I have been going to this restaurant since 2015. It almost never disappointed me. The quantity of the food is always more than you can eat. The prices are so affordable. The taste is great. The market offers great Arabic and halal products. The only comment is that I feel that a new administration took over. Since then I feel like the place is becoming more and more westernized every time I visit it. The sense of home this place used to give is shrinking. The prices started to go up, the place to pray is not available anymore, etc. I truly hope they bring back the old spirit this place used to have.

Coming from a Greek family it’s fair to say our standards are high when it comes to Greek food, and Salems never disappoints. The platter in the photo was a spread they put together for a party, and just the aesthetics alone were amazing. Highly recommend this place for the butcher as well. For our Easter celebrations we get all our goat, lamb, and chicken from here. It’s so nice being able to do all our shopping in one place.

We had a extremely bad experience there. We ordered curry chicken, curry beef and fries, and which were not complicated at all. However, this restaurant let us wait for an HOUR!!! The front desk people said this was because they didn’t have enough staff today but we saw lots of people who ordered later than us had picked up their food much earlier than us!!! How could you explain it? There is only one reason that could explain this situation, which is you are RACIST! Otherwise, why everyone’s order came on time except for ours? Why we were treated differently? One star is too much for you. We absolutely won’t come here again and will let our friends avoid being discriminated by you. By the way, the curry chicken tasted bad, very dry. UPDATE: The owner replied to my review saying that if we were unsatisfied they would issue the refund. It seems like they are very responsive and friendly. However, I sent the email to them but did not receive any response. So as you can see, they are just pretend to be friendly to the customers. It makes me feel disgusting.

This place has the most delicious fresh food . The chicken tiki marsala is the best . As was the lamb and goat They also offer hamburger and fries .The portions are huge ,they're always busy ,but never make you wait long. Food is fresh and they offer so many delicious desserts and drinks .

2 of the best things here are : 1) Tandoori chicken leg - Almost as authentic as what I used to have in Delhi, India. I wish there was some option to make that extra spicy and also get the whole tandoori chicken and not just the leg quarter. Indian restaurants in Pittsburgh and other places in the US should learn from them how to make tandoori chicken. 2) Whole chicken cut : small chicken without skin (~2.8 lbs) - perfect for making homemade chicken curries. Also, they have a nice parking lot

Place is unreal. Best quality Indian/halal food I've had and they give massive portions. You can easily get 3 meals out of one platter. Highly recommend the spicy goat curry and spinach paneer.

this is a really interesting place, they have everything you need, so you could do all your shopping in one place. the food choices are amazing, the butcher has really well prepared meats. the staff are really nice and helpful, you might need to wait a little but its worth the wait, trust me! 5 stars from me!

So we have been hearing a lot of buzz about Salems especially with them moving to our Hill District neighborhood soon. So we finally decided to give it a try. 1st I must say everyone we came in contact with was super polite & helpful excellent customer service! We ordered the Chicken Tikka Massala with the Biryani rice, Gyro, 1 order of Chicken & 1 order of Beef Samosas. My fiancé loved the rice! & he's very picky about his rice, the chicken was just ok. The gyro wasn't really hot, the meat wasn't that good, it tasted like frozen gyro meat & the veggies on it weren't fresh. Now to the Samosas.... I couldn't wait to try these! That's the 1st thing I bit when we got home lol & let me tell you, they were DELICIOUS!!! OMG 😲 They were made to order & still hot when we got home. They were crispy & flaky on the outside & full of flavor on the inside! The chicken was great but the beef was delightful! (I didn't take a pic of the beef Samosa bitten because I had to hurry & take a pic so I could eat more of the chicken one)🤣 I can't wait to go back just to get more of those! Truely amazing place for Asian food lovers specially from the subcontinent (India, Pakistan & Bangladesh). Exclusive Halal food available with authentic spices and taste. It's not only the incredible quality but also the quantity of food which offers value for money. The restaurant offers take away and dinning option. The Market place offers you all authentic Asian Grocery, Sweets and much more. Friendly staff, Specially Mohd. Aziz, what a nice personality. Ample parking around. Overall an awesome experience!

Authentic international and national flavors prepared fresh daily that are beyond delicious! Portion sizes are mamoth and sure to leave to satisfied with some left overs. You can order ahead or come in and sit down and eat. Very clean and friendly. Willing to allow sample before making your selection.

I’ve always loved how I can come into your place of business and see my food set out and being prepared. I’ve always gave you a 5 star but this new set up messed up the experience of coming to Salem’s to get my food. The food is good as usual but I was super disappointed that the experience of seeing your food and greetings from your staff. I’m not a fan of the new set up but service is great and the food is delicious.

I can’t get enough of Salem’s! Veggie curry over rice is excellent and I’m not even a vegetarian. There’s a spicy chili chicken I like to call crack chicken because it’s sooooo addicting and delicious! Staff is super friendly and helpful as well if you aren’t too familiar with the cuisine.

Had the privilege of visiting America February 23. I was posted in Pittsburgh. I was lucky enough to find some great halal spots in the area but Salems grill was one of the better ones that i discovered. Had a UK halal spot vibe to it. I was craving steak, I heard Americans know their steak. It was very good. Only downside was…It was served on a plastic foil plate with plastic utensils. I went to the server and told him i was eating steak. I need proper utensils. He apologised and said they couldn’t give me proper utensils, strange. Good food though.

This market is very good for fish and meat (especially the whole curry cut chicken can nowhere else be found in Pittsburgh). Price is reasonable. Their staffs are very humble and courteous. The restaurant also serves good food with a wholesome quantity (took a goat curry meal). Though this place is not well connected by bus 😔

Absolutely fantastic Mediterranean food. Loved by locals. The gyro and garlic naan are some of the best in town. The bread is so good. The naan portion is big, and good to split with 2 people. Service was good. Food was served quickly considering how busy it was. My only complaint was that my food came out cold. Tables and floors are also kept clean, no crumbs or sticky mystery messes. Atmosphere is nice, the dine in area is recently renovated. Plenty of tables, bar seating around the restaurant, sleek touchscreens and two in-person ordering stations ease congestion.

Had a hankering for a good gyro, and Salem's did not disappoint. Good sized gyro, seasoned very well, great sauce, and plied high with meat.

Outstanding food! If you are looking for a good, clean meal in the Pittsburg area, this is the place! We had mostly vegetarian items and they were great. If i lived in Pittsburg id eat here 2-3x per week!
