Great place to visit if you're after a proper woodland walk. There's a nice mix of easy gravel paths and more adventurous ones though thicker woodland to enjoy. The terrain is quite steep at times though, so it wouldn't really be suited to anyone with any sort of mobility issues. There's also some great open spaces where to can take in the views. I didn't make it to the lake today, but I'll be back very soon to check that out. You could easily make a full day out of visiting here and discovering all the different areas of the park.

Great place to take the family for a fun adventure or you to enjoy a long walk in various settings, allowing you to relax and unwind. Two free car parks, one at Bestwood Lodge, the other near the iconic beautifully preserved Pit headstocks. A range of safe walks to suit all levels and abilities including hills, woods, lakes and parkland. Variety of wildlife can be seen on the water or on the meadows. There is a kids playpark, adventure park and lots of grassy areas for picnics, The river Leen runs through the park and fish including Brown Trout, Minnows and Sticklebacks can be seen too. Well worth the visit and hats off to the council for maintaining this open space on the edge of Nottingham and keeping it free and accessible to all.

Love this place , always have always will . Been a local to these woods for 43 years spent many many hours in these woods as a kid and adult . Many memories. Not much changed apart from the quarry being filled in .

Was my local woodland until recently. The walk from Bestwood Lodge Drive, through to The Winding House, and around Mill Lakes, is my favourite walk to do. Well looked after woodland, the grounds around the hotel are good for picnics in summer.

Always great to go to walk our dogs. The only downsides are the horse poop on the paths, and the occasional newbie riding on the footpaths (explicitly forbidden for horses). Photos here from after the 2022 heatwave, showing very dead and dry grass, and the remains of a wild fire.

Great paths and very open. Can be very muddy and flooded after raining. Ample parking. Dog friendly.

Great low priced volunteer-run cafe! Engaging talk from ex miners in the wheel house too!

This is a really nice place to walk the dog. Plenty of well maintained paths, quite hilly in parts.

Lovely peaceful walk. Amazing for bird song. Spied a couple of unusual birds. Saw very few people. Nice little children's play park and plenty of benches around. Very hilly with lots of valleys. Had the dog off the lead a few times and met a few friendly dogs.

Can't see the woods for the trees.? That's because you're in Bestwood Country Park... Lovely part of Nottingham. Lots of visitors but you don't see many on your walk through this park. Used to play here 50 odd years ago as a kid, still as good now for a stroll.

Beautiful scenery. Lovely, peaceful and relaxing walk. Great for dog walking too. When the cafe/bar is open Bestwood Lodge Hotel and it's sunny, it's a great place to relax.

So many different routes you can take around the park. Lovely for a short or a long walk. Free parking available at the entrance to the park on Park Road.

Not been back here since 2005! And I went recently and how beautiful it is and a lovely lovely walk. If you’re looking for a long walk or a place to jog and run up and down hill terrain, this is a good place for it. For walking dogs, riding bikes, seeing horses etc it’s really good

Nice place for a walk in summer, best take your own drink and food no cafe open in week only on a Saturday morning there are toilets . There is a hotel, the Bestwood lodge. that's open to the public but if you use their carpark it's charged per HR best to use the two free car parks .

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, fantastic interesting old building full of character and charm. Good service and fairly cheap. Nice food. Nice bar and haunted too !! @@@####&&&&& ::Updated Dec 2022.;We stayed for Christmas time after having stayed here 2 times previously. Now owned independently and no longer by Best Western the hotel remains a fascinating old building with old wood panelling and spooky spiral staircases which were formally servants stairs are now used as emergency exits. Staff remain especially hardworking especially Declan, Linda and Rachel who deserves a special mention for going above and beyond. Unfortunately no longer dog friendly under the new owners; our dog being an assistance dog was allowed in but only after some effort and explanation of the requirements of assistance dog access under the equality act. We presented the hotel staff with a leaflet explaining their obligations under law which we hope will mean that others with assistance and service dogs will be welcomed from the offset as we eventually were.

This is my favourite park, and the only reason I've started to enjoy walking. It's relatively quiet, and has both boring open grassy spaces and woodland with good paths. I love walking here, meditating here, watching the horses in their fields, enjoying the views, and even playing on the playground. Its not exactly flat and easy going, and the paths are safe enough for steady feet, but I wouldn't take my grandma there, although I've seen people in mobility scooters who seem to be doing well.

Nice walk around this park the other day. Lots of friendly dog walkers out and about. Some parts of the park had rubbish laid on the ground which saddens me but can't say I saw any bins on the route we took. Interesting to see the old building. Not a bad park but not quite as great as the photos appear on here. Although, we didn't see the whole park.

A huge and wonderful area of ancient woodland that's not too far from the city. Lots of different species of trees including sweet chestnut. Edible mushrooms to be found on the autumn too. Well signposted throughout. Riding stables, Bestwood lodge and wooden kids play area within the woods. The lodge serves food and drinks. Can be muddy so appropriate footwear recommended

A very nice country park, bigger than expected. Lovely paths and a wide range of routes. Definitely worth a walk around if you haven't been before. Also the old colliery is an interesting feature.

Nice place Great scenery. Poor signage and no maps very easy to get lost - as we did and we're walking lost in the darkness asking shadowy strangers for the way out.
