Very distinctive historical building. Here you can admire the gardens, hike in the mountains, and visit historic buildings (tickets sold separately). It's popular on weekends, but parking is free so you can drive there without worrying about parking.

Beautiful grounds. We brought our 3 year old and he loved the children's story book trail. It's a big area so you will be walking alot. Not really suitable for a pram, but you might able to. Some nice views of the city and our son (and me too) loved seeing the planes race down the runway and take off. You can even see all the way to the ocean. Will be back once the house is open and new visitor center. Easily spend 2-3hrs here and still not see everything. I imagine spring would be really pretty here. Winter was green but not many plants blooming. Still spectacular though

What a beautiful place to showcase how the wealthy lived , if u ever wanted to feel like you are in a romantic novel taking a stroll in the garden this is the place to be , the gardens are out of this world spectacular, its beautifully preserved time capsule of opulence, hard work and grace all in one .it makes for a beautiful walk , well suited for couples , solo self reflection walks or even with children along as they don't expect a play ground (there isn't one ) however the multiple cubby houses which are scattered in the back part of the garden provide more than ample entertainment for the young ones . Moving on to the house itself there is a chance of attending high tea however I did not get a chance to experience it . Otherwise what a marvellous beautiful place this is and oh dis I mention that it is free with free parking as well .

I recently visited Carrick Hill and it was such a delightful experience. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the house itself is stunning. It was so interesting to learn about the history of the property and the family who lived there. The staff were also incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The highlight for me, though, was the sense of relaxation I felt while wandering around the gardens. It's such a peaceful and serene place, with plenty of spots to sit and take in the views. I particularly enjoyed the rose garden, which was in full bloom when I visited. Overall, Carrick Hill is definitely worth a visit. It's a nice place to spend a few hours or a whole day, depending on how much time you have. I left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated - something that's hard to come by in today's busy world. Highly recommended!

A beautiful old house with magnificent gardens. The gardens are in full bloom this time of the year which makes it a lovely place to spend a day with the family. There is no entrance fee to enjoy the gardens but for visiting the house there's a fee. It's definitely worth a visit!

This place was an interesting visit. Alot of antiques items with stories behind them which you can learn in depth about by buying it's story book from the gift shop in the castle. The entrance ticket can be bought at the place at $17 for adults $13 for students (just bring your ID card). The garden is vast with large garden and trees surrounding the place but during the summer there's a lot of bugs, so prepare for flies and mosquitoes. This castle has a cafe at the location and there's several trail around the castle garden you can explore with a map that you can get at the ticket area in the castle. There's a surprising gallery on the top floor too that rotate different art (not sure about the interval). Very cool 😎

I read about Carrick Hill having an exhibition of Mid Century Moderns paintings in the Review, so decided to pop along to meet friends there at the Cafe and take in the exhibition afterwards. What a pleasant surprise it was. Gorgeous gardens, perfect for picnicking, and great views over the city, and an amazingly decorated mansion. House is not a good enough word for this splendid building. And the permanent collection of works on display was impressive. The exhibition was good too.

A nice place with lot of fruit trees(lot of Pears Tree) Good for a 2 hour trip. Mansion was looking good. We didn’t go inside because there was an entry fee. Not crowded. Lot of parking available.

What an amazing place to visit in Adelaide. You can walk around the scenic views. Most of the people come here for private events and picnics. Free onsite parking and cafe too. I’m not recommending the cafe due to high prices and poor hospitality.

A very wonderfully maintained garden in the hills of Adelaide. I went there while I was in Adelaide for and the place is picturesque and a wonder to the eye. Looking over the small humble city that Adelaide is on a warm sunny day may be one of my go to get aways in the coming future. Would recommend for people of all ages. There was no need to wait, even for parking. It was strange to see a place this beautiful be so quiet. Maybe it might be because the site is quite far from the Adelaide CBD.

A magnificent house to visit and experience yesteryear and the fabulous wealth and immaculate taste of the occupants who donated this house to the community. The gardens alone are worth seeing in their extent and quality of layout and upkeep.

Gorgeous place. Really enjoyed walking through the gardens, looking for statues, the sun dial and other little bits throughout the property. I had two youngsters with me (2.5yrs & 5yrs) and they loved it. We didn't go inside the house, best to do without children I assume. We did the story book trail and it was fantastic! It's fun searching for all the little characters and the little cubbys are fun and well maintained.

Carrick Hill is set within the most beautiful grounds. There are stunning flowers, grass areas, the cafe and the storybook trail. It’s a wonderful place to walk around and enjoy time within nature. Definitely have the afternoon tea at Carrick Hill Cafe if you have time, but you do need to book in advance. Highly recommend @kirbystaltari

A must visit place. The estate is huge, and it was nice to learn the history of Carrick Hill and the people. The place is amazingly beautiful. There's an entry ticket to visit inside the mansion, outside is free to roam around, but everything closes at 4.30pm

A beautiful and stately home with magnificent gardens. Kids loved exploring the various nooks and crannies in the gardens, and following through the fairy trail. the pond has some good goldfish. Idea is to bring a small picnic and relax on the luscious green grass.

A great place for a picnic or spend the day. There’s a cafe onsite that is a little pricey. Busy during weekends. While the garden is freely accessible, it costs $17 for an adult to visit inside the mansion. A huge land area that’s very well maintained. Lots of routes and paths for one to walk through and obs nature.

A good place for a picnic. Plenty of parking available. The cafe was closed when we visited for a private event. A good place for a walk and scenic views of adelaide in the distance. If you are looking to visit a mansion it is $17 for an adult. Kids under the age of 15 can visit for free.

A truly stunning garden and courtyard to visit. We loved it. It is beautifully maintained and a great spot to relax, have a picnic and admire the gardens. The outdoor area is free to visit however if you'd like to give an optional donation you can. We didn't go inside (which does cost money) but I have no doubts it would be beautiful inside too. Highly recommend if you're looking for an outdoor experience - to walk around at a blissful place and admire different types of plants and flowers.

Since a friend guided us to visit Carrick Hill some years ago, we come here at least once a year. Every time we feel new. Carrick Hill is a significant South Australian cultural tourism attraction. It comprises a major heritage building, being the previous home of Sir Edward and Lady Ursula Hayward, internationally significant art collections, original subsidiary buildings such as stables, and approximately 40 hectares of land which includes approximately 26 hectares of native bushland. It’s unique in that in any one visit to Carrick Hill, we can admire and marvel at the magnificent heritage gardens, view and appreciate the highly valued art collection, changing exhibitions and beautiful interiors of the house. “The story book trail” and log cabins are especially suitable for children to play with. It is also a famous wedding venue. Excellent food and wine can be enjoyed while taking in the breathtaking views over the city of Adelaide.

Always a delight to visit Carrick Hill. We visited for the flower display this time. It was a bonus that the current art exhibition is mid-century modern art. A new visitor centre is going up on the property also. It'll be interesting to see what it will offer.

I'm a wedding photographer and let me tell you, it's a stunning place! With its rich history and beautiful architecture inside and out, if vintage and classic vibe are your thing like me, then you'll definitely dig this place! From lush gardens to old-school fountains and small corners full of charm, there's no shortage of cool spots! The team are super friendly and accommodating too! I'm 100% confident to say that Carrick Hill is a pretty solid choice for any soon to be married couple looking for a unique, historic spot to 'Say yes' :)

It's a beautiful spot for a picnic with friends and chit-chat in the cool weather.....if not, there's nothing much here besides the garden (which isn't much now, in winter). The storybook trail is pretty overrated as the limited props and landscaping isn't quite impressive. That explains the limited photos of this area. The construction of the new Visitor Centre also takes away the ambience slightly.

wonderful way to spend a morning afternoon or entire day. I came here twice with my partner, explored the grounds, the story book trail and had a magnificent 2 course dinner (good food!) cocktail and wine with gelato for dessert! staff are super helpful and friendly. The next day we came back to do a tour of the house then ordered a bottle of champagne to sit on the lawn enjoying our picnic and music 😊 would recommend to others and come back. this would be lovely on a spring and winter day rugged up with hot chocolates 🥰

Exquisite residence with associated history. Presentation and access is well handled. Staff are lovely and a guided tour is available. Well worth a visit and This is quite reasonable.

So much character! We visited Carrick Hill, and there was plenty of car parking. The garden was beautifully maintained with lots of interesting places. You need to buy tickets when you enter the house. The house has two floors, and you can access the attic via an elevator. There is plenty to take in, so make sure you are not pressed for time. The entire place appeared to be wheelchair friendly.

A beautiful spot to come visit on a sunny day. Spent two hours here with my 3yr old and 1yr old. We went on the story book trail which my oldest loved (but the trail isn't very pram friendly but I did manage to push the pram up, down hills and stairs). Then we rested and had a wonderful picnic on one of the many lawns. Both kids had a great time exploring and enjoying the gardens. Then to finish it off we had baby cinos at the cafe.

A grand mansion/museum/garden, built and maintained with passion. Went there twice in a month. In July the house museum was closed for annual maintenance. Returned today and toured inside. Cafe was also great. Well worth visiting for a few hours.

Beautiful place, full of life and the views are amazing. Lots of families and spots for small picnics. Children were definitely into it with the story book trail and cute and perfect details put in.

There are beautiful gardens and lawns, suitable for friends to gather and take photos. There are many collections in the interior of the manor, and the decoration style of the English manor is worth visiting.

Absolutely stunning place! The coffee shop could do with a bit of a hurry up, but the coffee was good! Went there for Sports Cars and Coffee, very enjoyable!

My grand daughter loved a princess event held there last year and we returned to the storybook trail. I'd give the day out we had five stars if it weren't for the dull and bad cafe service. Unfriendly and understaffed. Gardens gorgeous. Event highly recommended.
