I didn't get to stay unfortunately as it was fully booked. But my family had four rooms and book often. The staff couldn't be any nicer, nothing was too much trouble so friendly and welcoming. Even helped us store food for my late grandmother's wake. Can't thank you all enough. Lovely hotel and grounds. Look forward to staying in the future.

I had booked Colwick Hall Hotel for my wedding day this summer. I had booked a hotel room the night before to get ready for my big day. Upon arrival, me and my husband informed Jane the receptionist, that we were due to have our wedding here the following day. Jane advised that regardless of this we would have to check out at 12pm. I’d informed her that I was due to be ready by 1pm so if they could accommodate to my timings for an extra hour that would be greatly appreciated, as it was my wedding day. Jane was being very inconsiderate and extremely disrespectful with the tone of her voice. She had no bother that I was the bride and clearly under a lot of distress after being told that I would be removed from the room at 12pm. It was very evident that I was at the verge of tears. We requested to book for an additional night however was informed this was not possible. After going back and forth we did not get anywhere. Jane then told me to leave my number with her as she could “not be bothered” to walk upstairs to my room to give me an update. Following this a meeting room was provided after I requested to speak to the manager. Further on to my wedding day, being the bride and groom we had parked our wedding car outside the venue. We were then approached by Jane who repeatedly told us to move our car as we were not able to park there. We were not blocking any entrances nor exits. We explained that as the bride and groom our photographer will be taking our pictures in front of the venue but Jane was very adamant that we could not because she claimed this space is required for guests. Jane then argued with my relatives in regards to this matter and again was very inconsiderate and disrespectful. As a bride, I was in a very heavy and expensive wedding dress that I had to tread through grass and mud to be able to enter my wedding venue. We were not given any apology from Jane for this unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. I will most definitely not recommend this venue to family and friends.

We had Afternoon Tea the building itself is beautiful as is the interior decoration. The afternoon tea itself was nice however, the coffee was stewed and I feel I would of preferred less sweet and more savoury items. The grounds are very dilapidated and in need of a gardener and I think it is really bad that to use the hotel car park when visiting the hotel you have to pay £3. Its not the money but the principle.

Had a lovely time celebrating my wonderful friend engagement blessing. The drinks took a while to get sorted. BUT The food was lovely once they started serving and plentiful. I would definitely return. I'd love to try the afternoon tea. Was surprised they now charge for parking, though so be prepared. Beautiful decor and decorations. I would recommend 👌

Spectacular building needs to be seen. Had a two night stay for a 60th birthday party and we were very comfortable. Very good service and lovely food. Good size room nicely decorated with lovely big bed. Beautiful walks nearby. Ancestral home of Lord Byron.

We celebrated our mother's 90th birthday here and had an excellent experience. The food was superb and the service impeccable. Even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits. We highly recommend Colwick Hall and look forward to our next visit.

Visited and over night stay for a wedding. Service, reception and hospitality poor. I asked for a microwave for my porridge and told the chef /cook could not do this for breakfast. Even cheaper motels have this facility. There seemed to be a wedding every day so getting in after the previous and clearing out for the next event is difficult. It is an old beautiful listed building, it does not have a lift and has steps to get in. Barrier entry for parking extra if not staying overnight. 50 people in the wedding room is enough. Some choices of locations for photos. Fountains at the front and back. Look for discounts re day and rooms used. The staff run the event.... I am a professional photographer having worked on hundreds of weddings, in many different locations over many years.

Beautiful building. Really lovely staff. Very comfy bed and a decent telly in the room. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk (plus biscuits and hot chocolate) in the room. Water pressure excellent but oddly a tiny shower in a large bathroom. Cooked breakfast was not great - I’d stay again for sure but I’ll stick to the continental option

Really impressed with this hotel. A lovely location. The grounds were amazing. A little out the way but perfect for the peace and scenery. Very professional, friendly staff. The room was put this world huge and tastefully decorated. Even the breakfast was excellent. Will definitely go back!

We had chosen this venue to get married in, and Naomi had been a star from the very beginning. Even if I had 500 queries, I knew I’d be able to count on her to answer and help me out with every single one. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking, from the ballroom to the grounds, it’s all immaculately kept. Thank you everybody at Colwick Hall for helping our special day be just that much more special!

Colwick Hall Hotel wedding venue We booked a show around for this wedding venue and had fantastic friendly communication right from the first contact. The show around was beautiful: stunning historic building, deceptively huge, stunning decor, attentive and friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. We booked them as our venue the next day and cannot wait to get married here ❤️ We have also had afternoon tea in the restaurant and it was exquisite. They also cater for all dietary requirements as my family are gluten and dairy intolerant. Special thanks to Diandra and Sam for making us feel more like friends than guests.

We had our wedding at Colwick Hall on 9/4/22. We had an amazing day! From booking, the wedding team were brilliant with their communication and answering questions that we had. Sam was so helpful with helping us to book rooms and with the organising on the day, alongside other lovely staff members! The grounds are beautiful. The grand ballroom and champagne lounge were stunning rooms. We had so many compliments on the venue from our guests. The food and drinks were brilliant. The only small area of improvement would be the amount of food. Overall there was actually too much food during the wedding breakfast and for the buffet, which meant that sadly quite a lot of food went to waste (we asked if we could take any of the buffet food home but were not allowed due to health and safety) which was upsetting. We could have had slightly more canapes during the afternoon though as these went quite fast. We stayed the night before and night of the wedding. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was very tasty. We'd definitely come back to stay again!

Booked for afternoon tea for my friend’s birthday and was very disappointed.. although the setting is lovely I felt the experience could have been so much better .. there was not much in the way of welcome or being ‘looked after ‘ we had to ask for hot water for the tea and tea/ coffee was not replenished .. the sandwiches were ok but the scones were hard , crispy and cold and one very small pot of jam was to be shared by 3 people ! Just those little touches like a table cloth and lovely china were missing .. We were expecting a “wonderful” experience for the relatively high price and came away feeling very disappointed especially when we found out we had to pay to get out of the car park not good when you’ve just spent money eating there ! Colwick Hall is a beautiful place and I just think it could do better

We were at Colwick Hall gor afternoon tea for friends birthdays. The hall is close to the river Trent and ideal for a walk through the nearby country park. The food was very nice and the service excellent! The tea and coffee were bottomless and we definitely made the most of that! The only negative is that the hotel charges for parking. I know it is only £3 but that is per 24 hours so if you were staying at the hotel it could mount up.

Stayed for one night bed, breakfast & evening meal. The hotel is a fantastic venue, we had a feature room which was absolutely enormous as was the bathroom ! The food was also very good, staff were very welcoming, ample free parking. Only let down was that we were unable to walk the lovley hotel grounds as they were closed off due to a wedding. We completley understood but I think if this is the case guests probably should be advised on booking and arrival, neither happened. That apart I would recommend a stay to anyone.

Chose this hotel because we were due to see a concert in Nottingham and it's pretty central as well as being highly rated and eclectic. We had a disaster with the concert (due to issues with the venue) but this hotel was the only thing that rescued the trip away. It's a beautiful and old fashioned hotel, all the rooms are different - but unvaryingly large and ornate and it feels like a 5 star experience from the moment you walk in. With the fountain outside it's so elegant. The customer service is excellent, staff couldn't have been more accommodating. And the car park is free for guests of the hotel, which is so much better than other hotels we've stayed at in the area where the parking charge for a couple of nights was extortionate. The only reason for one star less of five stars is that there were a couple of less than perfect issues with our room. One was that there was a vent in the bathroom that hadn't been sealed properly so the lid banged with the wind, and the second was that the large mirror had a big crack on it. I also didn't care much for the smell of fresh decorating in the bathroom, but of course this is just a personal preference. Also there were no complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and no mini fridge for fresh milk with the tea set. Minor things, but the room was pretty expensive so maybe could be looked into. Overall I would recommend staying here if you need to go into Nottingham..it's like another, much fancier world.

Booked 3 rooms last weekend in order to attend a family celebration. Could not fault the hotel, friendly and helpful staff in the bar, restaurant and reception, food lovely, building stunning and rooms clean and well presented, particularly the family suites. Location provided us with the opportunity for nice walk in the morning to round off a great week-end. Thanks to all concerned.

Went for a university event - the gardens are very well maintained, the event area was decorated very well and the staff were pleasant! Best bit was the food - my table all agreed this was the best food we had had from a place that does event catering! Amazing garlic mushrooms on toast, pulled beef with a beautiful mash and gravy and cheesecake pudding!!

We came to colwick hall for afternoon tea. It was a buy a gift voucher present. I only rang the day before and managed to get straight in. It did not disappoint!! The selection of sandwiches and sweet and savoury treats was delicious. Would recommend this to everyone

Beautiful place, massive rooms. Location is set back off the main road. Signage could be a little more informative, but all in all, it is a wonderful place. All the staff are very helpful too.

We had our wedding at Colwick hall on 12th August 2023. It couldn't have been a more magical day. Geetha was so helpful in the run up to the big day and nothing was too much. Sam helped our day run smoothly, including sorting out the bride when we got there too early. All of the staff were incredibly professional, helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. The manager who stayed with us all day was incredible. The grounds and ballroom were stunning and the venue worked with our decorator to ensure it was exactly what we wanted. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you

Had afternoon tea here. Very friendly staff and good service. The 'tea' was lovely, warm soup and quiche, 4 varieties of sandwiches, cream scones and a selection of cakes. I would definitely recommend.

We went for afternoon tea and enjoyed it very much. The room was very pleasant and service was good. Afterwards we went around the lakes and along the river to walk off the cake.

Went for afternoon tea (Christmas themed was extra due to the date of visit, no other option was available) and it was not great. Some of the food was childish (cream cheese & cheddar cranberry bread roll, the bright blue icing cupcake) and some just tasted awful (very salty bean soup, the artificial flavour blue jelly, the stale chocolate cake bite, overwhipped cream for the scones). I think it could have been classier. Service was fine, there was only 1 waitress and sometimes she missed the cues for refilling teas and coffees.

Went for afternoon tea. I believed I had booked a Grand Afternoon Tea as there were separate Book Online buttons next to the afternoon tea descriptions. Seems though you only book a table and when we got there they couldn't do the grand one as it "wasn't in the notes" which I had no idea I had to write and that "was not what they had prepared for us" . Also they say its in the Brasserie which is supposed to be a beautifully decorated Christmas theme but because they had a Christmas party in there we ended up in a soleless room with, at least initially, no music and hardly any people. They should not have taken my booking if the room advertised was not available or at least they should have informed me of such. Was for my daughters birthday too so not good. They also appeared short staffed. The Frozen afternoon tea, which is what we ended up with, is also a bit disappointing too. Don't really want soup and jelly included thanks. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

Visited for afternoon tea. A pleasant setting, with a nice dining atmosphere. Well presented food and a good selection of options. The hotel has great facilities and feels very spacious - lots of car parking and walking options nearby.

Stayed at Colwick Hall as a guest for my friends Wedding. The rooms were huge, clean and very comfortable. Service was great with nothing being a problem. Although the Wedding was not at the venue we came back from the reception and was given extra service above and beyond. Thanks from Australian traveller

Customer service was absolutely terrible - myself & bridal party stayed here 22/06/23. Aircon / cooling unit was not working in the bridal suite, we were absolutely melting getting ready for my friends special day. We were promised by the guy at reception that someone would come and look at it the next morning, but of course no one did. The windows in the room would not open, we had one fan between us all to try and keep cool. The reception guy was terribly rude, did not accommodate our needs & didn’t even smile once! He also tried to overcharge for the price of one of the rooms. When you pay good money to stay in a supposedly luxury venue, you expect the bare minimum customer service. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the location is quiet and peaceful, however I will absolutely not be back here.

Out on a 6 mile walk. Decided to stop for a cuppa. Warmly welcomed. Service was satisfactory given the was a wedding in an adjacent room. Splendid environment. Quality facility and beautiful location. Well worth finding out for yourself, because I think you will love the place.

Reception desk unmanned on our arrival (hence only 4 stars) but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Lovely large room with a large comfortable bed and large en suite bathroom. Accommodated our request for an early dinner so we had plenty of time to walk to the Motor point Arena to see Andre Rieu and his lovely orchestra. Our first night away from home for some time and we had a very enjoyable stay. Nice breakfast - would recommend.

Very disappointing! We chose Colwick Hall for afternoon tea based on the website photographs which in no way represent what you are actually served. The outside of the teapot was badly stained, the sandwiches were very poor with tasteless fillings, the scones were dry and the cream and jam were presented in old, tarnished clear plastic beakers which looked appalling. We have been to many different venues and have never experienced such poor presentation or quality of food, especially for a 4 star hotel. I don’t like to leave such a negative review but for £75 for three people, there are so many other better places to go. I would add that the staff were very friendly.

Lovely Hotel, great to chill out for afew days, The people who work here are helpful, pleasant and are attentive to your needs. Lovely Grounds to walk round. Please be aware this build is at least 800 years old and has been restored and work is still being done, this does not affect the stay at all. Rooms are all lovely, many furnishings are old but are in keeping with this period House. Check it out, your be amazed.

Excellent service!!!! Especially from a young lady named Faith. The perfect temperament and fully attentive to the guests requests. I always like to tip good service especially when you consider the wage they likely recieve and with being students usually. Not an easy job but she manages it in style.

We had an afternoon tea in Byrons Brasserie. The food was delicious - 4 sandwiches, 2 savoury items, scone cream and jam and 4 dessert items. Plus as much tea (or coffee) as we wanted. We really enjoyed the afternoon tea. Staff we friendly, polite and attentive, we received excellent service. Lovely atmosphere and we felt very relaxed. We will definitely come again!

Christmas Day Lunch This was the second time we came for Christmas Day Lunch with family and comes highly recommend. The setting is beautiful with lovely decorations and atmosphere. The food was beautiful and the staff worked so hard and really looked after us. We will definitely be going again next Christmas. Thank you Colwick Hall for a wonderful Christmas.

Afternoon tea was a bit disappointing, the food was nothing special, they increased the afternoon tea price for the Jubilee weekend, however portions sizes were stingy considering the upper market price. Sandwiches were basic. Service staff were friendly but gave little information. It's lovely location but the room acoustic needs to be improved. I would not return.

Me and my partner love to book a night or two in cozy hotels from time to time and I have to admit that a stay in the Colwick Hall Hotel was the most remarkable and remembering. Fantastic decor is elegant and full of some elements of 16-18 century. Hotel's staff is very polite and welcoming! I would like to say my extra "thank you" to Matthew who, I believe, is a manager of the Colwick Hall Hotel for giving me a very interesting guide tour around this unique hotel. It looked and felt like a professional excursion tour. I was amazed and overwhelmed!! Many thanks Matthew for this wonderful opportunity to learn more about my beloved Nottingham! 🖐👍🖐👍. Kind regards. Ola

Outside gardens are nice but the lake could do with a clean up and the marquee they could make it look better. It just looks like a big tent but not even a good one at that. The materials and fabric used don't look professional and unless your ready to pay 9-10K doing the place up with decor i would avoid and get a better looking marquee tent tbh

It took a year of planning and some many miles of travel, but when you live in South Devon and want a wedding venue in Nottingham this is to be expected. But with the help of Geetha and her colleagues at Colwick, it all went smoothly and towards the end we felt almost part of the family. We wanted a small wedding of 35 people but we wanted it to be special. The Hall itself provided the framework, the chef provided the amazing 3 course menu, the gardens and lake provided the photogenic background, the DJ made us dance and the staff made sure it went all smoothly to plan. A day we will never forget.

Wedding venue. Great location but wedding marquees were like a furnace not adequate air conditioning facilities or enough fans. Toilets were very tatty and not kept clean. But wedding set up beautiful, size of venue great. Outdoor spaces stunning and well kept.

We had a lovely big room which overlooked the front garden, racecourse and across to the hills. The bathroom was great, with bath and separate shower which I really liked as had a "rainforest" shower head. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and so nicely presented. Really enjoyed our mini break and hope to go again. As windows were open we did get a few spiders come in but housekeeping got rid of them for us. Bed comfortable. Would recommend staying .
