I was checking out Alton because a co-worker recommended visiting the nearby state park. However, since I started my day super late, it was getting darker when I arrived in Alton. So I ended up checking out this coffee shop instead, and boy, I was so surprised at how huge this place was. I guess this shop was a post office back in the day, so the interior is spacious. I think I also saw that it can be an event venue. I'm unsure, but you can rent this event space... Let me tell you that other than how spacious and huge this place is, they have two open bars- one for coffee and the other for drinks--what a clever way. I ordered a butterscotch latte with chai scone for a snack. The latte was so delicious, with its strong taste, butterscotch, and espresso taste. The chai scone was perfectly baked, and you can taste the chai flavor perfectly. This whole coffee shop is such a vibe. I liked it a lot, and I highly recommend this shop if you're ever in Alton, IL!

Grrrrrrr8 job repurposing the old post office in Alton IL. Excellent coffee roasted in house. Many creative food offering homemade biscuits with gravey and a breakfast sandwich pumpkin French toast was very good.

I love places like this. Unique food in a unique location. Got the French toast and a gingerbread latte. Latte came out fast and was lukewarm. I prefer my lattes sweeter, but it was still good. My French toast was also good but not amazing. I wish there had been more syrup and ricotta on it. My bacon, however, was PERFECT. I ate half my dish and ended up splitting my mom's burrito with her; delicious but spicy in spots. Overall it was a fun experience but the food could have been better for the price we paid. Be prepared to wait in line forever on a Saturday morning.

Visiting as part of our honeymoon. Ended up coming for breakfast. The Post Toast is excellent! We adored the atmosphere. Completely enjoyed just sitting and holding hands after breakfast.

We ordered the slinger and oh my goodness Monte Cristo. I added an egg. I love this vibe and the view. I love the intimacy in a wide open space. I love the food selection and from flavor to presentation, it’s a magical chef creation. I love the tea and herbal offerings as well as coffee. I have been here often. Would love to see original photos of the post office.

Delicious food and drink! Perfect bacon. Biscuits and gravy to die for. The sundust latte was exquisite! Really chill ambiance and great view of the riverfront. Quality and courteous service. To the owners… way to repurpose a beautiful old post office building. Hats off. We’ll be back.

This place is great!! Got an iced orange moconut latte and a chocolate chip scone, both were amazing!! The vibe is really unique inside and I love that they honor local "celebrities". The views outside are incredible as well. Check this place out!

LOVE this cafe! It’s spacious, eclectic, casual atmosphere is complimented by skilled staff and a creative menu of both coffee & food. I enjoyed the “post toast” = avocado toast with pico & micro greens (plus, egg &/or bacon if you choose) and house cold brew! Mmmm! Note: Idle Roasting Co. roasts right on sight, so it’s fresh & hand-crafted every time!

Super cool space! Hard to find a spot to sit and park on the weekends because it is so packed. The food seemed super fresh! Not picture but their fries are sooo yummy, its a mixture of potato/sweet potato fries and their spicy and it almost tastes like olgas snackers seasoning... 10/10! The workers were very friendly, I would definitely go again. My only complaint would be parking but there's no way to fix that. Will definitely be back!

I absolutely love it here. Since I work in a close-by building, this is a go-to for coffee and lunch for me! Their Post Toast with scrambled eggs (pictured) is a favorite of mine. I should note that this menu item is vegetarian-friendly, as well as their Seoul Shine Burrito if you order it with tofu! You will always get friendly, smiling faces & quick service! Although it’s smaller than typical cafes, they have a great brunch menu. They also have rotating baked goods. Amazing coffee/tea drinks that are always prepared extremely well is a given here. I really enjoy local specialty coffee and this place truly is a must-go if you haven’t been. Perfect spot for doing work, homework, or just chilling out solo/with friends. I can’t stay away- sometimes these guys see me twice a day. 😆

The food was ok, some dishes much better than others. Menu too small, for the size of the place, they should have a more substantial menu. Coffee was ok, meaning the cold brews and iced lattes. As I mentioned a couple things on the menu were very very good, the rest were ok. We came here for the ambiance, so cool, just for that I’m giving 5 stars, it’s worth popping in. It’s a converted post office very well decorated cool place to hang out. I just think the food could be better, this would be my only minor complaint. For food choices and flavor of food I would give 4 stars. Still have to stop in and look around, so cool love this place!

This place has everything you’d want in a coffee shop! (Except for the limited hours lol) I just had one of the best lunches. A jalapeño cheddar grilled cheese with tomato soup. Coffee drinks are great, the food and unique atmosphere! Love that they took the old post office and converted it. It’s defiantly a place to gather and relax at.

The Post Commons is an amazing venue for hosting any event, large or small. As a local balloon company, we have done some amazing parties here! The tall ceilings, wooden accent wall and open concept allow for endless possibilities when decorating your event. We have also hosted a personal party here and the coordination from the venue was seamless and informative. We would definitely recommend this location for your next event if you are looking for that show stopping feel!

I adore this post office turned cafe. I've gotten post toast (avocado on sourdough with goat cheese and microgreens) and the oatmeal. Today I had a London Fog latte and it was delicious. I brought home some cinnamon friendship bread for the fam. It's a spacious floor plan with plenty of seating options. Give it a try!

The staff is so nice. They food is amazing and that coffee is unlike any other coffee I've had. 100% my favorite restaurant and I would gladly go back. They aren't expensive either so you don't have to worry about that. If I could give this place 6 stars I would

They have repurposed an old US Post Office to be a coffee house. Pony Express breakfast burrito was excellent.

We were looking for a local breakfast place off the beaten path on the way home from St. Louis and found Post Commons in Alton, IL. This location is on top of the hill where both the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers meet and is inside the former Post Office. Not only is the location a living museum, the coffee and breakfast food is top notch. You place your order at the front desk, and then go find a seat with your order number. The service team will then bring you your food and drinks. The bar for later in the day is very robust with some nice Sazerac Company Bourbon, and multiple wine options. We are looking forward to bringing more friends and family the next time through town. Well done, team.

Great place to relax Really good food The tea is bland and extremely overpriced Great atmosphere. Mellow music always playing quietly. Top Notch service. The Turkey Club with avocado is my favorite. The mixture of seasoned/sweet potato fries is divine!

Wow...what an unexpected surprise! I just wanted a latte and was looking for the closest place. This is such a unique and cool location. It is the entire first floor of the old Post Office. We ended up ordering food along with the lattes. The gobbler turkey sandwich and half and half fries were out of this world! The bacon on the sandwich was crispy, avocado and all the flavors complimented each other. The sweet potato fries....oh my! They were slightly spicy and totally, surprisingly delicious! I don't typically order sweet potato fries because I don't like sugar on my sweet potatoes. But instead, they added some heat. Just. Soooo. Good!

Super cool! Probably one of the neatest coffee shops Ive been in. Coffee was excellent. Decor was retro and unique. Really liked this place. They offer several things as well like room to host weddings and parties. Basement is unique with individual furnished rooms. Cool vibe. Diff will return.

Really nice place for coffee as their mix was a delicious blend from Brazil and Guatemala. Big space, so lots of spacing and it was busy this Saturday

Great breakfast entrees. A fabulous space in the reclaimed old Alton Post Office. Would have given five stars but pastry was only fair.

Great coffee / brunch spot. Redone post office with very friendly staff and good prices. A couple vegan options and great coffee and alternative milk selections! Definitely will return.
