Lovely place to visit for half a day out. Lots of walking around though, uphill and downhill, so brace yourself for that! The cave tour was pretty good too. Good cafe with a great view and clean toilets everywhere. Two play areas (that I'm aware of) for the kids. Cable car ride was shorter than expected but eh, definitely worth a visit if you're driving from closeby.

Overall, it was a pleasant day out for families with young children. People in push chairs, wheelchairs, and the elderly who are unable to walk for long distances for any reason may struggle. Not enough parking space, slightly overpriced, long lines everywhere, and not as exciting as the marketing and interactive map suggest. Positives: The cable car and scenery were fantastic. The kids' two play areas was enjoyable. The restaurant staff and other employees were incredibly helpful and nice. One of the serving lady assisted us in clearing our wet picnic bag and offered us a bin liner. The walks are hilly, but I adore walking, so I had a good time. Big shout out to tour guy who made the tour of the cavern worth the trip with his jokes as there’s not a lot to see down there. Negatives: The parking was full and countless cars doing laps for a space, having to rely on public car parks in town, meeting the cable car time slot can be challenging. After waiting in queue for the cable car we reached the top. Whilst it may look very big on the map, it isn’t that huge and the 2 caverns are the major activity apart from the play areas and the Tower. The caverns were mediocre at best. Food were expensive as expected, Make sure you take a picnic.Worst queue of all was for the ice cream.

Cable cars are fun! 6 max in one carriage. Easy to get on and off even for kids. Met by a lovely man at the top dressed in period costume. Went into the top cave first before lines started. Old mining cave really, but interesting- is 7° so wrap up. It's very steep everywhere, especially to get to the bottom cave. Steps are ridiculously high so we went via the longer slope and still had to stop sporadically. Lots of lovely views and plenty of play areas for the kids. Proper slides. Tall tower you can climb up and see out from the top. Dogs welcome although not in the caves. Rockshop was great and the information centre. We got there at 10am and had finished by noon when it was just getting really busy.

We visited this place as a family. My mother was on her electric scooter. This place was accessible but a lot of the routes were way too steep. Her scooter went out of control twice. The cable car ride was short and we got to the other side pretty quickly. We also visited the historic caves which was included in this excursion. Anyone with a mobility or heart condition are not recommended to visit these caves. This excursion involved 175 steps. It was nice and cool in the caves. The other end was a nice view point where we took loads of pics. From kids point of view their were slides, swings and a puppet show. We also visited the high street nearby where we had fish and chips as brunch. Even though we visited this place on a Monday their was no parking whatsoever. We ended up parking on the high street which took 20 minutes to find.

Nice place to spend some family time. Great views. I spent there 2 hours with family and to be honest we were in rush to catch piece of everything. We've seen caverns and Tower. We took a minute to stop at long view point. There are 2 playgrounds which my daughter enjoyed but sadly we haven't enough time to stop for longer. There is few restaurants. Last cable car run is just before 5 pm. Dogs are allowed everywhere apart from caverns.

Although it was a new experience for my family, however, I must mention the tickets are way too much more expensive than what you gonna get or they are offering. The cable car ride lasted a few minutes only, which was extremely disappointing. There's not much thing to do except the cave visit. Huge problem with the parking. Will never recommend any of my friends to go there as it is not worth paying that much money for nothing.

When we went first time last year we loved it so we made annual pass and visited so many times after that. Every time is fun. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Beautiful views and restaurant up there for food with plenty of food options. So much fun. Activities for kids.

Amazing!! I think we booked ticket for about 10am. Stayed until about 2:30pm. Its a whole day of fun. 2 amazing cave tours: props to Sophie! A nice mineral/rock shop and amazing views. Not really for people with low mobility, but there are some areas to chill, and there's a video tour of the caves in a building for people who cant go in. The food in the cafe was amazing too! Great nachos, I got the pulled pork burger, and my partner had fish & chips. Highly rated. Book tickets in advance and check to see if your hotel offers discounts in partnership.

A fantastic day out learning about this area and its history! We had Andi for our first cavern tour and she was absolutely amazing! She gave us a brief history and geology info on the limestone and when the cavern were being mined. Mr. Benjamin Bryan was another delight! He gave us a short tour and was great in character!! The walk around was pleasant with plenty of information on boards and online along the way! The cable car to and from the park was great too! Our dog loved the day and she was made very welcome!! Don’t forgot to look beyond the park and into Derbyshire! The views are breathtaking!!

Booked online but you still have to queue to enter to collect tickets from the ticket office. Parking was at the train station but it fills up quickly so allow plenty of time to park. We enjoyed ourselves & the views from the cable cars are beautiful. If you have health or mobility issues check the website information as inadvisable to go into the caverns. All the staff were friendly & helpful. Take a picnic as food is expensive. Felt a little too much like a theme park to get 5 stars but overall was an enjoyable trip.

Overall a fantastic place to visit. Scenic views from the top of the mountains. Well maintained place with walking trails and fresh mountain air A good place to spend time with kids and family. There is a cable car ride which take you to the summit. Quite an enjoyable experience.

Hadn't heard of this place before but was pleasantly surprised when we visited this weekend. Lovely views over Matlock Bath from the cable car. The guided tours of the caverns were very interesting, but be warned; the hills and steps you need to walk up/down can be very tiring even for fit people.

Lovely place to visit, cable car up and down with beautiful views on the way. Went into both caves, our tour guide Russ/Ross was brilliant; really knows his stuff and makes it both interesting and enjoyable. Lots of hills and steps around - the map makes the place look larger than it feels but things are pretty close together which is good. The most strenuous walk is to and from the tavern / Rutland cavern. Couple of good play areas for kids. Overall, staff very pleasant. Took our own lunch but food looked good although quite expensive but that is expected at a visitor attraction.

It's an extraordinary place to go to as a day trip! The scenery from the cable car and the view from the mountain top are amazing and refreshing (obviously try going on a day with good weather). There are many attractions up there. All the staffs there (including the owner Benjamin!) have provided the best services I've experienced so far. They are all really friendly, professional and very enthusiastic about this place. I'm sure this strong enthusiasm influences all the visitors in a positive way. It was my anniversary and their enthusiasm has made our day so fantastic, thank you! The two Carven tour guides are the must-go, they deliver such fabulous tours. We had Melanie for our tour guide and personally it's the best tour guide I had so far!

Fantastic place to visit with the kids. It was relatively pricey for one day, but they loved the cable cars, playgrounds, cave tour and the numerous other areas to explore. Next time we will get there earlier to spend the whole day and leave time for a nice coffee and cake in one of the many cafés in Matlock below. We'll definitely be back, a great time was had by all!

So many brilliant things to do which are all included in the price of the ticket. This is a great place to take children. I'd reccomend wearing walking boots or comfy shoes as there's a lot of big slopes and hills. Maybe take a light jacket as the caves are about 4 degrees inside. The staff were all lovely and the cave tour guides were a highlight of our visit.

I went to the Heights of Abraham on the 15.08.2023 for low-light Photography practice. I have attached a few ‘tourist’ photos for the curious public to see what the location and it’s many views are like. The experience was great, from the start to finish. The cable cars are spacious, safe, secured with thick rope, with a cross section of the rope viewable inside one of the attractions, and ventilated. An enjoyable, albeit short, experience. The attending staff are friendly professional and polite. On the return journey a few people in the group were nervous and the attendees went out of their way to lift spirits, tell jokes, and put them at ease. The tours of the caverns are conducted well. They are informative, humorous, and one includes some brief acapella, with no whistling. The steps inside the caverns are, unavoidably, a little steep due to nature of the caverns and so those with mobility impairments may want to approach them with caution – there are plenty of vistas to see that are accessible through out the area. The food is well made and presented. The thick cut bacon and brie panani with tomato, pepper and salad is under £10 and there is both indoor and outside seating although the metal bar on the main outside seating area does obstruct the view a little. The exhibits are interesting, informative and well presented. We have included a few images of a few of the items on display for the curious reader. The incline of the entire area is steep but accommodations have been made. Overall an enjoyable experience but do be prepared for some cardio.

Driven/walked past the cable car so many times but had never taken the trip up. Was a great day out and would highly recommend. The cave tours were entertaining and educational. Some interesting exhibitions and great views, once the mist had lifted.

Great day out. Can spend hours there as lots to do. Cable cars give good views of the valley. There’s a free tour of the caves and various view points. There’s cafes and ice creme stands as well as a little gift shop.

The Heights of Abraham is a tourist attraction in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, UK. It’s a hilltop park that can be reached by cable car, and it offers stunning views of the surrounding area. The attraction features cavern tours, walking trails, and various activities, making it a popular destination for visitors to the Peak District. It is a bit pricey as you need to purchase cable car tickets to go up but the price of the ticket includes two guided tours in two different caves. It has a restaurant and a cafe with a variety of delicious cakes and savoury foods with a a beautiful view of a valley! It’s a bit cheaper if you buy tickets on line . If you come on a weekend be prepared to struggle to find parking as it’s very popular are in general so google your options for parking.

Really enjoyed our visit. Views are amazing from the Cable Car and the Heights of Abraham. Something for everyone here. There are lots of hilly paths so be aware if you're less mobile. Family members went into the Caves and really enjoyed it.

Cable car ride gives a great view over Matlock bath. Cavern tours are very informative . Robert Walker (Aka Frank) was our tour guide on the Great Rutland cavern tour very welcoming, He makes the tour fun and educational for both the parents and children. My daughter chose this as a birthday morning out, and we are all glad she did. Great family memories. Will be visiting again, no doubt.

We travelled to The Heights of Abraham on Monday during our staycation in the Peak District. Car park at the station was easy to find and affordable. Our children loved the uniqueness of the cable car, the caverns and playgrounds on offer here. The pouring rain only added to the atmosphere and did not dampen our enjoyment. Our 3 year old managed the steps up and down into the caverns and the steep walking trails. We eat lunch in the cafe, our boys enjoyed their generous panini and we shared some chilli beef chips. The Punch & Judy show was a welcomed sit down and the children found it amusing. I would recommend a visit to our friends and family.

It’s lovely up here, I’m sure it was just under £100 for a family’s of 5, yes it’s very expensive but for what you get it probably about right. It would be nice if your tickets were valid for another return, also a side note once you’ve been on the cable cart up and down you can’t go again. They say the walk down to the Bolton cave is around 8 minutes, personally I think it’s less and I was with a family of with us.

Perched majestically atop a hill, the Heights of Abraham offers an awe-inspiring vantage point to marvel at the picturesque landscape below. Whether you choose to ascend via a thrilling cable car ride or embark on an invigorating uphill trek, the breathtaking views awaiting you at the summit are an unforgettable reward for your journey. As you soak in the panoramic vistas, every bead of sweat from your climb evaporates, replaced by a deep sense of accomplishment and wonder. The grandeur of the scenery will leave you mesmerized, making the entire experience a testament to the beauty of nature. Enhancing the enchantment of your visit is the Vista Restaurant, which serves up delectable cuisine alongside a generous helping of spectacular views. As you dine in this exquisite eatery, the expansive windows frame the charming town below, creating a dining experience that is both visually and gastronomically satisfying.

We decided to visit around 14:00, parking at the station car park, advertised as the closest car park to the Heights of Abraham - there were limited spaces left when we arrived around 2pm. It’s a short walk to the base of Heights of Abraham and the cable car station, with a steep short hill at the end. We actually booked tickets a few minutes before arriving taking advantage of the online discount offered when booking online, and then there was a short wait of only a minute or two before we were shown onto the next available cable car pod. The journey up-to the summit was quick with wonderful views across the towns and landscape. We found a vacant picnic table to enjoy the packed lunches we had brought, cold drinks are available from the ice cream stall next to the summit station. There was a cavern tour shortly after, which was excellent, and then we spent the remaining 40 minutes of our day admiring the views, reading information boards. A fun and enjoyable afternoon!

We went on a weekend as a family. Apparently ticket price is fixed , there is no discount for student or senior citizen. You can buy annual pass too. Ticket price is expensive but it gives you a cable car ride to the top, guided tours, woodland trails and cafe. There are a lot of things to do over the top. You can easily spend a good few hours exploring and just looking at nature. Cafe is okay but quite expensive. So I would suggest it's better to have lunch in Matlock itself. Overall it's worth visiting plus it's dog friendly.

We had a lovely time. Very well mapped out park with a fantastic cable cart service. The tour of the mining caves was presented as well and leads you to an incredible view over Derbyshire.

Whilst staying in the area this was one of the top recommendations. As a family of 4 off we went. It was a fab adventure, not being a fan of heights I pretended I enjoyed the cable car in front of the kids 😂 Every single member of staff was polite, friendly and helpful (and honestly you can say that about most places) they seemed like they all genuinely enjoyed working there. Also the entire place was spot less which was so refreshing to see. Lots of play areas for the kids, a cool tower to walk up to get a selfie at the top and fun cave tours. We only managed to do the to cave, our kids are 3&6 and I think one was enough. The cave tour was cool, the guide was really helpful and kept it interesting and it was really cool to walk through. The kids loved it. The wife isn’t great with small spaces but she was fine so don’t panic it is not as small as you think when you go through. Food was good in the restaurant, the view is fantastic. When the sun is out the outside space lane would be brilliant to sit out on.

We spent a good few hours here when visiting the local area. The heights are dog friendly, they even gave him some treats once we arrived at the top - he was very pleased! The staff are really knowledgeable giving a great overview of the site and it's history. There is a Cave tour too, this part isn't dog friendly but there is a lovely walk that meets up with the end of the tour so I did this whilst my husband did the tour. The views from the top were absolutely beautiful! 🌲🌳🌿

Had a great time here. Arrived early for first cable car up. Was quiet to begin with but the place soon got bussier. The two cave tours were great. The guides Ian and Steve were fantastic as were all the other staff members. Food at the cafe was amazing as was the service. Would come back.

Great day out, what stunning views when you reach the top of the hill. The cable car was very secure which was great as I'm petrified of heights so really helped with my anxiety. The cable car does stop halfway up which can be a little unnerving but this is stop to the cars bumping into each other in wind. The restaurant at top is great and serves refreshments and light meals.the caves are very informative and included in the price. We visited at beginning of September and it was £24 each.

Great half day out. Cable car ride and entry to 2 caverns included in the price. Plenty of picnic areas if you choose to bring your own lunch, but there is a restaurant and cafe onsite, along with gift shop and ice cream vendor. Quite hilly walkways so west comfortable footwear. Best part are the vistas from the vantage point, the best vista is from the top of the tower. Well worth a visit!
