The reviews of overpriced food and bad service is 100% true. We went to Benihana in Lombard for my moms birthday. They charge $30 for drinks that taste like juice! Their “Long Island” was weak and tasted like juice. We asked if they can remake it and the bartender refused to remake the drinks. I’ve had stronger Long Islands at Longhorn Steakhouse smh. We brought a cake for my moms birthday so we arrived 15min early and asked them to bring it out at the end of the dinner as a surprise. However, one of the waiters thought it was funny to tell the rest of our party INCLUDING my mom that “the cake is coming” therefore spoiling my moms birthday cake Surprise!! IN ADDITION, They charge gratuity that is not reflected or printed on the receipt so they have the AUDACITY to write it in pen a suggested gratuity and adds it to the bill calling It a “service fee”. But the service was not worth it. All of the waiters and bartenders were rude they were passive aggressively rushing us to leave. For example they were putting on their coats and jackets and sitting at tables across the room watching us eat our food. It was so awkward and uncomfortable. Keep in mind, The establishment doesn’t close until 10pm our reservation was 7:45. We ordered drinks but waited 10-15 min for our drinks to be served. We were all half way done with our drinks before our cook came to serve us. A lot of our time was spent waiting even though there was only 2 other families in the entire restaurant. We were a party of 10 the cook and waiter decided to write themselves a $200 dollar tip for a $500 bill. Not sure what percentage that was or what service the “service fee” was for because it surely could not have been for good service. It couldn’t have been for the tricks either because the cook Adan dropped both eggs on the floor. It could not have been for the yum yum sauce either because it was the nastiest yum yum sauce I have EVER tasted! It tasted like soy sauce and mustard. Super salty, none of our party ate it. Even when my 11 year old sister saw the sauce she said it appeared “dark and liquidy” and refused to eat it. Even after the cook finished cooking and serving us all, my dad gave Adan a cash tip in his hand as he was walking away and when the bill came they STILL decided to include gratuity onto our bill. My family was appalled at the treatment and felt scammed. They ruined my moms birthday surprise. I cannot believe We drove an Hour to be treated so horribly. After voicing the concern to a family they said “Fuji is better”. So maybe we’ll try Fuji instead next time we are in the mood for Hibachi!

From beginning to end… Very rude host stand…not welcoming or friendly @ all but don’t let that ruin your experience… Fun and delightful wait staff and teppanyaki chefs. Good food…go extra hungry because it’s a lot. Everything kind of tastes the same, same seasoning goes on everything, it can be a bit salty at times. Good Sushi options. Good kids menu. Pretty pricey. Our bill included… 2 adults entrees, 1 children’s menu option, 1 sushi roll, no alcohol, $150 out the door. Overall FUN experience.

First time coming to Benihana. I was not impressed. I have been to many hibachi restaurants and they have all been better than this place. The food has no flavor. The restaurant is not very clean. It needs a renovation. The tables and cooking hoods are dirty. The table has food in the creases. They also need yum yum sauce. I was afraid to try the sushi because I wasn't sure if it would be fresh. I will just stick with Kansai steakhouse (Hibachi) in Bourbonnais. Customer service was good but the food needs some work. Don't waste your money.

It was a friends pick to go to Benihana for lunch. I haven’t been here in over 15+ years so I don’t quite know what to expect. Dolly welcomed us and was very accommodating when I asked her for a booth vs group seating. The Lunch menu had plenty of selection to choose from including shrimp, chicken breast, steak, veggies or scallops and vegetable fried rice. We ordered chicken fried rice which is $1 more per entree. Lunch came with soup and sautéed vegetables. The salad was additional and you can’t substitute the soup for the salad. The onion soup was good but they put fried onion straws IN the broth so it’s like you’re eating soggy breaded onions with the broth. The salad still has their signature ginger dressing which they make very well here. Nice, chilled and delicious! Entrees came and were nicely plated but we had to wait a bit for the fried rice. I’m not sure why they didn’t just put the rice on the plate with our food? It would have been a much better presentation. When the rice finally did come, we just dumped it in the middle of our plates. It was pretty good too. The 6 shrimp had a good flavor. Steak teriyaki was a little chewy but the sauce was flavorful. Lunch specials portions were good but I wouldn’t recommend dinner here. Restaurant was clean but needs some updating.

Chef was amazing and entertaining Emilo is a fabulous chef. Food was out of this world. I got the Filet Mignon steak with chicken fried rice. We made reservations a head of time due to valentine's day weekend we were seated right away and it was also our anniversary and i included that with reservations and they came out and sang to us surprised us with ice cream and took a photo of us and framed it. Was a great experience and I highly recommend this place. My dinner was a 5 course and the cost was 36.00 and you received a ton of food, that they kept putting on plate. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Prices are just right. Very clean and staff was very friendly. Our waiter was just the sweetest.

Came out to celebrate a family members birthday on Christmas day and our cook, Alfonso, and server, Amy, 💕💕💕💕were absolutely AMAZING! Excellent customer service! The service was quick and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely return to this location. 💗 They go above and beyond for their customers. Thank you for your hospitality Amy and Alfonso!

Recently here for brunch with friends. We were greeted and seated right away. Before long our chef appeared and started cooking. Not to mention there were a few animated tricks along the way. All enjoyed their meals. Always hit here. Already looking for the next time.

1st time at Benihana and I must say I definitely enjoyed the experience! Seated promptly. Service was beyond exceptional host took time to explain the method made me and my family felt welcome and appreciated!!!! Emilio was a expert at his craft!!!!

Its a nice place yet I expected a better attention to service, food textures flavors, explanations of the dining experience and process. show by the cooking chef was a 5⭐️ Food 4⭐️ Service 2 ⭐️ Will I come back yes yet only to bring someone for the experience. I will try other locations to experience it again.

This place is highly overrated the food portions are very small for the price and the waitress tried to add additional 18% tip to our bill until we asked to have it removed. Paid $230 for 3 adults definitely not worth it I have had a better time and food at a steakhouse like wildfire 😜

April 10, 2022 Another phenomenonal dinner, and Paul was incredible. He pulled out all the stops, constructed a birthday tower like I'd never seen before (actually I never seen it done here), and the food was incredible, delectable, and cooked to perfection. We truly couldn't get enough. We appreciate the efforts from everyone at Benihana's in making this very special day extraordinary and even more memorable! Truly remarkable! April 10, 2021 Went here with my family for our sons birthday, no wait (made reservations), they remembered it was his birthday from when I made the reservation, the food was absolutely amazing as always. From the onion soup, the salad with the delicious dressing (you can purchase their dressing to use at home) the zucchini and onions has so much flavor, the shrimp was cooked to perfection as well as the New York strip steak and they mad my vegetable fried rice separate in the back since I'm allergic to eggs. Never had to ask for a refill because the waiter paid very close attention and made sure everyone never had an empty glass and they are in compliance with the COVID social distancing rules. Great experience and we are were stuffed afterwards. Great job as always Benihana's!!!! ❤❤❤ April 2019: Love this place, you get a lot of food all cooked right in front of you. I have allergies so they cooked my fries rice in the back which was perfect as it was but cooked no where near the eggs. My family loves everything about the food and preparation.

We had a lot of fun celebrating a birthday at Benihana. Food was great, chef respected wishes of two of us to not have mushrooms in our food (not an allergy, just a preference). Staff were lovely and service great. Decor could use a little updating, floors get pretty dirty and look like they could use a good steam cleaning. Overall lots of fun, we will be back!

I was already annoyed I never received my birthday reward for today and now this just annoyed me even more. They have completely lost their minds with the new portion sizes. I haven’t eaten here in about a year and I should’ve kept it that way. I ordered rice for a serving of 4 people for a pickup order and when I get hoke and check the bag it’s one regular size container. I remember eating here several times in the past and rice portion was decent size amount. This is not worth $32.45

We had a reservation at Benihana’s done a week before for a birthday Even after doing a reservation we had to share a table with 2 more ppl We requested the manager but denied us for keeping us exclusive on the table The lady who took our order absolutely confused us with the menu The menu wasn’t clear and neither the waitress We ended up paying 60$ per person and it wasn’t worth it Food was alright … All in all it was an OK experience for us

Such a fun place for dinner! Everyone in my family had been except my five-year-old and I. I had no idea what to expect. My five-year-old got a cute little hat. There was lots of staff to talk you through the experience. We got a giant margarita ($55!) And a five-course meal. All in all it was a touch more expensive than I thought it would be, but it was a fun time

Scammers. Steam rice or fried rice isn’t a choice. Steam rice comes with ur meal fried rice is $6. Up charge. The $52. Filet I had the meat was tuff not even tender. Very chewy. Strange. The lobster was very good. The first shrimp they served did not taste good all the other shrimp and scallops were good and fresh tasting. If I was to return I wouldn’t get the steak I would only do chicken or seafood dishes. Our Bill was 96. $8. Went to tax. 9.75% tax. I would like to see how much government profits is paid per year by this one place. Double taxed. I paid Income tax plus Benni pays income tax and finally sales tax. Gas tax paid for the road to get to this place. And Illinois is broke.

After being seated we had to wait 45 minutes for the first course to arrive then an additional 35 minutes for the chef to come out. Food quality was the same considering this is a chain restaurant. They also completely disregarded the birthday celebration which was marked on their receipt from the note I had made while booking the reservation. Definitely not coming back, hope this helps others decide where not to go for dinner.

Food and drinks are awesome! I'll definitely return again. My husband and I went over the weekend and we had such an amazing dinner! And the punch bowl drinks were delicious! One thing that bothered me was the fact that many people go to just try to cheat the system and get a free meal or a major discount on the food and it's such a shame because this restaurant deserves better. During our dinner experience, another woman that we shared the table with shared with me that I could get a big discount on the food and all I had to do was say that I didn't like the food. I didn't believe for it to be true and I seen it happen! She told the waitress she disliked the sushi and her food wasn't cooked to perfection and that's all it took for the waitress to not charge her for anything she had ordered! I was appalled. And she recommended I go late after 9. She admitted she does it all the time and works. What a shame.

This place was 🔥Fire! Benihana was So Lit!!! We had so much fun. Our Chef was Great! He did an awesome job making delicious food, and skilled in putting up a show while making food. It's good to bring your kids here. They will be amaze for sure! The kids in our family was awed as well as us adults while watching him. The drinks we tried was delicious as well. The Purple Party Colada is my favorite. It has an Ube - (a yam that is native to the Philippines). So yummy! The Chef and the staff that was assigned to us was all very genuinely nice people, friendly, warm, and fast with their service! They have a printed photo too that they gave that to us a a gift. You can download your photo also from their website. I Highly Recommend this place. We had so much fun here.

Special dinner for 6. Lots and lots of choices all cooked on a table in front of you. Chef prepares food in an entertaining way. Onion volcano. Fire ball with oil on the cooktop and beating heart of rice. Shrimp tails caught in hat. Our chef was ok. Expect a bill of 60+ per person. Closer to 80 if drinks are involved. Most rave about size of meals. Ours were medium to small. Portions are premade before coming to table. My side of scallops consisted of 4 bites. Overall place does need a true deep cleaning. Sticky floors, rice all over the floors.

I love this place! I always come for special occasions or just an evening out. I have not been here since COVID and now I feel it wasn't the same. I took my daughter there for here birthday on a Tuesday and she had fun but was also disappointed this time. Our cook basically just cooked the food and no show. No choo choo train, beating heart, slicing the egg in half with the spatula, no shrimp tail flipping. Just not the same feeling. My food was overcooked and super salty and so was others from my party. This time after spending close to $400 it wasn't worth. Sorry benihana

This was the best hibachi I’ve had! Amazing performance. Everything from the vegetables and the chicken and egg fried rice was amazing! And their grilled shrimp is the best I’ve eaten! And the atmosphere is great: nice wooden tables, great decorations, and very nice staff. Would come again!

Disappointed. But that isn't normal here so I'll give 4 stars. Hibachi is always fun, that wasn't the full issue. The cleanliness of Benihana was aweful. It looked like a truck stop bathroom & I had to ask them to replenish the toilet tissue. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table and it was delightful. Have to they BH has a great drink menu, from huge to normal size offerings. For dinner they stuck us in the back area, extremely cold. I had to go question them as the buzzer hadnt gone off and it was past our reservation time. Floors needed vacuuming. My tuna was over-cooked, very disappointing as I was really looking forward to it. And seemed our chef was either new or didn't care much anymore. BH, please do better so I can love you again. I will say... my husband loved it. He's just a fan of BH and overcooked meat.
