Lovely countryside location and plenty of free parking which gives you access to the garden centre and cafe which is also there. The gallery is well set up and contains a great selection of artwork and family collections of items, all displayed attractively and clearly labelled. I found the display to be really interesting. There are a couple of gallery shops that offer interesting items. All in all a really pleasant experience!

We were visting the garden center next door and decided to have a look round as we had passed it many times. I found it interesting with some nice exhibits. It was free entry over 2 floors but there is a lift available and toilets. There is a gift shop too. Worth a look round..

Excellent free exhibition of contemporary work. Also free entry to the Portland collection showing items from the Dukes of Portland's personal collection. Well worth a visit.

Nice art gallery with free entry with different art to look at every few months, quirky gift shop which sells cool wee things, hoping the Lego exhibitions come back again as it’s great for kids, there is always an interaction table upstairs for kids to get involved with arts & crafts designing and making there own creations , café next door is nice with does a nice latte 👍

Second visit to this venue as on first visit the Portland Collection section was closed due to Covid and it was very worthwhile, would recommend to everyone. A highlight was the Harley Cafe where we enjoyed a lovely lunch. We will be going back in the future!!

First visit promted by visiting family locally. What a fantastic asset to us all. Well worth a visit & the current photographic exhibitions were well worth a separate visit. Good friendly service from the cafe'

Love this place it's fascinating. Full of treasures. My favourite object is Charles ll pearl earring. Such a shame the Portland Tiara was stolen, what a stunning piece that was. All that is left is the damaged armoured display case and the cctv video of the robbery on You tube.

What a wonderful tour of The Abbey State rooms. Breathtaking decor, carvings and furniture. Two very knowledgable guides who spoke with enthusiasm. Marvellous experience and great to refer to the book at home with photographs of art masterpieces I had actually seen. Have to see to appreciate scale and skills, so lucky to have this beautiful place to visit, as well as the Harley Gallery and craft/gift retail outlet. You need a full day here, and then more, to appreciate this amazing place.

Nested in such a beautiful setting. Visiting the gallery is a must. Popped into it during a visit to Earth and Fire exhibition . Some real fine pieces on display and for sale. Lovely place and coffee shops around.

Excellent experience modern art in my book not as good as the Portland gallery exhibition which presents paintings and other precious exhibits from bygone ages.

Went to see the Elizabeth I miniature and other 400 year old artifacts. It's not a big exhibition but it is well worth a visit. Being free, with good facilities and a nice stroll to cresswell crags what more could you ask for?!

Our first visit today and we really enjoyed the experience. The galleries are brilliant. The cafe was scrumptious and we will definitely go again and take others with us.

Beautiful inspiring exhibitions, gorgeous gift shop, lovely museum. So much to do as there is usually a community art project to take part in too. There is also a cafe, farm shop and huge garden centre. As well as a lovely walk to the Creswell Craggs visitors site. My daughter and I love visiting and will be back again soon.

I discovered this place by accident, it's a beautiful place. They have a wonderful gallery that I recommend you check out, a farm shop, a cafe and a great place for plants and other decorations.

I enjoyed the museum/exhibition and the farm shop was well stocked. I decided to go for a walk to see the tunnel feature which was quite impressive. However upon returning at just before 17:00 I found that the gate had already been locked! I ended up walking up and down the road trying to find a way back to my car and had to walk along the road back to the junction. Would have been four ⭐ otherwise.

What a fabulous day out! Easy to find destination / ample car parking / lovely cafe with good coffee, cakes and meals / clean loos / interesting modern art / traditional but manageable museum style exhibition / wonderful staff at every point / relaxing countryside walk through to Cresswell Crags / garden centre / farm shop with really good produce and reasonable prices. What's not to like.

Great place for a range of good and interesting items. There is also the gallery with changing exhibitions. The farm shop is my regular bacon and egg supplier. Lots of free parking plus a decent garden centre as well. The gallery of artefacts from the Welbeck house and its history is well worth a trip on its own

Did the Stateroom Tour, fantastic. Guides were excellent. After that we did the Portland Collection Museum and the Harley Gallery, both free entry. Free parking too. Toilet facilities clean and accessible. Fabulous full day out if you include lunch at the café and a stroll around the garden centre, all on the same site. Also a great farm shop, top quality.

I visited at the weekend and discovered that the toilets are now unisex! WHY! Just 2 toilets in the same small area? Who on earth thinks that is right? Who ever made this decision needs to realise that women do not want to use a toilet with a man in the next cubicle??? We need privacy in the toilet, please don't tell me this is progress its a disgrace! The last time I visited the ladies toilets were a very nice standard and Separate! Can we have them back please. The Cafe is great I love it but won't ever visit again , what a shame.
