Lovely little railway hidden away down a small lane. Free parking on site. Helpful staff on the train and in the little shop. Quite a few bits of play equipment to keep the kids entertained before and after your train ride which is good value and fun. Could be improved by creating something to do at the other end of the ride, at present all the things to do are at the 'home' station. A minor quibble though, it's a good couple of hours out and I'd recommend it if in the area.

I had a great time experiencing how to drive a steam engine, all thanks to Bob's tuition and patience. There's a beautiful scenic view to be had as a passenger, but not so much time to concentrate on when you're in control of the train! There's also very thoughtful merchandise that can be purchased from the shop, as well as food and drinks to consume, which were very nice. I'd love to have another chance, and hopefully I will.

Nice little place to bring young kids, only thing that costs money is to ride the train and its not much. Has a play area for under 5s and a bigger area for the older kids, plenty of benches for picnics

Would be a wonderful place to bring the kids if you have any! We only have dogs so we brought those and they absolutely loved it! They have never been on a train before and they love new adventures so this was perfect. For ยฃ3 per person and the dogs going free, there is nothing you can grumble at. The staff and train drivers all made a fuss of them. We had a wander around afterwards and there looked to be a lot for children to do that was all free. Definitely worth checking it out!

Slightly disappointed if I'm honest ๐Ÿ™ƒ only 1 run there and back , I can see why they are fundraising to extend the experience and I appreciate running costs. The children really enjoyed the hidden train near the platform that you can operate with a button while waiting for the steam train. The picnic area has so much more to offer at the end of the run if they were able to put something there to look at. The play area is brilliant for young children and for the under 5s, Toilet s were spotless.

Would highly recommend a trip here with the family for a cheap day out. Free parking, free play area, and delightful miniature railway you can ride on. Look out for all the decoration along the track. We stopped at the other end of the track for a picnic as it was peaceful and surrounded by the lovely countryside and a few cows. Lovely little shop selling train tickets, train toys/gifts and refreshments. Staff were so friendly and especially good with my 3 year old. Toilets were immaculate and had fold down changing table. There are also plans to extend the length of the train track. We will definitely visit again.

We had not idea that this was here. We visited on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised that it was free to enter. Itโ€™s a little place in a countryside setting with play equipment and park equipment. There was a bouncy castle for kiddies to play on thatโ€™s also free! We couldnโ€™t believe it. Thereโ€™s not enough to do for a full day but was perfect for a couple of hours. There is a little wooden hut that sells ice creams, sandwiches and hot drinks. All reasonably priced. The little steam train was perfect for little ones. It was roughly ยฃ3 for adults and ยฃ2.50 for children. You only travel about a mile so isnโ€™t a very long ride but they have secured funding to extend the track which will be good. There are gnomes and garden ornaments dotted by the track so plenty of things to look at on the train ride as well as the countryside. Fab little place and definitely will be returning.

Nice little private narrow gauge steam railway on a farm. Open to the public for about a mile trip. Small tea room with ice creams, hot drinks and souvenirs. Play park for small children. Toilets and small car park. Freindly train driver told me they are expanding the track as cash and volunteers allow.

LOVELY little railway. We are 2 adults, (no kids), and we still enjoyed it! Very good price ยฃ3 each, and loads to do that is free....what a fab place to bring children. We came at about 11am on a Monday, and were straight in for the first train. Nice little tea room, plenty of outdoor seating (some undercover). The train carriages are open sided so feel safe and airy. An absolute gem! So glad we visited.....thank you guys for a nice couple of hours, and we loved going past the rare-breed cattle in the pretty valley.

Nice little place for little kids from babies to around 10 year olds, nice little parks for them to play on and a free bouncey castle. But main attraction is definitely the little steam train tickets are 3 pound for kids and 3.50 for adults and it's brilliant takes about 15 mins for journey go through a tunnel which kids loved. An half round it stops and kids get to me driver and pull on horn. There's not much parking but it is free an there's loads off picnic tables to sit and have some food

It was my first time doing the railway experience. Learning how to drive the train. And I would undoubtedly recommend anyone to do this who likes trains, especially steam trains my driving Instructor was exceptional telling me how it all works and when I was behind the wheel giving me clear instructions on when to speed up and most importantly when to slow down. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. ๐Ÿ‘ thank you, sherwood Forest railway.

What an adorable little railway this is! It's only a short railway at the moment, but don't let that put you off visiting - there's a lovely atmosphere and it's extremely enjoyable! You aren't going to be able to get a full lunch, but you can bring a picnic and get teas and ice creams at the kiosk. There's a lovely playground if you have kids, but if you are an adult it's still worth an hour of your time! They're planning to extend too so keep your eyes peeled. Very nice little shop too with better souvenirs than some of the big railways!

Amazing little railway. Lovely staff. The kids loved the play area and the train ride was lots of fun, the kids especially loved looking at the engine and having a toot on the whistle! Great value for money, highly recommended ๐Ÿ‘ we will be back again!

Lovely little place. The train rides were so much fun and really reasonable in cost. There's lots of railway merchandise in the shop, all at really good prices too. There is a kids adventure playground and one for Under 5s too. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Loved the experience of the slow train going between the green fields.. it is a shirt ride which is cute.. the instructor was friendly and made the kids pull the train whistle .. the price was low and there was a big play area with so many varieties for free, like bikes, zipline, big slides.. later on, we played with control-boats for a ยฃ1 and watched the fish in the pool and birds on the tree .. finally we ate some ice-cream from the shop! My children enjoyed it alot and staff were very friendly .. a great 2 hour trip if u ask me

Absolute gem! Everyone I spoke to was brilliant kind and courteous. Extremely well priced with a park which caters for all ages. The train itself is very well looked after and clean. Brilliant experience for any child or steam fanatic. They have major plans to extend and add in another station which will make the experience even better. Toilets and gift shop/ cafe are both very nicely done, very clean and well looked after. Will definitely be back!

This a great little miniature railway perfect for a short visit (there is enough here for probably an hour at maximum) There is a suitable sized free carpark, entrance to the site is also free. Tickets for the train journey is reasonably priced. There is a small play area for children and a picnic area. Staff are friendly and helpful. The gift shop and snack bar are priced okay for what you can get which is a small variety of hot and cold drinks, I've creams and basic snacks such as crisps and sandwiches. The train ride is lovely, it's only short but it's nice for kids. The driver is happy to take questions and let kids have a closer look at the train.

A beautiful little railway, worthy of its own book in The Railway Series. I had a fantastic time on a driver experience, running the hard working little engine up and down the line. The staff were all amazing and really took the experience to the next level. Canโ€™t wait to go back! Many thanks for an amazing time!

Absolutely brilliant stop off on the way home from Sherwood Pines. Free parking and general admission. Zip wire, bouncy castle, remote control boats, park and under 5s area. The train is so good m, super friendly staff and the attention to detail is so cute. We really enjoyed ourselves, thank you.

Delightful for under 7s. A nice play area and cafe. A worthwhile stop on a trip to nearby Edwinstowe or Sherwood Pines. Take a picnic on a sunny day for a longer stay. 4* as you would only spend an hour or so here.

It was great to finally do my steam train driving experience after a 2 year wait. Lucky for me the weather was not good so a lot less people so had more time to enjoy the day under the instruction of Bob. Absolute great experience.

My 4 year old grandson had a great time here. Riding the train, working the garden train, playing on the park and steering the boats.

Dad and 2 year old son day out. First visit here and we both really enjoyed it. Train ride last a around 20 minutes and their are lots of things for the little ones to see on the way around. The driver lets the little ones pull the train whistle as well which Nathan loved. They have a little shop which sells coffee, snacks etc and their are plenty of things for the kids to play on including a free bouncy castle!!!

Superb location for kids and families. Only 3 miles away but a superb place to chill in beautiful countryside. They are extending the lines which is a big plus

Loved it. Lovely little train and friendly driver. Wish I had taken a picnic and sat in the field to watch it go up and down. Cheap great day out.

Lovely train, play area, staff and shop, but I have to admit to being really disappointed by the length of the track as it was a very short ride along and back again. Was expecting a longer route after travelling a way to go. Our little boy loved it though, so defo worth a visit if you are local or in the area.

Had the best time at the railway with my nephew and family, the train ride was great fun , the driver even checked our tickets before we headed off! We stopped half way and my nephew got to pull the chain for the whistle. He ( and we ) had the a great time. Cute little shop and play ground with lots of cars and bikes to play on. If we were local we would be here all the time!
