Very nice walk through the forest with lots of beautiful nature to see. The tree is fenced off but still nice to see. The car park is expensive but you just pay for the car. Should be more places to park for free but has been turned into a money making experience rather than trying to get people out into nature

Wow great to see the major oak after many years. As a small child I once actually went inside. Sadly now you're not allowed close, this is to keep it preserved for future generations. We enjoyed the walk through the Giant Oaks.

A wonderful piece of history with lots of facts. Took the dog and enjoyed the scenery, the kids loved the atmosphere and the stories. Good gift shop and cafe!

Great place to visit, lots of activities. Different walks including that to the Major Oak are well signposted. Parking was plentiful including accessible parking, price was Β£5 per day payable using an app. Short walk to the forest trail from the car park. Gift shops reasonably priced. Visited during school holidays which may be why there were plenty of activities to take part in, some were chargeable.

Considering the tree is between 800 and 1100 years old and still standing is amazing. Sherwood forest had some great hiking trails. I came off season, so it wasn't crowded.

Lovely walk with plenty of things to do. Visitors centre offers lots of information and great little arts and crafts centre. The major Oak was smaller than expected from previously seen photos but still a beautiful spot to spend the day.

There is a large car park (pay and display) opposite Sherwood Forest. You just walk from there across the road and into the forest. No admission charge for Sherwood Forest. There are disabled parking facilities nearer to the entrance of the forest (sign posted). There is a cafe (see photo for menu) with inside and outside seating. There are toilets, including baby change and disabled. This is adjacent to the gift shop. You then walk around the forest. The major oak is the main part of the Sherwood Forest due to it being a core part of the Robin Hood legend. You can dress the part (costume and hats etc in the shop for little ones and hats for adults) and explore the forest. The major oak is behind a fence now to keep it protected.

Excellent day out for the family. Lovely little cafe and gift shop. Various walks depending on how far you want to go. We visited at the back end of the summer festival. Maid Marion and Robin Hood were great with the kids. Archery was brilliant- my 7 year old had a great time.

Such a lovely walk on sherwood forest and various different paths to take with appropriate signage so you can enjoy the forest without worryingyiu might get lost. The Major Oak tree is absolutely majestic. I also enjoyed the local shops just before the visitor's centre. Overall a great day out ☺️

The major oak is really disappointing, a huge old tree held up by scaffolding so a very unnatural sight which to me makes it not worth seeing. Once your out the main tourist center there are some nice walks. The carpark was Β£10 to park, and there is a collection of cafes at the entrance. Looks very focused on trying to get every penny possible out of parents trying to get their kids out in nature. Nice for a dog walks too once your past that area.

One of my favourite places to visit and take walks around. Having grew up around this area I love the forest walks and the major oak. Definitely a go to place to visit with family.

This was a great experience. The parking was plentiful and we had to pay. A short walk to the gift shop and then a walk of half a mile to see 400 + year old oak tree which was beautiful. I have never seen so many oak trees in one place. It was an exceptional day.

Beautiful park with a big tree in the centre. But it's just that. My expectations were probably a bit too high. I was expecting a bit more "wow", a bit more "robin hood". Instead there is some archery and a tent selling trinkets. Still worth visiting for the nature.

Beautiful natural park that can be easily explored by food, no access with vehicles or bicycles. Ideal for spending few good hours in nature. 800-1000 years old tree 🌳 that's something quite unique and worthy to see. In addition the park has a caffe/restaurant, a dog shop where you can buy special dog ice cream for your favourite pet. NOTE: Don't buy the ice cream for your partner. She/he might not enjoy the joke :))))))

The Major Oak is a remarkable ancient oak; worth a walk to visit. If you take the shortest route you will walk just over half a mile from the visitor centre. Longer circular routes are available. Car parking is across the road. Don’t use the phone app; use the pay and display.

Nice walk through the woods, about 10/15 mins to Major Oak. The visitor centre is lovely and has some local souvenirs. The cafe looks nice but we didn't go in so can't comment on the food.

I went inside the tree over 40 years ago with 3 of my cousins and a group of Japanese tourists who took our photo. It was lovely to see this beautiful and magnificent tree again it bought back some good memories from my childhood.

Always lovely to by "The Big Tree" and it was looking the best I've seen it for quite some time. Sherwood Forest is great to walk around and plenty to do - lovely play park for the little ones, cafe for the big ones, picnic benches available and loads of space for a football, cricket, rounders etc. Also, lots of craft shops for gifts etc and a small amusement park aimed at young children with a few rides. The parking machines are a bit fiddly and access to the internet patchy for using the parking app but that was the only downside.

Such an interesting place to visit. Lots of different walks so you can make it as long or short as you want. Great cafe and seating area. Got to do a stitch with the fabulous ladies doing a tapestry!

It is still an amazing tree, even though its fenced off, a steady walk up to it, not far, easily accessible for all ages and abilities.. Nice trails to follow..

A good place to head for when starting to discover Sherwood Forest. Right at the heart of the forest, it gives a great sense of the history and scale of this ancient woodland.

Impressive. Good, wide trails suitable for all. Nice cafe just before the visitors centre (opposite the cricket pavilion). Could spend hours exploring.

A stunning place steeped in deep history, you can almost feel what it would have been like sitting on a cart behind a horse, trundling down some of the little tracks. There are so many lanes to explore, all with little features of their own along the way.

Nice, easy walk to The Major Oak. Plenty of benches on the way to rest if you need it. It’s a beautiful old tree and really adds to the legend of Robin Hood.
