Such a lovely area to visit, even when the main house is closed it's still worth a visit. Beautiful scenery, calm and perfect for hiking.

Very interesting castle, it's amazing how well preserved it is. Staff is very friendly. The only slight inconvenience is that english guide is available only at 11am on the weekends, but an english guide book is provided, which is great - I would advice to have around 2 hours to explore the castle and read historical references. Bonus point surroundings are very beautiful.

One of the most wonderful places I have visited. The building itself is something the visitor MUST explore (take a guided tour) and the surrounding area is of unspoken beauty

Just because most of the houses in Sweden are made of wood, a house made out of stone does not necessarily need to be special only for that reason. On top of that, we think this is not a castle as advertised but rather a house.

If in the area you must visit this castle. We missed the English tour it was at 11am. However we were given a guide folder to use. The lady on the entrance told us if we could not find a room come back and see her. WOW I thought she was joking......the place is like a Warren. Loads of different levels. Huge narrow steep stone stair cases (medieval). Be a little wary if unsure on your feet or balance. Hold the hand rails. What an absolute fantastic hour or 2 we had. Our 16 year old loved it, younger kids will do as well. The cafe in the grounds as you park is also great and NOT expensive.

An historic house in beautiful surroundings. The house itself was very interesting to explore. We were given a tour by a guide who spoke both Swedish and English, which was very useful. There is a lot of text around the house explaining the history of the family but it's all only in Swedish, so the guide is pretty essential if you don't speak/read Swedish (like me) as you wouldn't really get much out of the visit. We ate at the restaurant and the food was very nice and pretty good price. I visited here with family and we didn't spend that long here but if you wanted to read up on the history and explore the surrounding area a bit you could spend a full day here.

Amazing place. Nice castle from the 1500's that kept a lot of its old look and feel. You can visit the entire castle from the dungeon to the attic. Many stairs so keep that in mind. Staff was friendly and the tour in english was good.

A breathtaking place with guided tours of the magnificent stone fortress. Lovely restaurant with hot n cold meals. If you are lucky the master of the fortress will be the guide. Picture shows one of the magnificent medeival rooms.

Amazing place for history lovers (and I'd say for ghost story lovers as well). An amazingly well-preserved building from the 1470s. Packed full of history - for example king Gustav Vasa visited there in the 1500s, and one of his wives came from Torpa Stenhus. Also several ghost stories. We took a guided tour and the woman was amazing! I think she is only there in the summer though, not sure how it works the rest of the year. Highly recommended indeed!

Very nice castle. You can borrow booklets at the entrance in different languages in which the history and rooms of the castle are explained.

Very nice historical site. Opens in May for tours, but you can still walk around it. Beautiful area.
