A memorable day out with the family. The wet morning kept the crowds down, which was nice. As others have said, taking a packed lunch is the way to go and there are so many places to have a picnic. A special mention on the parents rooms, they were outstanding from setup, amenities and child security. 🐘🦓🦒

Adequate sized parking, there is a lot of space and you're not far from the entrance. Signage from the opposite side of the entrance could be a little better though.

Great public zoo. Interesting enclosures and very nice parkland to spend the day. At least 2 or 3 hours to get around. The butterfly house is great and the aquarium is very well setup. Consider an annual pass as this allows entry to Werribee and Healesville Zoos as well as other zoo interstate. Look out for special exhibitions as there was a very good photography exhibit on.

Melbourne Zoo is an awesome place to take your kids or just yourself if you don't have kids. The best option is becoming a member because you can't see the lot properly in one visit

Really enjoy the zoo, but it’s disappointing when you get to the main animals and there not there or hiding. I understad the animals need space but if you’re going to pay the money to see the animals you expect more. I always find the zoo is exciting but becomes under-wellming sometimes. Also kids in prams are constantly removed and shown animals. Mayne a pram viewing area could be established?

hand down, melbourne zoo is one of the most beautiful zoos i have ever seen. my partner and i came for a trip down from adelaide and we had such an amazing time. we booked in for the seal experience and the team went above and beyond to make this experience unforgettable, especially ariel. thanks for making our trip such a great one and we miss bella already! :)

Might be a little bit harsh, we ended up going around 1pm during school holidays. The zoo itself has nice shady walk areas and clear sections for different animals. Found the exhibits a little bit cramped and animals were hard to see from vantage points. Did not manage to see any lions, tigers, gorrilas or the snow leopard which was a let down.

  • 4/5 Ean 3 months ago on Google • 68 reviews New
Clean and well kept zoo and the animals look health and happy. The only issue I have is there are too little animals in comparison to people. Most exhibits only have 2 animals per cage, sometimes you can’t see them cause they’re resting. But at least the animals are not stressed. The ticket price is also quite expensive. There are lots of families having picnics in the area too. Overall, nice place to visit, but there are better places to get the animal viewing experience if that’s what you want.

Plenty to do at Melbourne Zoo. We tried to get to every exhibit and it took us about 4 hours all up. Exhibits are great! Enjoyed the Meerkats, Giraffes and Gorilla Rainforest the best! Elephants were great as well but they are moving to Werribee soon into a much larger facility.

Standard zoo with the standard selection of animals. Not impressive in its beauty but still pretty pleasant. Bird show is quite nice, similar to bird shows in other zoos. I've been to better zoos but this is still a decent one by any measure, just not outstanding or a must-do experience. I'd say it's on par with the Melbourne Zoo, to which I have similar sentiments.

(Translated by Google) The day is rainy, many animals could not be seen. Basically everything is behind glass. Lemurs are in the public domain. Oragutans liked it, but they are not always near the glass. Not clear impressions .... all the animals were far away. One koala with a child. I came for the sake of a kangaroo, but I didn’t see a single one. (Original) День дождливый, много животных не удалось увидеть. В основном все за стеклом. Лемуры в открытом доступе. (Translated by Google) Good family walk and friendly place in terms of the place, for the visit it took a while for us to open the enclosures of the lions, ditto leopard the poor alone, I saw a single tiger running in circles in his enclosure (does he have good mental health?) On the whole, I find it not terrible.

Yesterday's visit was a personal one to see some beautiful people. The zoo was packed, the que to get thru the entry gate and to purchase entry for families was huge. The weather was absolutely fabulous, brilliant weather, this visit..The coffee shop after entry was wonderful, the coffeehouse was superb, there was brilliant food there..Great prices..Wonderful staff serving..The zoo shop has wonderful treasures to purchase, I purchased some swazi glass animals which helps people in Africa..Reasonable prices. The sounds of people talking re animals, chrildren laughing at the zoo ,means it's a brilliant experience for all. If near Melbourne or passing thru go visit the zoo. My personal favorite is the Seals....

A marked improvement. Melbourne Zoo has renovated and improved the experience by creating displays that allow us to see the animals more often, all while giving them a natural space that doesn’t make them feel enclosed. Wonderful place especially with the family.

Waited for about 55 mins on the phone 3 times today with constant nag-ware suggesting fabulous information on the website. The website lets you book and tells you the opening hours. Other than that it is the most useless website I've seen from such a large corporate group dealing directly with the public. I would give less stars if possible. There's plenty of other attractions to visit.

Great zoo, a petting area would be great for the kids . Also there definitely needs to be more food options, and better options. It's currently very limited, only caters to certain tastes and not amazing food. However, the reason for going to the zoo, the animals and enclosures, are awesome.

I'm 67. 60 years ago the Melbourne zoo was a fabulous zoo to see exotic animals and experience the wildlife. Then zoos became terrible places instead they reformed and made the day exhibitions so large that the only way to know what is in their is to look at the picture and read the signs. Now your lucky if you see anything except butterfly and elephant with a few monkeys thrown in and a plethora of educational material lining the tracks for education of children and denigrating the existence of people. I'm not the only one who will never be back. I heard a man with children in tow pushing a pram complaining loudly that just pushing a pram and walking the children was not why they came to the zoo. THEY CAME TO SEE ANIMALS

  • 4/5 Britta W. 1 year ago on Google
Had an awesome day loved looking around the zoo, we could have spent another hour or so at the zoo, was great to see such a huge improvement, great areas for resting, maybe add more seating in the animal enclosures, we found not enough loud speakers around the park, had to listen extra carefully in what was put over the PA system. When we were walking around we hadn't seen the gorrillas as they were either hiding or just not there, had about 3 areas that we couldn't see the animals in the enclosures. On the overall it was a great day and really enjoyed ourselves walking around the park.
