Lovely pub. Popped in on very hot day. They didn't have air con but had all the doors open.

Great traditional pub with a large range of beers. Has a outdoor seating area. Lots of old brewery related items on display, old ovens still present showing buildings past. Beers are excellent as is food. Great venue for meeting up with people. Clean toilets. Nice bar and friendly staff. Great food, Black and Blue burger is particularly tasty. Visited again to catch up with friends and had the Black and Blue burger again. Very tasty and filling.

Best Sunday roast I've ever had. My friend and I had the vegetarian sausage roast and my husband had the beef and we couldn't have asked for more (nor eaten any more!) Lovely staff, prompt service, brilliant beers and even better food, both in terms of quality and a proper portion.

Superb, I love it here. It's just so effortless. The staff are friendly and will even come over to say hello - it feels like they want you to be there. The beer is good as there is the Castle Rock core range, but it's the guest taps I usually go for as there will usually be something interesting. The whisky selection is decent too. It's comfy, dog friendly, welcoming and attracts a good crowd. The food is tasty too, especially the Sunday roasts.

A wide selection of beers and ales, as one would expect, from this Castle Rock Brewery owned pub; catering to a mainly boomer generation (it would appear from the occasions I've been). Food served too (but I've not eaten here) and the staff are all friendly, helpful and welcoming. Plenty of space in this former bakery but only 4 stars because the acoustic of the building make it rather noisy even without the occasional guest band playing live.

Nice place with a good selection of ales, stouts and all manner of beer. Good live music too.

Excellent boozer with lots of decent cask and craft beers at reasonable prices. Only downside is it's full of bloody dogs - either barking, fighting or lying where you have to step over them! I like dogs, but.... Great for the ale, though!

No tables but we sat in the bar and that was fine by us! Service and staff were great and the roast was perfection!

I really liked the look of the pub , the staff were very friendly but the lighting was so bright it was a bit much. It was a Sunday evening so it was really quiet hence the 3 for atmosphere I think it would be different at other times . Overall I think it's worth a visit

Been a couple of times now on a Monday for the curry night, amazing value, all home made and a drink included for £13, so tasty, will be back for sure and looking forward to trying burger night on Tuesday!

Decent, straight forward pub. Interesting building in an old bakery retaining features of its former use (oven doors) adding a museum feel. Great beer choice and good food.

The food was excellent (highly recommend the moussaka!) and there were plenty of tables & beer options. Staff were pleasant and efficient, only downside was we ordered nachos as a starter and they came with the mains, a very minor thing!

Have been going to the B&B for many years, and so it seemed like the perfect place to meet up with a friend and his girlfriend who were down from Leeds, especially as they had bought their dog with them. It was a Saturday night so relatively busy. The evening started badly because the girl serving behind the bar looked like she'd been sucking lemons, and clearly didn't want to be there. I'd never seen her there before so can only assume she is new, also young so maybe her first job. Whatever the reason, her attitude wasn't appreciated... She seemed particularly peeved that I wanted to use my loyalty card. Anyway, this is not a criticism of the ale because, as always, it was excellent. This is instead about the dreadful food which we received. I had a chicken Caesar pizza... it came with an over cooked base whose crust I struggled to even cut through and pieces of chicken that were so dry and tasteless that I struggled to differentiate them from the croutons which were also sprinkled on top. They could have taken a ceiling tile and put toppings on and it would have likely tasted better. My wife unfortunately did not fair much better... She had opted for the homemade nachos. Now if you're going to boast about something being homemade you'd better make sure it's good. The nachos themselves were awful and devoid of taste. It was clear they'd been made out of nothing more than flour and water, and tasted beyond bland. Proper nachos are made with corn tortilla chips, not some cheap imitation knocked up with flour. So given the service received and the food provided, I'd say the evening was a resounding failure. Now I feel it only fair to point out that this is the first time I've had this sort of experience there, which is probably why it came as such a shock, and I should really have complained at the time, but when you're out with visitors it's not something you really want to do.

Good range of Castle Rock ales and good food. I tried the homemade lasagne and my daughter had the black n blue burger. No complaints on either 🙂 Jo my daughter said there was a really good sauce on the burger ( and almost ended up wearing it lol!). Dont be put off by the size of the lasagne portion ..its very filling!

Had a Sunday lunch there it was brilliant the gravy was to die for. Mind where you park read the signs some parking belongs to the pub next door and there very keen to issue tickets

Lovely place and excellent staff. Had Sunday lunch, which was very tasty but the four carrot rings, four green beans and three pieces of brocoli were not even al dente they were raw !! Our elderly companion nearly choked on a green bean it was that hard. So just a suggestion, cooked veg and more of it would make it five stars.

A lovely pub with a warm atmosphere and a great range of beer! Food is always nice and the staff are friendly. Dogs are welcome both inside and out.

My first visit for a quick pint. Looks a great pub, busy, good service, excellent range of beers, noisy for 6pm.

Attendee quiz night as a newbie. Found it extremely odd questions were not read out in sequential order, nor no explanation from quiz master for this. Bar staff very nice and friendly.

The pub was nice, food was okay. But the bad part was the service. The waitress literally took our orders before we even had a chance to take off our coats and have a seat at the table. When we wanted some water for the table, we called a waitress who just pretended that she didn’t hear us and just went away.

Staff were absolutely excellent, unfortunately the food was not as good as it could have been. Now, my party arrived late and the best of the menu was unavailable so, the moral of this story is, arrive early and you will get the best

Really lovely Sunday lunch. Plenty of variety to suit various diets (gf/vegan). Good sized portions. Dog friendly (in bar area). Staff really lovely and helpful. Will definitely be returning!

Came here for a late evening meal. Services was fast, menu is varied but with some pub classics, and all done really well. Very nice atmosphere.

This pub used to be a bakery, hence the name, it is part of the ever growing Tynemill group which normally stands for really well kept beers and wholesome pub food, the Bread and Bitter is no exception. The beer range is always impressive with the Castle Rock selection plus London Pride and rotating guests. The pub has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, dogs are welcome and children in the eating area. The staff are exemplary, the slightly older members being very much into music, which means live music every other Tuesday and a splendid vinyl evening. The food is always very good, although the portion of peas which accompany the excellent fish and chips could do with being a tad larger. All in all this is a little gem of a pub and the locals are lucky to have it.

Nice pub with plenty of space, good selection of ales and some board games if you want some entertainment. Dog friendly

I would have preferred slightly thinner crust and more topping on pizzas. However, the toppings were imaginative and tasty and a good price for a quick lunch out. Beer very good too

Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch. Massive Yorkshire puds, good sized portions. And the staff were great with the 2 lads who were bit energetic. I'll be returning

Great dog friendly pub with loads of lovely beers. There's a nice outdoor seating area as well to enjoy in the warmer months. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and the food they served was really delicious and freshly prepared. All in all a much better choice than Wetherspoons next door.

Very nice chips and cob. I really appreciate the way they label up the vegan friendly beers. It's a lovely pub, but maybe a little on the expensive side.
