Was doing a 3 day course at the mercure in one of the meetings suites and not a staying guest. The room itself was of a good standard, clean and staff were amazingly friendly and helpful on reception/within the grounds. Water was provided. Only downside I experienced was many children staying there running around and playing in the corridors when I was sitting an exam and trying to learn which was a distraction. The location is close to the city centre, toilet facilities are very clean and to a high standard. Lifts were both in working order with no issues. This was daytime only 08:00-16:00 so nights maybe more quiet.

Came here for a weekend stay to visit family. The hotel was easy to find in the city centre. I’m an employer of a sister hotel, I accidentally left my free stay card behind at home. I spoken to the receptionist and one of the managers of the hotel, it was all rectified and can carry on the stay of my free stay include breakfast. Wasn’t keen on the underground car park was a bit awkward in angles for a 4x4 you have fun at evenings parking. The hotel is very clean, tidy, friendly polite staff. Breakfast was decent easy to find and in one surface than spreading everywhere, glad they do vegetarian sausages out the open of the hot buffet, very good choice of food. Very friendly waitresses (all ladies) it was no trouble for them with my request of high chair and poached eggs. Two chefs were polite and friendly always said good morning. Bar prices are reasonable for the stay. Very nice hotel with retro theme decor. Our room was decent size, smart tv, had a lovely welcoming room of food and drink, of course book and towel toy doll for my little one.

Very small room, nearly smashed my head on the TV screen. I chose the Mercure because it was close to my son, but also it said ample parking, which it does. Only problem is its £12.50 a day to park, when i mentioned it to the check in staff they were particularly dismissive. Mercure need to really highlight parking charges prominently on their website, had i known Iit was to be £12.50 to park, I would have chosen a different hotel. Also it had very small parking bays, glad I've got a small car, many people were struggling to get in. Mercure were unable to offer me a favourable rate for a second night, so I checked out, I was told they didn't know how i'd got the room so cheaply!

The room was clean with Air Con, the shower was great. The hotel restaurant had a great menu. The steaks were one of the best I have had, breakfast was good and the staff were amazing.

Staff are generally great. Food is fab. But 2 rooms we tried and both had issues. The last was: no working hesting, black mould shower overflowed, door chain missing and TV remote gone. Other than that great large room and nice people.

Overall the hotel is a great place to stay, the staff are great, the rooms are clean and modern and the location is good if travelling by car because there is plenty of parking spaces. However, it’s not perfect, even though the rooms are big and clean, it is under equipped, there are large areas where a something like a table would make the room feel more pleasant and cosy and inclusion of a fridge and ironing equipment would be great. There is plenty of spaces for parking, unfortunately you have to pay £12 per night.

I love it, we always use this hotel. The staff are amazing. We had one problem, there was a rep in the restaurant, who had not stayed and was using the place for a coffee, which was fine. The annoying part was that he was on a Teams meeting with no headphones and was shouting. We asked the staff, and they apologised and told us that he ignored them. So I walked up to him and asked him to turn it down please. He did and some of the other guests thanked me. Like I said not a bad point for the hotel.

Great location, nice room, great shower with soaps and shampoo etc. The space between the foot of the bed and the wall is quite tight though. Breakfast seems good but didn't have food there. Some of furniture in the lounge area could be deep cleaned or refurbished.

We book this hotel for convenience to see our son. Hotel is not in town but on a main bus route into Nottingham. Rooms are OK but bed is in dire need of replacement as the mattress had a nice big dip in the middle. Not very quiet as doors are paper thin and room was near lift. Previously we were happy to stay there. But this time, we find that they now charge £12.00 to park. The car park is not barrier controlled / secured either. Also not a town centre location. It's unfortunate, but we can not justify staying there again. There are much better value hotels nearby with free parking. Free parking is what brought me to the hotel previously.

It's a 3-star hotel. Bedrooms are badly in need of refurbishment and small in size. Bathroom fine. Swimming facilities are very grotty. Weekends we stayed, only one lift was working. Breakfast OK! Staff was helpful and friendly 🙂

The hotel was good however there was a few slight issues. The spa/swimming pool was out of use during the visit and the gym was currently undergoing a refurbishment on most of the equipment too - this would have been helpful if it was listed on the website prior to booking. Furthermore we asked for a quiet room but during the night we constantly heard a humming of music (whether this was outside or coming from the floor above we aren’t certain) but didn’t sleep as well as we could have. The breakfast was fair and had a good selection although not a vast variety. The addition of the uncut bread was nice. If we stayed here again we would probably not have breakfast included. The staff were lovely and the bed was comfy so no issues there although we had to ask at reception as they forgot to put the complimentary water as listed in the booking description in the room but was soon sorted after we mentioned it.

Staff were nice and room was clean. Bed was also very comfortable. However, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything! The cleaning lady also walked into our room way before checkout without even knocking, luckily we had the latch on. The facilities also didn’t work (pool, spa, sauna etc) which is partly why we booked to stay here. Would not come here again

Room was lovely. With free cans of drink and a massive bed. TV was nice and big but lacked the ability to use netflix or mirror phone. The shower was lovely, with ample towels and cleaning products. Overall me and the wife found it extremely good for the price.

Really disappointed! Requested a quiet room and got given a noisy room!! Can hear everything going on outside! Also noisy people singing and talking loudly outside the room! Sounds like people partying in their rooms!! The sink was blocked in the bathroom and it stinks! The shower ran hot and cold!! Really distressing!! Can only say, the bar man was very lovely and drinks were very nice. Breakfast staff very lovely too.

Absolutely lovely stay at the Mercure Sherwood, I was pleasantly surprised by how modern the hotel is. It's clean and comfortable with everything you need. Andrea on reception went above and beyond to help me with my check in and all the other things I needed help with All the team were great, especially the breakfast team, the food service and cleanliness was 10/10. I'd definitely stay again and recommend. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful experience! It was a lovely and positive journey. There was challenges with the rooms being overbooked. However , Carrie the manager gave a topnotch experience, with complimentary drinks, and usage of the facility. The jacuzzi was nice, and the sauna and steam room was perfect . Overall i give it 90% , that is because the shower was not very user friendly it did not have a handle so to shower was difficult. Apart from that it was great. Nice staff.. well done

We booked a 2 night stay, following a family bereavement and felt we just needed some time away. The bedroom was very cold and heating did not work. We were given an electric heater which smelt like burning once turned on so it could not be used. We were freezing all night. The bed smelt like the bedding had not been changed from the previous visitor. Therefore, we could not even wrap up to keep warm. When asked if this could be changed we were told not until the following morning therefore, we were unable to sleep that night. Tried to have a shower and the shower basin was blocked. We asked for this to be unblocked and once again was told this could not be done until the following day. Therefore, we were both unable to have a shower. We asked for a change of room but was told the hotel was fully booked. In the bedroom, we could smell stale cigarette smoke and also in the corridors. There were asylum seeker residing on the first floor and their children played football in the car park below our window constantly kicking a football against the building laughing and shouting throughout the afternoon and evening we had NO PEACE during our stay. This was our WORST ever hotel experience. The smell on the first floor when walking to the pool area was disgusting!!!!! We still have another night here which i am dreading. We will be making a formal complaint.

Unfortunately the room was very small and was not easy to move around. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Breakfast had the potential of being excellent but it was too cold and spoilt it. The evening menu was adequate but no atmosphere due to lack of numbers dining. The potential of this hotel is excellent but there is something missing.

Chose this hotel because it is just a five minute walk to Goose Fair and it turned out to be a great choice. I joined their reward scheme before booking and it gained us two free drinks at the bar - anything but spirits. Check in was smooth with all information needed given. Our room was on the third floor. There were two lifts. Would have been a five star review except we felt our room was a little on the small side and the bed a little too soft for us, but comfortable none the less. Room had everything you’d expect plus a little more. Large light up mirror in bathroom, shaving mirror and power point, amazing rainfall shower, and large soft towels. Room itself had large smart TV (you could cast to), open wardrobe, desk, lamp, safe, two bedside tables and wall lamps and tea/coffee making facilities. Also plenty of sockets/usb charging points right where you’d need them. Window openable too and great blackout curtains. Plenty of free parking too but remember to enter your registration number in the computer screen at reception on arrival. Spaces are a little tight especially in the undercover part but there are plenty of them. The hotel also has a restaurant which we didn’t use and also fantastic leisure facilities- swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym which are free to hotel guests. We did check them out and they were beautiful- really wished we had brought our swimming things. Towels are provided free too. We had a great sleep here, hotel was quite busy but our room was very quiet, just how we like it. Would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

We held my father in law’s wake at the hotel today. John was our waiter and he was amazing. So helpful and kind. Awesome service. Wish all the service we receive was a good as this. Great food and we’ll organised.

Ideal location for exploring Nottingham. The room was fantastic, such a comfortable bed. The bathroom was compact but with everything you needed. I had breakfast and the range and quality of food was great. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The room was modern & clean & the bed was a good size. The hotel is a good size too with excellent facilities. Breakfast was excellent & everything was available. I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is perfect, just a stone's throw from the city centre, £5 in an Uber. I didn't get a chance to use the pool 😕 as I didn't have time. + Free Parking + Excellent Breakfast + Good sized room & bed + Stocked in room fridge + Fairly priced + Better than the popular purple & blue hotel chains. No negatives really. The only issue I had was that the plug sockets near the bed didn't work, but that wasn't a major issue. Would I stay here again? YES! (Definitely) 😉

We booked in a group of 10 for 5 rooms. The booking went wrong but they still got 5 rooms ready for us. Rooms were very nice, and quiet. I reported a mess in the lift, it got cleaned up immediately. Things go wrong everywhere but the response to put right was exceptional. Bar was reasonable price which was great while we waited for our rooms. There's a great pub over the road. Breakfast was nice with a good selection. I was really pleased there was an ev charger which I would have loved to have used. As it was available I enquired, no wonder its available they wanted £15 to connect!!! Having driven electric cars for 4 years, this is by a long long way the most expensive charger I have come across. I'm lucky that I have a new ev with a huge battery and could make it back to Birmingham and still have some range spare. A top up would have been nice but as I can totally fill for £3.20 there's no way I'd pay over 10x for a 40% top up. Please sort the pricing, £5 would be expensive but maybe worth the convenience. This is my only gripe.

Insanely expensive for what you get; got a tiny room with no phone to call room service. Air-con broken and apparently hasn't been working for 3 years according to other reviews. An insanely loud ventilation system that kept us up all night and no inclusive breakfast. All negative reviews are met with a copy and pasted response, so they clearly have absolutely no intention of sorting these issues or talking to their customers directly. Avoid.

Very helpful and pleasant staff. We had a 'Privalege' room which was spacious and came with complimentary drinks, robes and nespresso. Our son's room was small but to a high standard also. We will return as it represented good value over all

Disappointed in the room and corridors. Entrance lobby and ground floor are done up very nicely but our room and most of the top floor areas smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke (and strong cleaning supply smells perhaps to try to cover it up) for the entire time of our stay. The room was also ridiculously cramped. There was about a 30cm gap between the wall and the bottom of the bed and the TV had been mounted on the wall right there in a wooden box that stood out some way from the wall, meaning that to cross the room you had to squeeze and lean to avoid banging into the TV. The only floorspace in the room was a small square with stained carpet and a single heavy stained chair where you also had to get dressed, use the open rail for hanging clothes, and access your suitcases on the floor (as there were no drawers to put anything away or unpack anything or space to store or open your suitcases). The price was cheap and there was free parking, a small pool and a gym, but we were both surprised at how cramped, stained and smelly the upstairs were.

Stayed in this fab hotel for the second time and cannot fault my time here. Thank you so much for the amazing stay to the wonderful staff! Thank you to Brenda for letting us choose the room and accommodating all our requests! The super John looking after the delicious breakfast which was definitely worth it! The resturant staff were very polite and attentive, specially Dominik, Cameron and Rowan. Thank you to the chef who cooked dinner for us after the restaurant was closed. We will definitely be back! :)

Hotel was clean & saw Lisa working hard in Ladies toilets. Breakfast was good & varied. Evening meal was average with good starters & desserts but main meals were lacking in vegetables, I thought wines were overpriced paying £26 for bottle of red which costs just over £10 to buy. Service at dinner & breakfast good & waiter John was very attentive & helpful. Bedroom was comfortable with exception of only one chair provided in a shared room.
