I want this to be 5 stars, but their showers were broken and they only had cold water, and half of their spots are backward. It’s really windy at the campground 90% of the time but this area is well known for its high winds so it’s on you if you don’t like it. Spots have water and electric but beware that every other spot is backward with your Ramada and picnic table behind your camper as opposed to the traditional campsite/passenger side. Ranger program was great and Eric the Ranger was a rockstar teaching our kiddo and taking us on a rad trip town the beach helping us collect and find interesting gulf treasures (sea-beans!) Driving and parking/camping on the beach is AMAZING.

Beautiful park with gorgeous beaches! Too bad there is a lot of trash in the area where people camp. I picked up 2 bags full of it on my short 2 hour walk. Wish we could respect our beaches a little more…

Entrance fee was five dollars per person. Very reasonable to us. Man A War jellyfish were washed up but nothing extreme. We came at a not crowded time and that was nice. Didn't explore the dunes, we will definitely do that next time. Porta potty restroom was available.

Great white sand beach. It was clean and the waves were nice enough to boogie board but not too strong. Great for families and I like that you can park your car on the beach. There are no lifeguards and they only have one bathroom near the entrance but do have port-a-potties along the beach.

Had a fantastic time at the beach, the kids enjoyed building sand castles. The weather was nice, the water was warm and the kids found hundreds of crabs. The vibe was dope! Being able to park on the beach and set up your tent was super convenient. Get there early as it tends to get pretty full around 1100 especially on a Saturday.

Very nice park with a Sandy beach and easy access. We used our state park pass to pay and reserve a time. You can park in the parking area or even on the beach (make sure your vehicle is capable of getting through some Sandy areas). It was off season so there was a few picnic table areas open. This area will be busy during the summer so go early for a good spot!

Nice safe beach access. No vehicles are allowed on the beach, is a plus. Clean large restrooms and showers. Porta potties are located in the beach parking lot. Huge sand dunes. You can walk and roam safely for long distances in this park. A few picnic tables are available on the beach, for early risers. It’s a bargain if you want walk the beach safely, recommend

LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I want to come here every week. It's so soothing & relaxing out here! Everybody got along even the Dogs, birds, fish and crabs were enjoying themselves. Such a Lovely place. And it only cost $5.00 per person to get in!!! I'm coming back real soon! The bathrooms were clean and well ventilated. They even have an area where you can park your car on the beach and relax that way.

This is one of our usuals for camping. We were there for spring break and the RV sites were full at least part of the nights we were there. The beach was pretty sparsely populated though, especially by the jetties. If you are camping there are two ways to do it here. They have primitive camping on the beach and electric/water sites (no sewer) in a large parking lot type area. The electric sites also have a picnic table (some are in pretty rough shape). And half of the sites are set up such that your door isn't on the picnic table side. The bathrooms have been rebuilt since the hurricane. They are nicer but there used to be two bathrooms - one by the beach and one by the campsites. One of the showers wasn't working during spring break. But they never ran out of hot water even though it was very busy. You can drive out on the beach to the jetties if you take a left at the beach parking lot. Be sure you have 4wd. It was very clean in March. We're usually there in July-Aug and at that time of year, there's usually seaweed and jellyfish.

Wonderful state park. I love what they did with the rebuild. So happy to visit and continue our family tradition at Mustang Island. We did boogie board and saw no jellyfish. However, we did see a few sea turtles swimming around us. Restrooms are awesome. Thank you. We will be back soon.

The cool thing is you can camp on the beach and if I lived in Texas I would give it 5 stars. But I live in SO. Cal and go to Huntington Beach so to me there is a problem, no waves. No one here does water sports. No paddle boards, no jet skis and almost no one in the water. I finally asked someone if there was something wrong with it and he said it was to cold. It was 65, that's warm by OC standard. What kids do here is drive up and down the beach on golf carts all day and most of the night and that's there beach day. It's so different from a beach day in SO. Cal. Come here anyway it's clean and beautiful

This park is great! You can drive your car up on the beach and set up a tent. Camping on the beach is allowed. They have both port a potties and bathrooms. This is so convenient! It makes the beach so much more fun! No hauling things to and from the car!!

Super cheap and convenient place to get access to the beach. The beach has two access roads for vehicles they recommend 4x4. There was a bit of trash but nothing outrageous. It was windy the whole time we were there. It was a nice stay overall and we'd return in the future. RV spots have their own table and pergolas. Depending on your campsite it will either be behind or in front of your RV. Area is paved for the RVs. Some spots with full hookups are available as well. Walk to the beach is a little tough as the walkways ate covered with sand.

The family loves this secluded peaceful place. A must see and great experience if you love peace and quiet. Not a popular party spot which makes it great for little kids and people who do not like crowded places.

Wasn't sure I wanted to review this one...not because it wasn't an amazing beach but since it was so quiet and not packed full of people! Had the best evening here and felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Get the pass so you can drive your car on the beach and enjoy an evening with your beach chairs in the water. Amazing!

We came here to enjoy a few hours at the beach. The beach was very clean and peaceful. The walk from the parking area to the beach wasn’t too bad either.

We absolutely loved the experience we had here. The only thing were the restrooms/shower house were not kept very clean during our stay, but we had our camper to clean up when needed. They had Portera potties on the beach that could be used and some picnic bench as well. The price wasn't bad either. The beach police were very nice lol not police. We will definitely be returning.

My family of 4 (young kids below 10) visited the beach in the Mustang park in the first week of Nov. The beach wasn't crowded though it was Sunday evening with great weather. Almost felt like a private beach, we had space for our own, could park the car right on the beach next to water. Kids had lots of fun, could get into the water, built some castles. No life guards though. As it is a State Park, State Park ranger was doing the rounds, so it was safe. Also very good beach to walk, no hurting stones, pebbles or trash

Absolutely beautiful beach! My first time going to corpus, and just so happened to choose this spot to go to the beach! And Im oh so happy i did! Nice laid back spot. The security guard was amazing! He was very friendly and informative! Gave good directions because I can get lost I'm a heartbeat without the map on! I drove down the beach for a little while then got on out and enjoyed myself!! Left for lunch and came back for a couple more hours! I truly enjoyed myself and I will definitely be coming back soon!

My favorite part was the mesh walkway over the sand. Parking lot to beach is a pretty short walkway. My least favorite part is the confusing or lack of signage. But I've been told that it's just me. I had seen on a map online that there was drive on beach access and showers....perhaps for campers. When I first came in I wanted to go to the gift shop but ended up at the restrooms due to the confusing sign. Just like at Padre National Seashore they have a colored flag waving for the level of danger the water is. They also have picnic benches. I did enjoy not walking as far car to beach, but I did miss the showers and before the parking lot like at Padre National Seashore. Five dollar entrance which isn't bad at all. Next time I come through I'll wander around and try to find beach driving...it is the reason I got an AWD after all.

Nice camp area located between sand dunes. Nice wide drive between campsites the drive and the campsites are asphalted. There is a place to rinse off the sand off when you come back from the beach. The beach is only a short walk approximately 1/3 MI from the feathers point in the campground. Is the bathrooms and showers with running water. Downside is there's no adjustment to the temperature of the water you take a shower in. It's not as warm as I like but it'll do The park rangers in the gate hosts are all very friendly. This day use and places to park down toward the beach Looks like people can drive golf carts dune buggies on the beach but you might want to check for sure. I like getting out in the water and the waves in this location better than feather down south in Padre. But I do recommend going to Padre Island it's a short drive. I seen just as many seashells here as down on Padre Island. And we didn't witness any turtles coming in to lay eggs at either location but it is that season for it I highly recommend this park you will enjoy it Oh I don't want to leave out it does have outdoor cooking area that each campsite We're here in early June temperature is in the mid-80s it doesn't go off any at night maybe 5° When you're down at the beach it's not hot at all feels great

A little tight spaces and some picnic tables on back side of RV. The state park was nice enough for close beach enjoyment. Lots of beach day users. Boondocking on beach. Not far from USS Lexington ship. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Our family LOVES this beach. It is clean, pet friendly, everyone respects each others spaces, you can fish, and you can use the grill while out there. There is also security and it has porta porties available (2).It is absolutely worth the 2 hr drive for us. BUT... becarful getting stuck on the sand....but if you do, on all of our visits there were always many good samaritans that'll help ya. This is entrance 1.

Fun time where you can drive on the beach, swim, fish, picnic. Warm surf, good waves, windy.

Great beach! It's shallow (about 3-4 ft, depending on the size of the waves) for a long way out (approx 100 yds) so that's fun. I really enjoyed watching the pelicans flying over and diving for fish throughout our time on the beach too! There are also covered picnic tables toward the upper part of the beach. They are a bit rusted and in mediocre overall condition but they're a good place to eat and get out of the sun. There is a nice bathhouse that also has showers. Biggest negative is the cost to get in. Price is based on number of adults and/or children in vehicle, so it gets expensive quickly.

Love this place. It's a state park so no fishing license required and it's not crowded at all. You can find your own little area of beach.... secluded or not. We have our usual spot at the end of the trail leading thru the park. The sand is white and water is blue. Plenty of birds and lots of redfish. Quiet and peaceful and a perfect spot to just relax or kayak or hunt for seashells.

We camped here in our 5th wheel trailer. Sites are water and electric with a dump station at the entrance of the park. There is also primitive camping on the beach. The sites were obviously designed by someone who never camped in a RV. You back in side by side with your neighbor so the trailer on the right side of the spots will have their door open into the left space. It makes for an odd arrangement and in typical Texas fashion they never fixed the problem. See my pic for more info. Otherwise it’s convenient to Port A and Corpus Christi.

We really enjoyed our stay. The beach is just a short walk or drive away from the camp sites. The bathrooms and showers were clean, plenty of hot water. The camp sites are a bit too close to each other, but there is plenty of room to park & to turn around. There are no fire pits; only elevated BBQ grills for charcoal and wood. A public WiFi access point was recently installed near the bathrooms.

Love this place, one of the best beaches to go to, only complaint is that a lot of people leave their trash everywhere even though there are trashbags so we always find ourselves picking up after other people. Views are beautiful and wildlife is abundant.

The RV park is like a parking lot, but we didn't come for the the RV park. THE BEACH is beautiful! The 2 days we were there is was 100* and windy! Coming from West Texas where it's DRY, hot & windy most of the year, this was a nice change. I loved how SAFE I felt letting my kids play on the sand and in the water. Very few people and the waterline of the beach is long, so they were able to play in the water without the fear of being swept out. All 3 Rangers I had contact with were super nice! Of course we used the showers. They are roomy and appreciated! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Would recommend for overnight camping. Specially for the camping beginners like me. I had a great time here viewing the clear sky mid night and sun rise early morning. Washrooms and showers are well maintained. Lot of crabs 🦀 around in the sand. They comes out when no one is around.

Mustang State Park is a great place to go to watch the sunrise. If you want to go during the day, you need to be sure to get there early, because you have to buy tickets that cost five dollars per adult and the park limits the amount of cars and people that can attend the beach during the day. Fortunately, we stopped by early in the morning to grab a ticket, and when we came back later, they had already sold out around 3 PM. The beach sand is a lot whiter and cleaner looking than further down on the shoreline. There’s also a great area for fishing or looking for seashells and hermit crabs in the Rocky pier. We recommend going to the spot and it was the nicest beach that we found in Corpus Christi! this part of the beach allows you to drive your car right on and park near the water. There are no areas to wash off on the beach and Porta potty‘s in the parking lot, but there is wash area and restroom further out past the parking lot.

My daughter and I went yesterday afternoon. The water was warm and calm and the place was (mostly) empty. I was a little disappointed with how much trash was there. We didn't utilize the playground, bathrooms, or showers Overall, we'd come back again. I always support State Parks.

  • 5/5 jason p. 7 months ago on Google
The campsite are nice and clean. The restrooms are clean and have hot showers. They also have shower outside to rinse off the sand. The jetties are great and loaded with fish. I caught my first red fish. No fishing license is required to fish at the state park.

  • 4/5 Bobbie K. 9 months ago on Google
Love Texas State Parks. They keep parks clean. They kept sand compacted so we were able to get a small car on the beach. Less crowded because once they reach capacity, no one is allowed in. We had an issue with tar on the beach but there are oil rigs off the gulf. Definitely would go again, even with one lady messing up our day. 🤷‍♀️
