Today was the last straw. We have been taking our pets to Wheaton Animal Hospital for over 20 years and while annoyed with the desk staff at times, we were happy with the medical treatment by the vets and techs. I received a reminder yesterday that our dog was coming in for grooming. I asked that he just receive a bath as he did not need a trim yet. I was late in dropping him and explained that I understood if they needed to reschedule. No problem, they said the groomer could still take him. When they told me that it would be $60 I asked why it was so much. They were adding a $30 cancellation fee for the service. I objected as I had told office staff the day before that a trim was not needed. I took my dog home after paying a $30 cancellation fee. I am furious and have found a new vet. The attitude of the front desk leaves a lot to be desired.

I had been going there for over 10 years and would drive in from the city for their care. However, their staff is forever changing and the customer service and care has gone way down. Not to mention, they also misdiagnosed TWO of my dogs on things that should have been easily caught…like blindness and deafness. I won’t ever go back or recommend them again. In response to the owners reply: you spayed my dog 10 months ago. Quite alarming that you have no record of that.

WAH is caring, efficient, and professional. We have been going here for 22 years and been taken care of through the joy of new puppies and the heartbreak of putting a beloved old dog down. From the desk staff, to the doctors to the techs and groomers, everyone is kind and shows true love for animals. Some folks have complained about the charges, but show me a vet that isn't expensive. It's high quality medical care, it's going to cost. You TOTALLY get your money's worth here.

They are money hungry, and do not care about pets. Will never go back again. Went to get a second opinion after going to another vet that is not full service, but does a great job with my pet and is very inexpensive. They are Pet IQ. Then went to wheaton, and told me they could not do anything, and then did not give me any information where I could go next. Just looked in my dogs ear and said we can't help. Charged me $63 just to look in my dogs ear. I do have to say one of the ladies that checked me in was nice. While the other lady that had colored hair was rude, and as one of the reviews I read here, I agree she was very cop like.

I am so surprised at the high rating of this place. While the vets are super helpful and friendly, the front desk is not very knowledgeable and the wait time is horrendous. It’s been well over an hour wait every. Single. Time. We’ve gone there. Appointment or not we still wait. Crazy.

I never actually been here but I tried to set up an appointment on 11/14/22. I had a few questions as I am a first time pet owner. The secretary on the phone said I was asking too many questions and that she was too busy to answer them all. I apologized and asked if I could call back and then the phone just hung up. Maybe she was having a bad day? Smuckers (my new kitten) and I are happy with the vet we chose which ended up being closer anyways.

Merriam-Webster Definition of negligence: 1a : the quality or state of being negligent. b : failure to exercise the care that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in like circumstances I am writing this review so patients can make a more educated decision when selecting a vet and that the Wheaton Hospital will take a strong look in the mirror and start changing how they function as a Vet and a business. We started going to Wheaton Animal Hospital in May with our new rescue puppy, as the organization offered a free visit at this participating Hospital. Due to several poor experiences, that impacted the health of our puppy, we have chosen to take our puppy to a new Vet. As a first time pet owner, I was uncertain whether all Vets were like this, then upon surveying friends and family, this is not normal Some of the issues we experienced are below: *Asked repeatedly on multiple visits whether our dog was Spayed, which they continued not to put in their system *improper administration of shots, forgetting what shots were given *no follow-up calls when puppy was put on medication for diarrhea *when puppy continued to experience vomiting and diarrhea, the hospital did not send out fecal sample to more extensive lab, and instead repeated asked to put back on chicken and rice diet *Vet never asked what brand and type of food we were feeding our puppy or discussed issues certain breeds have with brands of food -Thanks to the new vet submitting fecal samples to an outside lab, this issue turned out to be whipworm *For the 3-in-one Simparica dosage for dogs 22.1-44.0 lbs we were told if she gets heavier than 44lbs to just take 2 dosages, which is not accurate *Improperly trained front desk (which I put solely on the management and vets for not helping)

My cat had a UTI when he was young and WAH put him on prescription cat food. He’s been perfectly healthy ever since and has been on the prescription diet for probably 5 years now. They are now denying to refill his prescription unless I bring him in for an exam. Being a health care professional, this is absolutely ridiculous! I’m paying $80 a bag for prescription cat food and now they are withholding his medicated diet unless I give them money as well, while putting my cat through the unneeded stress and anxiety of going to the vet. The old bait and switch!

I take my dog here because my mom takes her dog here. There always available for walk in appointments. Staff at the desk at the the computers need to be more attentive to customers and not rely on vet technicians to do everything,I mean what are they really supposed to be doing???. Also i had to receive a print out of my dogs upcoming shots because the 3rd party company that handles text alerts isn't doing There job and I told the vet staff this and they said the manager of the vet office would email us about the issue but I haven't heard anything back yet.

Friendly staff, clean and nice place, parking available. The doctor was very sweet and took her time to explain the condition of our dog and prognosis. In the past, I went to another animal hospital that usually was great but was currently giving bad service, which is why I switched to Wheaton Animal Hospital instead. During generations our pets have been member of our family, If you think your dog or cat is a family member this is the place for you. I highly recommend this animal hospital. ❤️

Parking is a bit tricky. You cannot go around the building so if you pull around back you have to turn around. I wasn’t impressed when we went in the first time. This clinic was one of the options for the free initial veterinary exam, which I was asked to pay for even though the front desk took plenty of time going over that and the adoption folders at check in. The only reason we went back was because they are walk in based and I couldn’t get an appointment for a couple of weeks anywhere else I called. We came across different staff and the veterinarian we saw was awesome. Price is comparable to nearby clinics.

I have been going to Wheaton Animal Hospital for over 15 yrs and have always gotten the best care ever. All the doctors are wonderful especially Dr. Cole and Dr. Biesner. They kept my dog going for 2 years longer than the average dog with diabetes. My pit bull actually loves going there because everyone treats her so great. She is never scared and she has had 4 surgeries there. 2 very complicated ones and she came out of them like a champ. 11 yrs old and going strong because of them.

Receptionist “MEL” had an attitude the entire time I was trying to get information / schedule an ECG .. for something so important and that is not offered just anywhere - she seemed to not want to help . Told me it was not able to be done at this clinic before Letting out a high sigh and then deciding to put me on hold to ask the doctor for a follow up. I did not think trying to get info for a very important procedure would be such an issue just because I had a few inquiries about it . Will never step foot here or bring my dog here . After this I will definitely be picking a different clinics.

They refused to treat our dog because I had not had the opportunity to give all of the calmative medication they required. She developed an UTI overnight and I could only give her the morning medication. They did not care that she was ill. They did not try to see if she was calm enough to treat, or if the muzzle and partial medication would render her calm enough to treat. They simply sent her away. This dog has been their patient since she was a pup, as were her predecessors - covering over 20 years as a client. Apparently loyalty and longevity are not worthy considerations - even if the pet has a potentially serious condition. The good news is that there are other vets around.

We've used them twice for our pup Phoebe, who can be a handful. We just love the vibe; the front desk folks, the handlers and the vets. As you can see Phoebe is resting comfortably from her surgery.

Had a bit of a wait, but all the staff was so kind and respectful! The vet that looked over my cat was wonderful and answered every question we had, and she she was very funny.

Would not recommend this animal hospital to anyone. I only used this hospital for my dogs initial check up after I adopted her because it was what the rescue recommended. I brought my extremely nervous dog in for an exam and sat and waited in the parking lot for 2 hours due to their “walk in only” appointment option. They would not allow me to go in with her, and then the vet called me on the phone telling me that she was “extremely nervous”…….. obviously due to her being recently rescued. Being a first time dog owner as an adult I had plenty of questions I wanted to ask but didn’t even get to speak with the vet face to face. Instead, she just called me to tell me she was nervous she was and that all they could do was give her the vaccine she needed (not even a full exam). On top of that, the vet techs were not friendly and I had different people coming out to my car each time to ask me for information making it super confusing. I went to a new vet today and he gave me all kinds of helpful information, and even alerted me of a health condition my dog has which WAH failed to even mention to me about- probably because they didn’t even examine her due to her being “too nervous.” There are way better options for vet care out there than this one. Take your business somewhere else.

Love this animal hospital! I've been going here for over 20 years. The vets are amazing & very caring. They take their time with you. Appts are recommended but not needed. Walk ins accepted.

The Wheaton animal hospital is amazing!! They do such a good job caring for our dog. The vets and vet techs always remember him when we bring him. Their boarding is great too. Our dog has seemed stressed when we’ve picked him up from boarding at other vets, but not the Wheaton Animal hospital. I think I’m part because of his connection to the staff and their work to care for each pet.

The lovely ladies at Wheaton Animal Hospital are always so kind, genuine, and willing to help. The Vets are extremely kind as well, making sure you know what they’re talking about without you feeling stupid as well as making sure your animal receives the best and cost effective care. Took less than 10 minutes for them to help me out and figure out if my boy Chester was going to need assistance after eating M&Ms. Thank you!!

Everyone is kind and professional from the front desk to the techs and doctors. It is hard to get a grooming booked on Saturdays, which is understandable, so call way in advance if you want that particular day of the week. I feel good leaving my dog in their hands. Lily had a dental cleaning and I couldn't pick her up until after work. They were wonderful about keeping her all day. That put my mind at ease.

Vet and techs very skilled and provide good care. Front desk experience VERY LACKING. I was clearly much less important than their dating experiences. Two recent visits left standing at desk w staff there and they ignored me. No greeting, no can I help you , just a very long dialogue on why not to go back to old boyfriend or whatever they are typing in is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than greeting a customer. Truly not ok.

Staff is always friendly. Every doctor we have had is thorough and kind, keeping the animal's experience foremost in their minds.

I adopted a dog from Paws4U4Ever. I started taking my dog here since they work with the shelter to neuter/spay pups. The vet was great. The staff is really friendly. They treat Cass with love and care. 10/10 would recommend.

We have been taking our two dogs and two cats here for about eight years. The vets, techs, and front desk staff are always friendly and empathetic.
