers. Since they think I would be fine with a different room. What a nasty tactic. I would have continued driving towards Minneapolis had I known I would be receiving a different room. At least a phone call or email would have been nice. Then I could have cancelled before the non refundable period. I checked the reservation the day off to make sure of the details. It still said whirlpool suite. Then magically once I get there and in the room is says otherwise. 0/5. I want a refund. Bait and switch. Update: The GM reached out and said that it came through as an extended suite on their end. Which it didn’t since I have the emails to back up what was booked. I sent over the email proving that they switched my booking to a different room. No response back. Why would I lie about the room I booked and your website showed when I searched my reservation? This adds to the disappointment. Stay far away from this hotel. Keep driving and stay at any of the other hotels in the area.

I liked this place a lot. I have stayed 20 or so places this trip, this was my favorite. It has a little water that is near it and real nice to sit by and relax. The room was the Jacuzzi Suite and just great! Clean and nice location.

The facility is in need of a refresh. Great breakfast! Room was clean enough but furniture was worn. Just getting a little bit shabby. For the price was disappointed that room was to be service "once every 3 days." We only stayed 2 nights so had no real problem with that.

Great hotel for a quick trip with the kids. Breakfast, rooms, and swimming pool were all nice. And the staff is very nice. No problems, we will stay here again.

service front desk phenomenal, kind and personable. We have stayed twice now the first time the room was great and was clean as could be. 2nd time the bathroom could have been cleaned better as someone left there hair all over the shower wall and it was missed. Breakfast the first morning was bare and only thing available was a waffle machine and bread items. Eggs and protein were out. The second time breakfast was killer and the attendant was on top of it doing a wonderful job. We will stay again the pool is open til midnight, the kids love it and lots of table and chairs to sit at while they swim. Pool room is nice and warm and keeps the little ones from freezing.

I stayed here for 2 nights. I've always liked Country Inn & Suites as I'm part of their membership program. However my 1st full day here I called the front desk and asked them if they could come into the room and pick up the towels and give us fresh ones and then I also told her when we checked in last night and went into our restroom that the floor was sticky. Asked her if that could be cleaned. She said she would let someone know. Well it's later afternoon now and no one has ever come. I am disappointed to say the least. Otherwise the room is fine, the bed is comfortable, there is a large size TV, and a nice writing desk.

I booked a night here, then had to cancel. I accidentally canceled another upcoming trip without realizing it until I got my credit card statement. When I called weeks later, the manager was so nice and accomodating. Great place to stay and great people. Close to ISU, too! Hightly recommend!

Hot tub pump broken. Needs new carpet especially in hallways. Breakfast was good. Game weekend $225/night seemed steep. Parking lot should be resurfaced

I stayed here for 2 days while visiting my son at Iowa State. The staff here was very friendly. The manager Emily was very nice to talk with when we checked in. She helped with questions we had on the hotel and area. Theresa who manages the breakfast makes sure the area was spotless. There were different hot foods available every day as well as lots of choices. The breakfast area was very busy and she keep it so clean and keep the food full. I have stayed at different hotels in the area and I will be coming back to this location. We will see you next time I am in Ames.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Unfortunate that the rooms we were assigned weren't clean but promptly changed them with no hassle! Breakfast is pretty good and a quiet atmosphere. Rooms were clean and spacious!!

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was so clean and the rooms were clean and cool and smelt fresh. Breakfast was good and the indoor pool was great too. It was also very quiet. Price is right also. Definitely stay here.

This is a great hotel. The staff were so helpful, very clean and spacious rooms. Good breakfast every morning. Big indoor pool and my favorite part was seeing out front in the rocking chairs. Booked another stay already.

Check in was smooth, room was clean, and breakfasts met our needs. Unfortunately some improvements are needed. The room had a strong musty smell and the air was very humid. I checked the air filter on the AC the first night and it was quite dirty so I cleaned it myself. The beds were not comfortable. They seemed worn out as they had noticeable lumps. What was most disappointing was that the hotel sent an automated text message the first morning asking me to rate my initial experience and upon me giving them a 4/10, they asked for more feedback. I gave all of the feedback above and they text back a couple times saying they would respond but never did. That just amplified my disappointment. If I was in a pinch I'd stay there again but would rather pay more and stay at one of the other several hotels on the same street.

What a Great Place. Raj greeted us with a friendly and helpful smile. Everything was clean and fresh. Rooms were open and airy. Very comfortable and clean beds and bedding. Theresa is wonderful in the breakfast area. Lots of good food and clean tables. Fresh scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy and fresh made waffles. This IS the place to stay in Ames.

I enjoyed the hotel. Just stayed overnight but the staff was extremely accommodating. Check in and out staff was friendly. The room was clean, cool and comfortable. The shower was clean and had good pressure. The breakfast was delicious and the server was friendly. Definitely planning on staying there again next time I come to town!

Wonderful experience! We were traveling with our paraplegic adult son. It is often a challenge getting a safe/comfortable room. The staff made our stay great. Property was modern and clean. The breakfast had a good selection, including waffles. Would recommend!

Horrible experience with the overnight auditor. Argued with me regarding the parking. Refused to show us where we could park since 5 trucks with trailers took up almost all the spots. When I told him “I will be writing a negative review” he replied “awesome thank you”. Complete jerk. We will not be staying here again and will be contacting corporate. Not to mention to musty smell in the room and the outdated furniture.
