Hands down the best ever coffee shop that I have ever been to! Family-run, with grandma making the cakes. So much love, care and attention paid to every product. The staff are also incredible, with a warm welcome and smile throughout. Was impressed by the knowledge of each of their products too, and the coffees they have are all outstanding. We ate here on two days and the food really is wonderful. Highly recommend both the French toast bun with ricotta and compote, as well as the brioche bun with truffle, mushrooms and eggs. Will definitely return when we are back in Nottingham!

Part of my Nottingham cafe review series. Great shop with a lovely atmosphere! Perfect for people with dietary restrictions with vegan options, minor figures oat milk etc. Plenty of customization options with your drinks! This coffee shop has plenty of seating and is perfect whether you're a beginner or connoisseur towards coffee, wanting a chat with a friend or need a quiet relaxed space to work on your laptop. It's also right next to Old Market Square so transport options are everywhere :). I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out, especially on a rainy day!

The coffee is really good, the baristas are so friendly and welcoming plus the music they play is just 11/10. Also love how much natural lights comes into the cafe. Cannot recommend this place enough :) Thank you, will be back when I visit Notts again !

Dazzlingly good coffee. In fact, the whole experience was wonderful. Sat in a sunny window with an amazing playlist... it was the best possible use of those few minutes on a Friday afternoon. Wonderful.

Awesome coffee and amazing people. This is a real gem of a coffee shop and Michelangelo is literally a fountain of knowledge of all things coffee. You always get a warm welcome no matter how busy they are. I must have had every style of coffee on the menu here and all have been excellent.

Food was really good and tasty, the truffle oil update the plat so much. Matcha tea was ridiculous small and expensive for what it was. I would have like better the chickpeas to be crispy.

Espresso is really really really nice. The extraction just at the point. Acidity, Sweetness, Fruitiness are well balanced. We order a Filter "Honey Anaerobic" as well. Just WOW !!! Always think Anaerobic Process were all the same. It just blow our mind. Staff are passionate & friendly. A perfect experience. Would come back for sure!!!

First visit after they re-opening 🎉 🌼 We were so excited to visit @thespecialtynottingham again as it is one of our favourite local coffee shops !! They have completed the renovation and the feeling is completely different !! However, there is something that hasn’t changed at all, it’s the friendly staff ❤️ You will feel a very warm welcome once you enter the coffee shop 😊 Nice place for chilling out with friends 👭🏻 However when we visited , there were only 🍰 cake and ☕️ coffee... and we can’t wait for the brunch and food become available again !! ⭐️ Good things are always worth for waiting !! Right ? ✅

Great coffee roasts which change regularly, staff are all friendly, small selection of really nice food like focaccia sandwiches, pastry BUT the local cheesecake is incredible, definitely have the cheesecake. Massive plus for being dog friendly.

The coffee shop exudes a serene atmosphere, accompanied by impeccable service. However, I wish there were a wider variety of food options available. My order of a brawny and chai latte was satisfactory, and the cheesecake I tried was particularly delightful.

Absolutely fantastic coffee shop definitely one of the best in nottingham! Excellent coffee knowledge and amazing cakes as well I unfortunately didn’t catch the baristas name but he was great and even gave a fantastic recommendation for v60 and aeropress which me and my friend took his advice on and were definitely not disappointed! If the barista reads this review it was lovely chatting to you, please let me know when you want to look at that new pc for the strategy games!

I ordered a V60 fruit flavour but I didn't like it so I ask the barrister to change my order to another beans and it was Ethiopian, plus you change my order without paying anything and I really like it.

The coffee and sweet treats are immaculate and always hit the spot. The vibe is super relaxed and welcoming, perfect for doing some work or catching up with friends. Baz and Steven are the best barristas anyone could ask for, they're super knowledgeable, super friendly, and provide the best service. And might I add that the coffee art is beautiful and clearly made with love.

So good that I almost don’t want anyone else to know about it. Great pour over and exceptionally warm and knowledgable owner. I haven’t had a comparable coffee. Though they catering to all tastes, I had a really funky barrel fermented bean that broke my mind a little - superb!

I've been here before Covid just for coffee. And it was fantastic then. Went there today for brunch and it was absolutely fabulous, loved it! Covid safe and the waitstaff were wonderful. Definitely a recommendation.

The friendliest service in Nottingham! I’ve visited twice and both times the people and coffee have been just lovely. Jump off the tram at Old Market Square and start your coffee crawl of this great city here 🚊

Very lovely cafe, some cants aren’t bothered about being around people, no fault probably just get too much attention! Food is very reasonable and entry fee! Love that the cats are rescued others are just pedigrees that have been bought, these ones had their own little back story’s!

A very quaint, comfortable spot with a fantastic menu! I got the red rooibos latte, focaccia, ravioli burro e salvia, and Morellino wine. Everything was delicious!

Popped in for a quick snack and enjoyed a decadent bacon and egg roll (pictured) along with brew of the day (filter coffee). Staff are brilliant - friendly and attentive. Food and coffee tasted great. Didn’t get a chance to try the cakes - next time.

This is a great little coffee shop. The staff are really friendly, and they served up some of the most incredible pancakes I have ever eaten. Some people seem to complain about the waiting times. Personally, I don't mind waiting a few minutes for quality.

Great place - booked a table and they were swift with all correspondence. Decor was on point and their coffee was top notch too. Would heartily recommend.

Wonderful. Really good quality coffee. The staff are super friendly too. Their carrots cake is moist and really tasty . I would highly recommend this place.

The butternut hot cake is seriously one of the best food I’ve ver had, the roasted kale and veggies have the best balance of sour, sweet and salty, the beetroot sauce goes amazingly with the hot cake, the pesto added a perfect amount of alternative dressing with the hot cake. The smoothie is nice, the cakes look like art, I ordered the chocolate pistachio cake, it’s very very good, I like the dark chocolate on the top, the texture of the cake is perfect, and pistachio cream in the middle is very unique and satisfying, just I am not a sweet tooth so it’s quite sweet to me (but it’s just me). Absolutely adore this coffee shop, will definitely go back again, the staffs were very nice and friendly, it’s just a very very lovely and warm and relaxing place to visit 🤍

Lovely staff. They were really friendly and helpful. We only had the puddings but we loved it! The coffee was also great. A wonderful place to go to if you enjoy a quiet (er) and relaxing ambiance. Perfect for conversations and taking a break on a hectic day. The location is good because you can visit some lovely shops nearby and also walk to the old Market Square!

Absolutely stunning coffee...the first place I've been to where the coffee didn't need sugar or syrups. It was fantastic on its own. Such friendly staff, talking to an eager coffee enthusiast! Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Lovely coffee and nicely decorated cafe however the service was shocking. We waited 20 minutes for a latte and a cappuccino and then had to ask to order our food. We then waited another 20 minutes for our food to arrive which was only 3 small focaccia breads which would have only needed warming up… the cafe wasn’t at full capacity so I don’t understand why the service was so below adequate. Maybe because there was only one waitress on shift? I was so looking forward to trying this cafe out as I’d heard such good things but wouldn’t hurry to return and the people I was with agreed….

Have been coming here for almost a year, and can't recommend it enough. There's always something new to try, baristas are friendly and (as at least one reviewer has already mentioned) you can steal a bit of winter sunlight through the windows over the magic they whip up. Food's nice, too, but I wish they'd bring back the vegan roast veggie sandwiches!
