Lovely place the Landlady is so warm and welcoming. The menu has a fabulous selection of food. Fantastic outdoor seating area, undercover too. It's also dog friendly and has a water and treat station for your furbabies. Highly recommend it. Also if your a boater like me you can moor up on the door step for 3 days 🙂. Fantastic place.

I visited here at the weekend on Sunday for my birthday with some family. We easily booked a table online a few days before. We were 5 minutes early arriving, was acknowledged within 2 minutes of entering the premises and promptly seated with menus. Our drinks order was taken after 5 minutes of perusing the menu, and whilst they were being prepared, about 5 minutes later we were asked if we were ready to order food or needed more time, but we were ready. The menus have a good choice range, but we had checked online in advance, so all knew pretty much what we wanted. The lady took our orders, our drinks arrived and around 20 minutes later our food arrived. It was all well presented and looked really yummy, and we all really enjoyed our choices. The lady serving us came to check we were happy with our food about 5 minutes in and asked if we wanted any more drinks or anything else. After we had all finished, our plates were promptly cleared away and we were asked if we wanted any desserts. That was also cleared away promptly and we were asked if there was anything else we would like or just the bill, so no waiting around to catch anyone's attention, they were on it. A very pleasant experience, very friendly and attentive staff, we will definitely visit there again. Outside is lovely by the Trent Lock Canal and River. The inside was clean and tidy. We visited at 1pm on a Sunday, it was fairly busy but not heaving, maybe 50-75% full. We would definitely recommend coming here for food and/or drinks. The customers sat near us all seemed happy with their food and it all looked delicious.

Lovely pub and restaurant adjacent to the river Trent at Trent Lock in Sawley, near Long Eaton. Plenty of local free parking nearby. Inside and outside seating. Great staff. Good choice of beers and kids pop.

Staff friendly, ambience nice although needed to get attention to get any service. Waited an hour for food after chasing the staff for meal. When food came, daughters food was nice, but the three meat carvery me and my wife got was cold to luke warm, the "crackling" wasn't existent and the turkey was dry.

A really great place to eat. Very well organised indeed. You can order from your table, and select everything, right down to whether or not you would like ice and/or a slice in your drink. The food is really fresh and the crockery and glasses are immaculate. We'll go again.

We called in today whilst on a walk. Myself, mum, dad and my 2 year old. Sat outside in the winter sun (table 103) and was served and waited on by a lovely young man. We didn’t get his name as he didn’t have a badge but he was young, with long hair and glasses. He was so friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for him. You could tell he actually enjoyed and cared about his job. The food was gorgeous! Just enough and was quick to be served. We all had empty plates. Some of the best chips I’ve ever had! 👌🏼 Not to mention the hot chocolate too ☕️🤎🍫 Will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Lovely place to visit for a spot of lunch and some drinks. Lovely walk across the canal with a few other pubs on the route too. Wasn’t able to get a table inside however the staff was able to show use to some space outside undercover

It all started when I Phoned up, automated booking system was easy to book a table! Had to amend booking from 4pm to 3pm, pub could accommodate us and was great. Asked if the pub is dog friendly, which it is in the bar area and outside seating area. But in the restaurant side it isn't, so we decided to not bring the dog this time. When we arrived there were 6 staff and 1 supervisor. We were left standing around for about 5 or 10 minutes but it did feel forever standing around not knowing if we were to be seated down by a staff member or if we were to put on our exploring boots and hunt down our booked table.. The supervisor was polite qnd explained the restaurant was a bit hectic at the moment and we said it was ok, that we understood. (there were 2 other tables in the entire pub so I'm guessing the hectic period had already happened and they were recovering, or there was something happening in their outside barn). After being shown to our table the supervisor explained that Phoebe Would come and take our drink order. We asked if they would recommend any gins and Phoebe couldn't recommend any other than saying that they had a lot of gin. Our dinner guest who had been before suggested the blood orange Gin so that's what I ordered. We ordered the calamari and patte for starters and they both looked incredible! So our main food finally arrived after quite a bit of waiting and my son's pizza looked amazing, our dinner guests chicken pie looked great, although we had to ask for some gravy to go a long with it. My wife had the pork belly and it looked and smelled amazing! There was quite a bit of waiting going on for Phoebe to bring out the last dish, my Hunters chicken schnitzel, and when she finally emerged it was with bad news. Somehow from me ordering the meal at the table, to Phoebe inputting the order into her iPad, to the kitchen receipt printing in theie kitchen... That hunter chicken disappeared and I am left plateless... Queue sad violin music... It finally arrived!!! And wow, I wish it didn't :(. Chips were undercooked as if the chef had literally dunked them in a fryer just to put some heat on them. Still raw in the middle, at least it's the potato chips and not the chicken 😅. Speaking of the chicken it was really nice, Cooked beautifully! Just a shame it came out late on a rushed plate.. So finished our meals and sat for 20 minutes wiatinf for someone to come clear down the table and offer some desert menus... Instead I had to flag down the supervisor and ask her myself, this whole Trent Lock experience is shaping to not be a nice experience.. Whilst we look at the deserts menu, the supervisor comes down to the table behind us and says that one of their meals hasn't been cooked either!! Mental! Ok "be right back in 2 minutes to take your desert order" just turned into waiting 15 minutes... There are now 4 tables... What is going on? Just had to flag down said supervisor who clearly didn't like to be inturupted... 10 more minutes later and still waiting for our deserts, we have now resorted to playing penny football across the table to keep our 5 year old entertained... Ok we got there and the deserts have arrived! This absolute MARATHON of what we thought would be a quick lunch is almost over! The banoffee pie desert I had was Incredible! My son enjoyed his brownie, but what 5 year old wouldn't?! Our dinner guest enjoyed their sticky toffee pudding, but it's hard to not like sticky toffee pudding! Edit: my son's chocolate brownie had been thrown into a microwave which burnt the entire underside of it...NOT GOOD! All in all, this experience has completely changed my view on this pub. I'm trying to figure out why? What has changed so drastically? Last time I was here it was perfect and I had recommended this restaurant plenty of times because of that. Now.... Now I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone and I'm thinking I may have some apology letters to write to friends and family... Total time to have a late lunch for 3 people and a 5 year old: 2 hours 35 minutes.

Nice location. Pub was cold. Plenty of nice friendly staff. Beef brisket sandwich was very nice. The fish finger sandwich not so good value skimpy on the fish and the ciabatta bread was very dry. Fries nice. Menu a bit pricey for a pub.

Lovely pub, friendly staff and delicious food ! We stopped by with my partner and our dog for a quick bite after a nice walk. And the food was delicious and arrived promptly.we have had the Camembert bites and the scallops & prawns starters ( the prawns were not king prawns but it did taste good). As a main, I have had the Caesar salad with some chicken and my partner had the fish and chips. Generous portions and reasonable prices. We will be back 😀

Had a fabulous Sunday Roast, was up there with the best that we have had locally. Our server was Sophie, she was very pleasant and gave us excellent service, attentive but not in our faces. The price was very reasonable, I had the belly pork, which was delicious and my husband had roast beef, he also said how good it was. Will definitely be going back soon.

What a cracking pub. Another great venue from Vintage Inns. Great food. Came here with my partner and as veggies there was a good choice. Great location next to the Trent. Can imagine it's lovely in the summer. The service was second to none. We had an issue when we ordered two mains and only one came. They put our main to the top of the list in the kitchen and it was sorted out rapidly and didn't affect the enjoyment of the evening. Can't wait to go back 😄

Pub is in a beautiful location and garden is nice but the food and service is genuinely awful. Went in summer twice once for a burger and drink and next for the roast. The burger roll was so stale it disintegrated biting into it. The patty was alright but was drowned in a rank sauce of unknown description. Ordered chicken roast and got pork belly, auntie Bessie's potatoes (cold) and miscellaneous veg (also cold). My toddlers food came out hotter than the sun! Second time we were there for a few hours and tables weren't cleared once. The garden looked like one of those vast Indonesian garbage cities. Wait times were long but staff were friendly and beer was alright. Food was NOT cheap. At those prices you'd be better off almost anywhere else.

For the past 6 years, me and my partner have been going here for meals whenever there’s a special occasion. The food is delicious and is served quickly, presented really well too. A warm cosy atmosphere, and romantic with the candles lit. They even send you offers through email once you sign up online & download the app. Today, we got 40% off Mains😄 Only thing I’d say needs improvement is that the music was too loud in the dining area when we went today.

Lovely pub in a lovely location. Plenty of parking and quite easy to get to by car. The perfect place to stop on a nice long canal walk/bike ride. Dog friendly and with a huge beer garden, with a pleasant covered seating area outside. A nice selection of beers but only one cider on tap (Aspall) which might upset cider fans - plenty of other fruity ciders in bottles though. The inside of the pub is lovely, although if the weather’s nice you’ll probably only be going inside to visit the bar or the toilets!

The location is very nice but sadly was disappointed by the food. Had the steak and ale pie which was half a dozen cubes of steak in the bottom of a dish with a huge flaky pastry lid that was mostly fresh air. Spoon of cold mash and hard cold veg and NO gravy. Strike me as being one of those heated from chilled places and not cooked on the premises. Will not eat there again.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere. Food was absolutely delicious. Staff were absolutely incredibly. However there was a sign on the mantle piece asking for a 5 star review which annoyed me so I'm only giving 4 stars

We’ve lived within walking distance of The Trent Lock for years. I noticed they now offer breakfast, so we booked a table for 9am one Sunday morning. I had the Eggs Benedict and my Husband went with the pancakes. The food was lovely and well presented with a coffee and hot chocolate to wash it down. We sat outside as the weather we’re having at the minute is glorious and the surroundings here are perfect. I can definitely recommend breakfast at The Trent Lock.

Fantastic food, the service was very good. Ordered via the app in the beer garden which was very peaceful and well maintained. I had the regular burger, which came with brisket which was a great touch! Overall 5/5, would rate 6 if I could!

Great place for a long dog walk towards Attleborough nature reserve. It’s a 12 km walk a nice pub at the end for a pint.

We had the roast beef and the pork and they were cooked to Perfection. I had the eaton mess for pudding and there was loads so I took some home! The staff are lovely but the service was a bit slow, we waited ages for our drinks. Nice to get 10% NHS discount too, especially after being at work all weekend.

First time visiting Trent Lock Pub Restaurant. Enjoyed it, very pleasant staff, some good choice of beers and the House Burger with the Brisket Beef was lovely. It was a Saturday and it was busy so had a bit of a wait for the food. Wasn't a problem for me but If needed Proactive staff could advise customers up front of any issues. But like anywhere you go at popular periods it's worth asking about time if in a rush. Overall, I enjoyed it and will be going back.

Horrendous experience!!! Cheap tasteless food !! Shocking customer service!!! Following a family Christmas meal this week we were shocked to receive such awful service and food. Massive waste of money…..Having followed up our complaint with management we have received NO form of compensation or solution to our emails other than a “Welcome back” and our feedback being noted.!!

On the night - we were told the Christmas menu would be available over the phone twice! Got there and told it wasn’t on and had to be off main menu with choice of a few special off the board.

Painfully slow service!!! Restaurant and bar SUPER quiet - lack of attention and atmosphere played to our table. Had to remind the waitress about crackers on the table. Food chucked on the plate, food didn’t come out at the same time on any course. Simple lack of details , no butter or lemon on prawn cocktails. Hard overcooked hallumi fries. Over cooked veg, tasteless veg wellington - for saying this is a “special” is was like something out of Iceland !! Tomato sauce was awful , tangy and watery! (See image) Nearly £15 for this ! Steaks not cooked as asked and given 2 small steaks not the size of one as stated on the menu.

Bar staff tried their hardest but couldn’t give discount for this over all BAD experience such a shame as our family love it here as it holds many dear memories….Very very disappointing and such a shame.

Don’t go safe your money.! You’re better off eating at home. I wish we had. As now we won’t get this time back. The whole reason for this family meal was because we won’t be together at Christmas this year. Left a very very sour taste in our mouths!!

Such an unacceptable and unenjoyable experience.

Never again!!!

When we visited it was very quiet at this magnificent sight with the very romantic view of the river. The scenery with its just unaurpassable english countryside feeling is enchanting. The service was excellent and the feeling was more like being at a place that one is well known and highly appreciated rather than a simple pub. The food is very generous in quantity and verybgood in quality and we enjoyed the freshly baked garlic flatbread and the mushrooms. I think that this is a place well worth visiting in the heart of East Midlands and it will definitely be a favourite with us.

Excellent as always. Good quality of food and good portion size, great variety of options, cooked perfectly. The atmosphere, even when busy doesn't feel crowded, the inside has a cosy feeling and makes you feel relaxed. The serving staff are friendly, accommodating and honest. We have been many times and keep going back.
