A young woman at our hotel suggested this site on our way to the Cliffs of Moher and while it is out in the middle of the Burren it was well worth the drive. Not knowing much about what we were about to see it was great to be able to read about it on the signage that was provided at different spots along the way to the site.

Very fascinating landmark older than the pyramids. Interesting also the info panels along the path from the car park to the dolmen.

Ancient history! 5,000+ years old, and older than Stonehenge. We did the sheepdog demo a few minutes away, had lunch there, and then came here before heading to the Cliffs of Moher for a late afternoon hike. Perfect day.

Very interesting stone age burial site. Easy access from the parking area, just a short walk. The surrounding area is astonishing as well, the sheer amount of stone in the surrounding hills is mind boggling.

Wonderful neolithic example of a dolmen tomb.... Amazing barren landscape that on closer inspection is teeming with wildlife, insects and beautiful views... Please respect the Burren code when visiting πŸ₯°

Worth a place of visit after a long drive. Plenty of parking space available since our visit were not on weekend. What a fascinating and amazing look at those stack of ancient stone. The place is open to public without any entrance barrier and fee. It also provided with informative sign and board to explain the geography nature behind those stone. Local county have done a good job in preserving the area and its surrounding for more generation to view.

5800 year old megalithic tomb set in the most wonderful location with the rocky landscape all around. Free to visit but very well maintained and tourist friendly with lots of parking and signage to educate visitors on the history of the site.

What a wonder to find this ancient site in such a well preserved, protected, and interpreted state. I was fortunate to have the site to myself, except for the cows that are grazed in winter. The signs offer detailed explanations of the site and its history, including flora and local ecology.

Feels like it’s not much to visit, but thinking about how old this place is will definitely change that. Loved the very detailed educational boards that give perspective to the age and times when this was built. Definitely worth visiting while in the Burren.

A mysterious place, the surroundings are beautiful. You get to enjoy some very nice views from the burren on your way to the site. The site is very crowded though, this takes away some of the magic of the location

"pit of misery" - a portal tomb or dolmen was built for ritual as a collective burial site. Today remains is only the "stone skeleton" of the original monument; originally it would have been covered with soil. It is in the middle of β€œnowhere”. Entrance to the site is free and comes with informational boards that border the tomb.

A simple yet powerful site worth a stop if you’re travelling around the Burren. The entrance is free and there’s a spacious parking next to it. A few stands here and there tell you more about the history of the site, the local flora and fauna.

Interesting historical site. Includes good information about the geological formation in the area. Excavated in mid-80’s. No charge to see.

Poulnabrone Dolmen is one of the most photographed dolmens in Ireland and the oldest dated megalithic monument in the country. Dates to the Neolithic period, with estimates to between 4200 BC and 2900 BC. Built by Neolithic farmers, who chose the location either for ritual, as a territorial marker, or as a collective burial site.

Such an interesting piece of history! Not very crowded but we did go on a weekday and the weather wasn’t great so that may have had something to do with it.

So much history. Went on a beautiful, rainy day. Highly recommend stopping by to see this iconic part of Irish history.

Easy to find and accessible with a well laid out car park and footpaths, which is very good considering how remote the dolmen is. Excellent information boards.

Worth a visit for the history, however it is the only thing in the area. Easy drive, sufficient signage and well maintained grounds. Spent about a half hour there

Interesting place. 3 tablets explain what this area is. Adequate parking. Nice drive on narrow street to get there, watch out for tractors.

Good place to stop off and stretch the legs. Has wheelchair access via a gravel track and offers plenty of scenic views. OPW staff are on site who are very helpful and offer some very good site information. Should take no more than half an hour to get in and out providing there's parking available.

This Dolmen predates the pyramids! It is quite remote but there is excellent parking. The views in the area are really quite something.

I recommend going there at sunrise to avoid having to put up with the Marshall and coaches full of tourists. Look out for wild thyme!

This place is magical. It is unique in Europe and you can see why. If your lucky you may find a rare flower but remember this is protected so take nothing but memories and leave only footprints
