Not only does it have nice seafood, but their battered fish is divine. Well we got more than fish today for good friday, we got a long hair attached to the calamari also... we dont have long hair, nor is it brown.... unimpressed

Ordered a couple of lunch special packs, as take aways, each pack contained 1x butterfish, 3x prawns, 3x calamari, chips, salad and a can of soft drink - all for $12.90 each. One of the better (if not the best so far) Barnacle Bills locations, where the quality is noticeably better - possibly because they use and replace fresher oil more often, so fried food has a cleaner taste (which is good) - having many take aways (& the rare dine in) from them over a number of years. I've had Barnacle Bills before from other places butI'm sorry. It was really unpleasant. Both meals that we ordered were disappointing. And the spring rolls which I used to love were so much smaller and they were not nice at all. Won't be returning to this one 😕

Food is good but I noticed more batter on food and it was greasy. The chips were bland and warm. I ate 3 minutes after I received. I never went back as it was busy.

Today 06/09/2023 and 25/08/2023 my friend and I had lunch at Barnacle Bills and when entering and leaving the floors were greasy and very slippery. I’m 55 yrs old and I have mobility issues and have to use a walking stick and my walking stick was slipping on the floor as well as mine and my friends shoes, my friend had to hold my arm and assist me walking out because my walking stick was slipping on the floor and I felt extremely unsafe. We come here at least once a fortnight (most often weekly) and have NEVER had this problem before. I spoke to the manager Raj who advised that the floors are cleaned daily. I asked if management had changed the products they previously used. He advised that the Holden Hill store had recently changed hands and that the cleaning products they use had also changed (IMO more likely going for a cheaper floor cleaning product, which is way less effective at removing greasy residue). I told Raj just how dangerous the floor is but he seemed quite nonchalant about what I was saying and simply made excuses. I have emailed Barnacle Bills Head Office today to advise them of this extremely dangerous issue. So if anyone who reads this has fallen because the floors were greasy and slippery and you have injured yourself then you will know that today Wednesday September 6th 2023 that the Barnacle Bills Holden Hill Branch AND the Barnacle Bills Head Office have BOTH been advised by me about the potential safety issue with the greasy floors. The food is Fantastic but it’s definitely not worth potentially injuring myself for. I won’t be going back to the Holden Hill store because of this dangerous issue.

We have been coming here for over 20 years and it has always been lovely up until last night. Worst meal ever. The fish sticks were tiny, the size of a prawn, the salads didn't seem like they were fresh and the chips were overcooked and cold. Very disappointing. Just wondering if the owners have changed?

Always quick and well cooked. Never greasy or overcooked. Yes it's basic fish and chips but you know what you're going to get.

Hmm getting a little expensive isn't it , almost pricing itself out of the family take away budget.. that being said it's always fresh tasty food , staff are always friendly enough .. we will be back just not as regularly..lol

This barnacle bills is so great and the customers service is even better. Shianna (hope I spelt that correctly) is fantastic and always remembers our order every week. We always look forward to seeing her smiling face. 11/10 👏🏼

Absolutely love this place. The handsome chef in the back, Ben, was absolutely phenomenal (you’ll get lost in his eyes). The customer service he showed myself and my companions was second to none. The food he provided was magical. Chips are to die for, chicken was crispy and juicy just the way I want it. place should be renamed to Barnacle Bens!!!

Always have a great experience here. Doesn’t matter if we pick it up in-store or order it on ubereats.. meal is always piping hot and fresh! We come here at least once a week and have yet to receive anything less than perfect. Staff are really friendly! Not sure of their names but all the front service staff have been really bubbly and polite each visit. BOH staff cook the best meals! Quickest Uber delivery ever also. Props to the team 😊

I come here often and always happy with food. Last night 11th July, so disappointed. Whiting snack pack- Fish and chips tasted re- heated & not fresh. Have never found them to taste like that before.

Have bought butterfish with chips few times. Tastes very good. However, ambience does not suit comfortable family dining. So, I always take out. These days there is a staff shortage and may have to wait few more minutes to get your order. Unfortunately, the lady who was at the cashier on the Christmas eve seemed very distressed and was very rough with the customers. Hopefully, the management will retrain staff to be polite and gentle with the customers.

Went on Good Friday at noon and was already jam packed with customers. But even though they were short staffed the employees were superb, especially under pressure. Friendly, courteous, helpful and to my amazement my order did not take as long as I expected it would under the above circumstances. Great team work, your Manager is very lucky to have you all as employees. Food was cooked to perfection.

Seafood cooked good. Why can't they cook chips? Limp, cold and no colour of chips going near hot oil! This has been happening for more months every time we ask for well cooked chips still don't get them. So half the meal goes in bin because they are disgusting!!

Barnacle Bills are absolutely awesome.. Their food is of high grade, generous sized portions while using clean oil that's not hazardous to your health or hips.. The seasoning on their chips is definitely worth coming back for, seriously.. They're a popular choice!!

I regularly do take aways from here, food is always fresh no or a little waiting time. The place is clean and appealing. Service is as expected, all of the staff are friendly with one exception - a young female who just ignores the age barrier, too casual for me since I ignore the "Cheekbook" attitude... The manager is professional and very friendly and only buy pickled picked kalamaries since he reccomended it to buy and try once. Its very delicious. To turn the balance to positive is to mention another female staff who was super-friendly when my daughter felt like sad and down one day and she cheered her up couraged her to be happy and said supporting words to her. Enough parking around the place and always do other shopping at the corner of this compound.

I just get take away from here, they are pretty close so would not eat in, although the eat in dining area is pretty typical of a fast food restaurant. Seafood is always fresh & and tasty, although the chips servings seem to be smaller these days & they are relatively expensive for "fast food".

Came here today as my son wanted fish and chips and hadn't been to a barnacle bills in ages. Honestly, I don't know why we even tried anywhere else. This place has always been the best place to get fish, chips and seafood in the north east. The prices are extremely competitive and the freshness and quality is exceptional.

What can I say? Barnacle Bill's is an Adelaide institution. I love the lemon pepper calamari, nobody else does it. Like half of Adelaide, went there for Good Friday. Easy to order over the phone. No need for a website. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. And there is something for everybody. And pretty sure the interior is the same as when it opened.

Quick and friendly service. Got myself a spoiler! And it was good, not overly greasy, nice amount of salt on the chips. I noted that the restaurant was very clean and tidy. If only more BBs were like this one.

Very disappointed, I asked for well done chips, they were not well done and no different to the chips the other 3 people I was with had, they were described by the others as “white “ barely cooked.

Had it on my mind for ages, I'm done for a while now chips need to be salted before eating ( chicken salt ) the fish and stuff all crumbed tastes fine nothing out standing

Normally have a decent experience here, tonight was a completely other story. First of all the phone line definitely needs to be fixed, after ringing multiple times to be told it doesn’t work. Then our order was incorrect, this was replaced and salad was added for compensation, would of much rather fresh chips and fish then this. Lastly we arrived home and noticed our 10 spring rolls were missing to. Can’t eat the food anyway it’s cold and soggy. And obviously couldn’t call cause the phone line didn’t work otherwise I wouldn’t of written this. Definitely won’t be coming back, huge disappointment.

Chips overcooked and hard. Potato salad grey. Coleslaw chunks so big we cut them before eating. Seafood salad non existent. After 18 years with previous owner this was not enjoyable. If the new franchise owners are changing what worked for so long you have just lost a weekly customer.

Ordered 2 fish burgers - paid over $20 - they were advertised with tomato, lettuce, mayo - but they didn’t come with tomato. When ringing them they advised yes everyone complains about this. No compensation offered - told call head office. Not about compensation rather false advertising - it’s annoying- very average, sloppy burger - won’t be going back. No stars …
