I've been wanting to come here for years, and while it was nice was somewhat quite disappointed. The scotch egg starter wasn't anywhere near what I expected (deep fried slice of battered pork topped with a fried egg) the waffle's and chicken a tad dry (waffle's seemed like the £1 shop brought premade ones) had about a teaspoon of coleslaw on the plate. The cocktails tho very nice are very expensive (£7-£10 each) I had the British trifle cocktail although was absolutely gorgeous was quite small for £9.50. was Very busy and was quite long waits for things but to be expected for valentine's Day. The staff absolutely lovely, couldn't be more polite or accomodating enough. HUSBAND had the stacked fish burger was absolutely massive and very good value for money he said was very nice (you're looking at About £5 for a pint of draught lager) Overall glad a came but not sure I would return.

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I visited here just after the pandemic and this restaurant was in need of customers. So as I post this I am only writing from my experience at the time and not what you may experience in the near future. All in all not so good. My expectations were obviously too high and should have come here maybe 2 years before. As you can see from my recent photos the setting is still very cool and keeping in good stead the Great British style of pub / seaside theme. The food looked nice but not good either. You can see some cost cutting is taking place at the moment from the photo of the candy floss (no flavouring). Albeit the children’s meals were huge and the chips were done very well. I think any meal without the chip shop chips may be disappointing so stick to what they know! Even though we were not happy with our visit I do really hope they can salvage this restaurant. Times are changing and competition is getting tough for them.

Great service. They’ve got good options for lunch and dinner, as well fairly good deals! We had the fish and chips (large size), which was more than enough. Nice fish, good chips, bread was alright. Was pretty good! Recommend if you fancy fish and chips really.

Have visited a number of times. This place is amazing. The food is wonderful. I love the chicken waffle. It is awesome. The Nuttela chocolate donuts & the chocolate brownies are delicious. Went with the whole family for my daughter's 17th birthday. The head chef was waiting on tables. The service was wonderful. The chef went out of his way to make my daughter's birthday special and he was so kind to my father, who suffers from alzeimers. I keep going back for the wonderful food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Really enjoyed our time here. Staff were perfect and the food was a high standard. People do go here for the fish and chips it seems but the whole menu is great. I had a steak with was perfectly cooked and my deconstructed scotch egg to start was very tasty. The quirky decor is a nice touch and you can even eat in a beach hut !!! Cocktails were quirky and tasty. Great value too.

Fantastic restaurant with a great atmosphere, the building interior is comfortable and had a really nice dated feel, which added to the positive experience. The food was perfect, tasty and served within a timely manner; the staff were friendly and polite. Great place to take the family 😊😋

Been meaning to visit this restaurant since it opened, and tonight didn't disappoint! If advise to book as was heaving as awhile and I can testify it's definitely down to the friendly staff, atmosphere and incredibly well prepared food. Only bad point I noticed and experienced was an ill placed bar that bottle necked the kitchen/serving area when there was more than 6-8 waiting customers. Price wise, spot on .. 3 drinks and 2 mains under £40 Edit 15/04/22 Popped in this evening, not been for a couple of years and will say the staff are still brilliant, very friendly and attentive without being pushy. The food - the grilled fish with sauce was amazing and the API steak pies equally, only thing that let down was the sides ... Chips looked and tasted like uncooked oven chips, hard and anaemic for both of us and my veg was raw hard undercooked green peas .. And looking around we noticed others had left the chips also Shame as last time the chips were proper chip shop 'slop' chips 2 mains and 2 cokes £41

I took my mum here a few weeks ago as a belated Mother’s Day present (she loves fish and chips). The cocktail selection is fantastic, so many to choose from and they tasted exactly as they was described. The food was brilliant and presented well. My mum had traditional fish and chips, she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the chicken and waffle, I thought it was amazing. Great flavours. They have a lunchtime menu, which I believe is on mon-fri 12pm-5pm and it’s £13.95 for two courses (the option I opted for). Definitely worth the money, portion sizes were larger than expected!

This was my first visit to George’s for my birthday. The food was delicious, three of my family are vegetarian and there was a very good selection of meals to choose from. The drinks were very nice and the service excellent. The lovely waitress brought me a surprise dessert for my birthday which was thoughtful. It tasted as good as it looked! Thanks George’s for making my birthday celebration so enjoyable.

We went here for a team meal, unfortunately not long into the evening we had some Prosecco poured on our laps, the waiter was very apologetic and it was all cleared up quickly. Food was okay, veggie option left me and the other person eating it a bit hungry after. The people that served us were lovely and kept checking on us, but when the bill came we had to pay per table? The manager was quite blunt about this fact as well, we were a work party so this was a massive inconvenience and left us sat in the restaurant until after close transferring money. This could have left people massively out of pocket, having to cover the table and wait for the deposits and most restaurants now let you pay individually. All in all relatively average food, lovely serving staff and quite rude management.

Nice fish and chips. Only reason for 4 stars is they weren’t chippy chips… Nice friendly staff.

Was pleasantly surprised! The food is so good here. Portions are massive, the chicken burger was delicious and so was the curry battered fish, definitely worth a visit. Friendly staff and quick service! Nice drinks too. Great location.

Good vegetarian options and a super friendly staff. Authentic British cuisine with dishes such as fish n chips and chicken tikka masala. Also the interior of the restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing.

Visited with my father & his lady for a pre concert dinner. Located in the city centre very close to the Royal Albert Hall. Relatively quiet upon entry being a Thursday evening 1730. Tall ceilings, various old songs played overhead and we were seated a 4 seat table. Finest Haddock ×3 Bread & Butter Arctic Roll Strawberry Cheesecake The chips had a subtle orange hue to them. They weren't crunchy but the flavour and fluffyness within was delightful. Chip shop chips done right. The haddock portions were enjoyed without a single bone present. The batter was a very crispy and NOT pily affair. Very good restaurant fish & chips. I hadn't been here before but they've been a few times and had eagerly recommended it to me prior to my visit. I hear "Georges" are all the rage up North.

Coming here with friends for the first time. I ordered seafood basket and they came with chips n tartare sauce. The amount seafood in there were not worth the £18 ish price. For the drink I ordered George's lemonade and it was actually nice drink. Apart from that Nothing was special with the food here. Over priced n the atmosphere was dead. No music at all. If you want lively, cosy and warm atmosphere place to eat , this place is not for you. Would no be back again in the future. Will just go and order fish n chips from corner chippy.

What an amazing experience we had here last night for a work Christmas meal. From start to finish the service was fantastic. The food came out like clock work and was piping hot and delicious! The drinks were also super tasty and refreshing. The lady who looked after our table is a credit to the team. Very friendly, professional and down to earth. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly - the chefs are a talented bunch! Thank you for making our Christmas meal one to remember. We will definitely be back in the future! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🥳

Just had a fabulous meal at George's. Food was fresh, tasted good and there was plenty of it. The atmosphere was very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for friendly staff, special thank you to Les who took time to make sure we had a lovely meal. We will definitely return.

The good things: Clean, nice atmosphere, waiter checked on us how we like the food, fast service. Student discount. The fish and chips is a must try as it's one of the best in the city. The things could have been better: Please ask next time if we want the drink with ice. My cup was filled up with 🧊 from bottom to top and it was a bit uncomfortable. The other thing was that while we still drank our after-food-tea the waiter suddenly appeared with the bills. Which again, could have been asked first. (Wasn't busy that time to have to rush us out)

The decor is lovely & sea themed, the menu choice is great and the food itself is phenomenal. The staff are very accommodating, nothing is too much trouble, and they're very friendly. Lovely atmosphere and a great vibe. Honestly couldn't fault this place and will 100% be recommending and coming again!

After googling 'best scampi in Nottingham' this place came out tops so I thought I'd give it a try for a business meal, it was well worth the visit as the prawn cocktail with advocado was absolutely delicious, the scampi basket was loaded and gourmet, my colleague had fish and chips, the fish was that huge she took a photo of it to share with friends, not to mention the very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended five star service and quality food, thank you
