The overall experience was not great. Firstly my partner emailed the hotel 5 days prior to our arrival regarding the parking facilities, the hotel did not respond to us at all. Once we arrived near the hotel, we had to call the hotel and the instruction was not clear where to valet the car. Secondly, we were put in a lower floor and on main road, we can near the lifts from our room and buses from the main road. Thirdly, we planned to go to the roof top for a drink or two with our friends. The hotel did not allow one of our friends in because he was wearing shots! Do note it’s Spring time in Australia, and it’s 2022. We felt that the staff were not as experienced. Given the hotel was trying to accommodate due to they did not respond to our email on parking facilities, the overall experience wasn’t great. If this is a 5 stars hotel, the hotel definitely needs to review their service level. I would not recommend anyone to stay there if you tend to drive while in Adelaide.

Flawless service. Pricey, but they certainly deliver. Lovely and helpful staff. Stunning rooms in a wonderful historic building that is a one stop shop for dining, drinks and accommodation. Will return.

The room was big and had everything that we needed. The mini bar was complimentary and stocked with local beer and cider, soft drink, chips, nuts and chocolate. I let them know that it was my birthday and they also included a card and a surprise in the mini bar. The bed was really comfortable and considering our rooms location - it was surprisingly quiet. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was great. Check in and check out was easy.

Fabulous hotel with very friendly staff. Food in the Den cafe was delicious and reasonably priced. The rooms were beautifully decorated and complimentary mini bar was a great treat. Would highly recommend

Underwhelmed. We stayed here 4 nights as part of our travel package. The hotel seems more business oriented than relaxing...which is totally fine. The decor is dark and just feels a little unwelcoming. The bed was really soft. Which was food after long days but can become unsupportive. The pedestrian entries sometimes have loiterers and the footpath entry area are covered in all sorts of fluids and rubbish...especially when the clubs are open. Probably a compromise for the central location. The lifts are slightly noisy but our biggest let down was poor room service. We would continually find that the sheets and towels weren't replaced, and the complimentary bar wasn't restocked. This is despite us having our signs clearly placed. A fellow traveller complained how lack of house keeping and though had her room cleaned, the door was left wide open for hours while they were out exploring. Another annoyance was the lack in communication amount the check in counter and restaurant about our breakfast being included. Just felt like we had to continually explain and request things to be done. We ended up staying in town for 3 extra nights but switched hotels.

We stayed 3 nights. We wouldn’t have stayed 1 if we could have got our money back. A great location that is central to everything but the hotel is “Mutton dressed as Lamb”. Massively overpriced accommodation for what it offers. Cost us $1800 for 3nights including breakfast . The rooms are small and dark by luxury standards . The windows were filthy dirty and depressing. The mini bar was minimal and never refreshed. The buffet breakfast is “ok” but lacking finesse. Just don’t waste your money here there is dramatically better value elsewhere in Adelaide.

Everything about this hotel was fabulous. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient, the location is great (close to cafés, restaurants and Rundle Mall) the meals are excellent and the rooms and beds super comfortable. The use of technology for ordering room service and for notifying housekeeping for rooms to be made up or "do not disturb" made processes very easy. I would highly recommend the Mayfair Hotel.

What an awesome hotel The Mayfair is. Welcoming attentive staff, superb building, decor and rooms, awesome bed, very comfortable and lovely restaurant/bars with excellent background music playing. If I could have given you 10 stars I would have. Extremely enjoyable stay, thank you to the wonderful friendly staff for making it that way.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, nice rooms, comfy bed and free minibar. Location was very central and within walking distance to the zoo, gallery, museum and shops. Pleasantly surprised. Can be a little sketchy in the area late in the evening and early morning. Few questionable characters hanging around outside but otherwise perfect

Highly recommend the Mayfair. Everything about our stay was effortless and beautiful. The rooms are stunning, customer service was excellent and the small touches with the complimentary mini bar, fruit plate and bottles of water just made the trip extra special. The restaurants and bar in house were amazing too and the location PERFECT for exploring the city. Super close to Peel Street and Leigh Street laneways. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting Adelaide. If you're trying to decided between a few locations, go the Mayfair. You won't regret it.

A wonderful experience with a great level of service. Luxurious spacious room with all amenities. Only downside: Internet was very slow in our room. Great rooftop bar.

Very good experience, good breakfast ,can do better. Centrally located ,has all the public shopping and brands in 50m. Gives you access to parking with a 50%disc coupon. Very flexible in terms of booking or changing rooms. Very comfortable.

Very good. Given a level 2 Delixe King room, wife's a light sleeper, requested something higher, gave us a suite LVL5, very nice, did cost 50 bucks more... One downer, there on a weekend and the rooftop (Def a big reason to stay!) was closed ALL Saturday for a private function. Drop a star for that but otherwise room service food good and staff generally lovely. Nice place to stay, just note usually a slightly more mature crowd and no pool. Also note, we actually found it very quiet, esp compared to other hotels, never heard doors or elevators etc. Slept well, bed soft but comfy!

A fabulous place for a long lunch followed by cocktails upstairs to take you into the evening. The food is spectacular on the taste buds & on the eye. Great selection of food, wine & spirits. There’s a magic to the rooms that adds atmosphere and makes you want to come back & introduce your friends.

This mooring I've had one of the best and if not the best room service experiences in a hotel. Ming who took my breakfast order was exceptionally professional , tentative, and incredibly personable and friendly. This has made our stay and we still have 2 nights to enjoy all the sights and scenery Adelaide has to offer. Michael - Room 807

We recently stayed here for our anniversary. The hotel is lovely and the location was fantastic. We were glad to be on the 7th floor as there was quite a bit of street noise which would have been amplified if we were lower down. The room itself was nicely appointed but the layout was very disappointing. We booked one with a sitting room however the sitting room was in a small corner directly in the entrance which was not comfortable for sitting in. I understand that because it is a heritage building the layout could not be changed but it was a bit of a let down. The channel options on the television were terrible as was the lighting in the bathroom but the water pressure and amenities were good. The free mini bar was also a nice addition. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and the made to order coffee was really nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are luxuriously furnished and the bed is plush and comfortable. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the buffet breakfast is a great option so long as you get in early while the food is a bit fresher. For us, the real downside was the lack of current-age technology. The Bluetooth speaker in the room sounds as if you’re playing your music through an empty Pringle’s can. The TV set up is also very outdated, with select Foxtel channels (some channels simply didn’t work or had no sound) and $15 per-view movies. There were no modern entertainment options such as casting your streaming service, and even the inbuilt HDMI ports in the cabinetry failed to work. If in-room entertainment is of no concern to you, then this is a comfortable room.

Had High Tea to celebrate a 70th birthday and was a great experience that everyone enjoyed. Staff were great, didn't hover but available when want them, really nice and made everyone feel special. Surprised us with a special Happy Birthday plate of treats for the birthday girl with candle. Food was great, plenty of it (couple of us would prefer a few more savoury items and a little less sweet but was still great) Highly recommend especially for something special and different.

Very comfortable bed, beautifully appointed rooms. Excellent blackout curtains. Shame about the roadworks happening on both sides of the hotel when I was staying. The staff were lovely but they didn’t give a warning or prioritise putting people in rooms farthest from the noise. Curious! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Had the most amazing Mother's Day High Tea at Mayfair. We have a Ceoliac in the family and the lengths they went to really made the day. Beautiful gluten free food, including dessert. The desert was even brought directly to the table instead of the non-gluten free buffet to rule out contamination. I can't recommend highly enough. The service staff were friendly and accommodating in every way. Thanks so much for the best gluten free meal - and the best dining experience of any kind - I've ever had. It made Mother's day very special indeed.

This place serves great cocktails! The rooftop bar provides a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying drinks during summer nights. However, the service could be better. If you choose to sit indoors in the bar area, it can get loud and crowded.

If you are looking for a hotel with reliable and fast internet, well-lit rooms with natural daylight, large windows, and comfortable beds that don't sink a foot deep, then this hotel might not be the best choice for you. Unfortunately, the internet and Wi-Fi speed is slow and unreliable, making it difficult to use for Zoom calls, business, or entertainment. I understand that the hotel is old, but the management needs to update the internet infrastructure to keep up with the 21st century. Personally, I found this hotel to be the worst I have stayed in Australia in the last 5 years and would recommend looking elsewhere for accommodation.

  • 3/5 Susan W. 7 months ago on Google
Great food terrible wifi. Sadly Cannot return because it’s too difficult to work from the hotel. Also the pillows were very bad for my neck for some reason. I stay in a lot of hotels and their pillows were too high and not in the good lumbar support way. The free mini bar isn’t worth it. 2 beers, 2 ciders, 2 KitKats, 2 mint Patties, 1 small crisps, 1 small nuts, soft drink. Would rather high speed internet and ability to get a good lumbar pillow than that mini bar. Hair dryer didn’t have the styling attachment. I read that the hotel didn’t have a gym and allowed access to a large gym with pool. This is not the case anymore. I didn’t see the gym but I got the feeling it would be small with a few weights.

Impeccably clean, excellent location - right at the heart of rundell mall and a short walk to the Adelaide markets. Staff are nice. The rooms are very comfortable and have a nice heritage/classic look, rooms are also very spacious. I love the bathroom. Cot was set up for my baby. We got a free minibar !

Booked a room for my in-laws who were celebrating a very big wedding anniversary. Mentioned this when booking. Mayfair went over and above our expectations to make them feel special. They had a wonderful time and we are glad this is the hotel we picked.

Really good location, large beautifully appointed rooms. Perfect spot to walk to good restaurants and bars, felt safe walking back at night. Great access to public transport, and Rundle St mall. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Definitely deserves its 5 star rating,

Hope won't need to go there again! Had a three-day course in one of the conference rooms and right from start it was obvious they don't know what a good conference room looks like. The chairs were so uncomfortable we asked for replacements right away after our first break on the first day. Then the aircon issue surfaced and the room would get so bad with heat and no-air circulation. The aircon would keep shutting down and, no matter how many times we manually started it, it would not work. I passed on the issue of the aircon to the reception desk and they did raise it with whoever was in charge of fixing it, but nothing happened, not even a visit to the room to see what was wrong! We had side meetings in the seating area on the first floor and one of the lifts was so noisy going up and down that I was actually worried it might cause an incident soon. All in all, negative experience for corporate meetings and I personally won't organize anything in this hotel for sure.

“Dog-friendly” hotel that does NOT ALLOW dogs to play squeaky toys and bark! We booked a pet friendly room with an extra cost of AUD$150 and were given a welcome pack with includes two squeaky toys. However, the duty manager knocked on our door and said other guest complained our dog was noisy playing the squeaky toys that were provided by the hotel and it was only 9pm. How ridiculous it is? It doesn’t make sense and not humane that a dog friendly hotel doesn’t allow dogs to play and bark. Plus it is a five star luxury hotel. The duty manager even threatened us other guests may also make another complaints if we didn’t control our dog! How would you mute your dog? It’s all of the hotel responsibility to arrange a hotel room designated for dogs given that barking is how dogs express their feelings rather than requesting guest to keep their dog muted. We had a very bad time at the hotel and will NEVER stay at any Mayfair hotels in the future!

Booked here with a friend using the great state travel voucher at the end of June. The room was lovely, great size, and the bed was to die for! Unfortunately we didn’t have hot water for our shower. We rang reception and we’re told they would send maintenance up. They then called back and said no one was on. I asked what they could do then so we could have a hot shower, and they said there wasn’t anything. She ended up sending up some gelato which was a nice gesture- I would have preferred to be able to have a hot shower though. It soured the experience quite a bit, even with the voucher it was quite pricey and then to not even be able to have shower, super disappointing.

The room was nice, and staff were fantastic. Food was OK but probably not 5 star. We were disappointed that the roof top bar and Mayflower restaurant were not open, and suggest that if COVID restrictions prevent business as usual it may be more economical and also provide a better guest experience if guests were given the option to reschedule for after COVID restrictions lift. They were very generous by giving us a tour of the roof top bar and a lovely bottle of sparkling to make up for only having the DEN open. Staff deserve 6 stars!

Great spot with terrace or indoors drinks. Atmosphere and lounge music very good. Staff is very friendly. However, not a great variety of wine. Fries are very good.

Pretty underwhelming for the price. Room is dark and oddly furnished, TV and movie selection is from early 2000s. No option to cast phone to watch Netflix etc. Roof top bar had tradespeople working around patrons on a Thurs night. No heat in bathroom. Comfy bed. I feel like the hotel used to be premium back in the day but has since not been updated to reflect modern conveniences

Beautiful hotel, staff were highly professional and friendly. Extremely clean with great facilities and food quality is of a high standard. Centrally located in Adelaide CBD with tram and bus stops straight outside front door. Many restaurants and small bars within 5 minutes walk. Would highly recommend this hotel.

First of all, had to park in a Hindley St carpark, away from the hotel, had to carry all our luggage to hotel. Beds are way too soft, not comfortable at all. Booked for breakfast in the hotel restaurant, Over an hour wait time for breakfast, just plain eggs on toast..that's it.nothing fancy.. what a joke! Location is good.. but that's about it I'm afraid.

Charming hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Christmas Eve there was a knock at the door and we were given a plate of Christmas shaped biscuits - cute touch. Attentive staff at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Rooms and general areas of hotel very clean and neat. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas Eve celebration for our family.

Cannot fault this hotel in any way, service, staff, everything was brilliant, bed was so comfortable and the suite was divine. My new favourite hotel in Adelaide. The Mayflower Restaurant was amazing and did not disappoint, we will definitely be back!

Friendly and welcoming staff. Room was absolutely stunning. Requested for a room with a view and got exactly that. So relaxing, beautiful and luxurious. The best hotel bed and very clean and spacious bathroom. Dinner at The Den was top class and the breakfast was definitely one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in Adelaide so far. Opted for in-room breakfast dining and was delivered right on time. Checkout was smooth and easy and definitely enjoyed the stay. Thank you team Mayfair.

I have found my new home in Paris!! I loved my stay at the Hotel Mayfair. The staff were excellent. Personal service and detail. Before I arrived they arranged many restaurant bookings for me which I really appreciated. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior Suite for our first night from a superior, and to a superior from a confort the remaining 3 nights, which again was extremely appreciated. I highly recommend the junior suite which was on the 6th (top) floor and had a balcony with views across the rooftops to jardin de tuileries. The beds were super comfortable. The rooms were nicely renovated. There was an espresso coffee machine in every room. We had a situation where a family member had tested positive for Covid thé day before our arrival and I had to have an extra youth with us last minute.. thé hôtel were very accommodating in finding a solution to fit the extra guest which wasn’t easy as they were fully booked. What I liked most was the renovated rooms and the personal intimate feel to thé hôtel. All the staff were so lovely and professional and personable. I spent a long time researching to find the hôtel that ticked all my boxes in this location within a budget I could afford. The last time I was in Paris 10 years ago I stayed at the George V hôtel abd the time before that the Ritz, which are of course hard shoes to fill.. but I really enjoyed this hotel for its excellent location, and small personable experience and nicely renovated rooms. It was perfect. It’s a real gem!!! J’ai hâte de retourner chez Hôtel Mayfair !!

Nice stay in the city centrally located hotel close to everything. Nice room bed extremely comfortable with complimentary mini bar . Only complaint was the water pressure in the shower which was very poor , such a pity as everything else was perfect.

This is by far the best place to stay in Adelaide. I love it so much. Their staff is very friendly and the rooms are super clean. If I could give more than 5 stars I would xo

Hotel is centrally located within walking distance to attractions, restaurants, bars, Rundle Street mall across the road. Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the hotel. Breakfast was superb, with outstanding service. Complimentary mini bar was an unexpected bonus for us…greatly appreciated. Hennessy bar on the rooftop was warm and inviting. We have travelled extensively around the world, this hotel is right up there for service, cleanliness, location, and hospitality. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful, chic, modern hotel in the city. It’s in a great location just off the Rundle Mall with a great walk-ability score- just steps away from numerous restaurants, shops, and spas. While they don’t have all the amenities of a hotel (most notably a spa, though they offer local suggestions in the area) they make up for it with their various restaurants and bars on premise (featuring a traditional sit down restaurant, bistro, and cocktail lounge located on the rooftop). They have implemented new-world technology (tablets, flat screen, and espresso machines in the rooms) with old-fashioned quality customer service. This truly is a collaboration of “thoughtful luxury and attentive service.” While it is on the pricier side, the small, unexpected touches of care and excellent service and accommodations well make up for it.

Stayed at the Mayfair for a night and was extremely satisfied with the king suite, staff were extremely attentive and went above and beyond. The breakfast was satisfactory, however, I was expecting more when compared to hotels of similar standard. Parking was not very convenient with small spaces and a small walk from the hotel with no convenient option for dropping off baggage. The rooftop bar was also great with some awesome cocktails, only disappointed the a bar named Hennessey was a very gin dominated cocktail menu. Overall a very satisfying stay!

Staff absolutely great. Very attentive and nothing is a problem. Hotel bed comfy and room clean. Lots of extras like free minibar and bath bombs etc, just the type of thing you don’t get in larger chain hotels even though price comparable.

Booked my 2 night stay online, arrived at the lobby to check in and was told I had no booking,I would have expected a much higher level of customer service from Mayfair, this would have been my third stay in as many months however I was stunned at the lack of communication, after I was told that I didn’t have a booking she then proceeded to tell me that I would need to also pay a $200 security deposit which I had not been asked to pay at either of my previous stays,I had just gotten off the plane and was in a t-shirt and old jeans, the person standing to my left had received great customer service prior to me being “served” and the lady behind the desk immediately started talking down to me and treating me like a peasant. The irony is that I’m fairly confident that I would have been the most financially secure person there! So needless to say I declined to stay at the Mayfair and I walked out. Only to find the following day that not only did I receive the worst customer service I had received in years but she charged me for a night’s accommodation!!!! Very poor form Mayfair, but hey, I guess you guys need the money more than me hey?🤣
