I attended a bridal shower here. It's a great little place with awesome food and plenty of vegan options for me. Service was incredible. This is the only photo I took of my amazing salad.

Sooo i came here because im lowkey in love with gordon ramsey so once i saw that this guy one the masterchef show i had to try it out. I ordered the mussels verde, cappellini proteina and seafood marechiara. Total bill was $76.77. The order was ready for pickup. The pasta tasted homemade and was fresh. They gave me tons of bread as a side. The mussels and shrimp tasted great. Ill definitely be back again.

I'm sure you have read thousands of articles/blogs/propaganda about the best pizza. Well guess what - here is the real story Donna's has this singular, original and most amazing pizza. They have many varieties of pizza but their flat iron steak pizza is simply the best. Not great - THE BEST. I have lived in so many states Michigan, Colorado, New Jersey among others and tried so many pizzas, but nothing comes close to this. The incredible chef that invented this wonderful dinner treat beats out my best cooking (I do grilled BBQ pizzas so you know). I can't begin to tell you howl delicious, distinctive and delightful this pizza is to enjoy. If you don't try this pizza once, you'll miss the best of the best, It's just simply.....................................(you will finish this after you eat it).

Wow…. About all the bad reviews that the food is ordinary!!! Wow about everything what we order tonight me and my wife. Everything was a poetry on a palette. There is no restaurant depot products here at all. Everything is made from a scratch. Great quality and great taste We were on the way for different restaurant but so happy that I made that turn. Axtons thank you for everything.

Quite disappointed. Ordered 2 pies, one white, one bacon. Waited over an hour and a half for the 2 pies. I can deal with that, but the pizzas both arrived stale. You had to really bite down and pull hard to break a piece off. The white pie is seriously lacking in flavor. The bacon pie hardly had any bacon on it. Really quite disgraceful at $21+ per pie. Anytime I order a bacon pie elsewhere it’s pretty well loaded. See below.

I was very excited to try Donna's with my family. Unfortunately, we were all disappointed. The place is extra small and I would not recommend it for dine-in. Even when dining in, your food is served in tin containers and you are given a baggie of plastic silverware. I felt like I was in a hospital cafeteria. My two children each ordered an adult baked ziti. The description said it had melted mozzarella. It did not state that it was fresh mozzarella. You would think it would state specifically on the menu. My kids don't like hot fresh mozzarella, so that was a waste right off the bat. Not only that, it only had only one slice over the entire container. It didn't even cover the pasta! My kids removed the pathetic slice and basically ate their pasta with marinara. I waited about 15min extra for my dish, after my kids had already gotten theirs. So, by the time I got mine, they were just about finished eating. I ordered the Nicolette, which also states melted mozzarella and LIGHT pink sauce. My meal was DOUSED in a greasy, oily sauce. So much that I couldn't even taste the other ingredients in the dish. So much for "Light" sauce. It was also served with fresh mozzarella(not listed on menu). The bread came out after the kids were finished with their dinner. They don't have fountain drinks(only bottles) or ice for that matter. They had to run to the restaurant next door to get ice. Sad to say, we won't return nor will we ever recommend this "restaurant".

The food is always amazing here! We recently had our wedding at Axton's and everyone LOVED the food. A couple of my guests said this: "Best filet mignon I've ever had, it was so tender" "The risotto was out of this world" "The mash, I don't know what he did but it was amazing" The staff was extremely nice and accommodating for the wedding needs and Anton, the owner was great with everything!

Went for the first time and easy to say I’ll be back. BYO, Amazing food, and big portions you can’t go wrong. And honestly don’t walk but run to try the pork chop on the special menu, absolutely incredible. Staff is friendly and great as well. Prices may look high but the quality and portion size will not let you leave hungry. Well Done axtons.

Part II I made a return to Axton's on 5/14, I wanted to make sure it was as good as the month before, yes it was. I continue to work through the menu, we had burrata on this great crisp chewy piece of toasted bread with arugula, it was awesome and a calamari special for appetizers, really delicious. I can not figure out the sauce, I do not need to it was really, really good, let it stay a mystery. We also had a porkchop special, crazy tender and a risotto chicken dish, excellent really flavorful, a lot of depth. the staff was awesome as usual, very fun. A glass of wine and a few Peroni, I am hooked I was there for dinner on 4/22, first the staff is awesome, fun and attentive. The place is lively, fun and inviting, everyone was enjoying themselves, a great vide. I ordered the porkchop, I think it was on the special list, it is in the top 3 porkchops I have ever eaten. I am not going to bore you and say I have eaten hear and there for comparison. The massive chop was juicy, insanely tender, a little smoky and luscious, I cut a piece with my fork, the flavors were incredible, I will add more about the meal later, in general the appetizers were also good and the desert was really good. Finally, an Italian restaurant that knows Italian does not equal parmesan everything. I suggest you make this place a stop

Service was good and the pizza was well constructed and, for the most part, tasted great but the tomato sauce was gross. Far too sweet and left me with a bad case of acid reflux. Highly recommend getting anything but the tomato sauce if you get a pizza, because they do offer alternatives.

I was having 8 people for a pizza party the other night and needed the pizza delivered at a certain time. I called Donna's and explained my situation. The gentleman on the phone was so pleasant and so very willing to accommodate my request. The delivery person was right on time and again a very pleasant person to deal with. By the way, the pizza was delicious and my company was so impressed with the delivery service.

Great hidden gem of a restaurant! I've passed by here hundreds of times living in the area but just went in for the first time and was blown away. Very tastefully decorated inside and plenty of space between the tables. The staff was very friendly and you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. We ordered a Buratta special, the Apple Mango salad, and Scallops Basilica. You can taste how fresh all of the ingredients are and the attention to detail with the platings. Anton knows how to combine unique flavors together rather than sticking with buttered down sauces. Highly recommend!

Phenomenal vegan pizza! Really well balanced flavors, I tasted every ingredient without tasting any one. The crust was the best i have had. It held up to the moisture and weight of a multi topping pizza and held firm. Folds up perfectly for pizza folders. Really simple...GO HERE

Don't be fooled by the unassuming location - the food is excellent. Ask about portion size unless you want leftovers - the pork chop is plenty for two, as is the cannoli crepe, but we managed to power through because it was so good.

This was such an amazing experience. The food here is phenomenal, very highly recommend! The bread and the dough are sensational. Super light and airy, and delivers the perfect crust. All the food is superb here, and this spot is definitely a must-try if you are vegetarian or vegan. So many options! They have vegan cheese, so you can essentially make any pizza you want and swap out the cheese. Their vegan chicken parm was probably the finest faux chicken we have tried yet. Can't wait to return!! PS- Absolutely thrilling to meet chef Anton!!

We're still on our mission to find the best margherita pie in NJ. This week we were in Pompton Lakes, NJ and yes, Donna's Pizza by Chef Anton Testino caught our eye. New-er place? Okay, let's do it. We ordered a few different pies besides the margherita. Naturally, when we see a pizza place advertise "the best Sicilian..." game on. But first, the Margherita pie. What we like to do is pick up our order, open the box to get the freshest taste possible even if its in our car. We opened and the pie looked fantastic. A "normal size" crust, not think, not thick... the usual. The fresh mozz was spaced out nicely but a little burnt. The sauce was fresh with baked on basil leaves and a nice olive oil shine. We were excited BUT upon the first bite... it was missing something! The crust had a very nice crispiness but was lacking freshness. I hate to say it but almost like when you reheat your pizza in a regular oven. The sauce as well.. very fresh but we did not get that basil and/or sweet tomato sauce taste. We wanted to like this, we really did but we did not get any flavor from it. The mozz was fine. The other pies were okay as well. We did the Sicilian and Nonna's pan pizza. Honestly, the Sicilian was the best pie of the three, a nice salty sauce, not too thick crust (fresh) and regular mozz melted on top. Nothing fancy but worth a try. Nonna's was in 3rd place. A very greasy pie, advertised with aged mozz with basil leaves, pan pie with some thickness in the crust. This was not as fresh as the Sicilian; the mozz and sauce, again, was okay. Overall, would we order the Marherita again? Yes, because this has so much potential to be a great pie. It really does. Plus, we have to say, the customer service was great at Donna's. Very easy online ordering, you are greeted at the door followed up by a request to help you with your pies out of the door. Its the little things that count.

I'm gonna say a few things. And I'm gonna use some bad words. The owner is not a celebrity chef. Because you go on hells kitchen and fail to win does not make you a celebrity. Also, working with GR, you would think someone would have learned... anything. Just another italian joint, all they are missing is the garlic knots.

This was one of the best meals I ever had at a restaurant. The service was slow but I expected that from a restaurant that cooks on demand rather than expectation. The waitresses were friendly andattentive. I had the filet mignon. My husband had a HUGE pork chop. Both were cooked exceptionally and the sauces were delicious. Although it was high priced, I don’t think it was expensive for the quality. I may not be back in a regular basis, but I will be back

This review is for the staff, not the food because we never even got to put in a full order. We arrived to our 4:30 reservation on time with 7/9 of our party with us. The last two people were running late, by about 6 minutes. With this information provided to the staff they told us they are not able to seat us until our fully party arrives. The restaurant was empty at this time, being that they had just opened for the day 30 minutes prior to our arrival. We were made to wait in the cold until the full party arrived. What a great start! Once we are able to be seated we are immediately presented with the worst customer service I have ever experienced from staff. No one said “Hello.” or “Welcome”. The atmosphere was cold and very unwelcoming, however we kept our spirits high and tried to make the most of it. We were there to celebrate a 30th birthday. Our waitress was an older woman with red hair. I cannot remember her name, unfortunately. She was very rushed in her introduction. She read us a full specials list in full detail with ingredients all the way down to the cheese topping… this was not helpful due to the fact we had no menu with this information printed to follow. We did not retain any information. Do you have a specials list? I would highly suggest getting one if not. Once she was finished she mentioned her name, but I was still trying to process the specials. The next words out of her mouth made our whole experience thus far make sense. She stated “We have a very large party coming in at 7:30pm. I know it looks empty now but it won’t be very soon.” Meaning, hurry up and order so we can get you out of here. That was not the last time the 7:30pm party was mentioned from our waitress. When coming around 2 minutes after the Bible of specials was read to us, she made the comment again. “I am not trying to rush you, but we have another large party coming in.” Yes, in 3 hours.. I do not plan on spending the night in your restaurant, so why are you continuing to bring this “very large party” up to us. We had a reservation. We were also paying customers. Why was the other party (not even there) treated better than us? Where in any customer service training are you supposed to inform guests of another party coming in? What does that mean to us? At this point we are all very uncomfortable by your staff and their comments. The celebrated birthday guest asks if we are able to leave without being charged. Our waitress begins to apologize for “making us feel that way”, begging us to stay. It’s too late. We leave. 5 minutes up the road is Jardin Latino. We arrive with NO NOTICE and a party of 7. We are greeted with a smile from one counter representative, who will also be our waiter. This restaurant was busy with, now, two large parties. He didn’t even flinch. We were welcomed and made to feel like human, not an inconvenience. For a restaurant that has “Gordon Ramsey” plastered for all to see, you would expect a higher Google review. Now I see why you have 4.2/5.0.

Food is very good. However, they charge you 4% for using a credit card even though their prices are high. I would return, but not that often. I can find food as good at a lower price.

Loved our seafood appetizer and branzino…Great place for a celebration or date night. The menu/specials list had some very creative well thought out dishes and would definitely return to try other plates. Service was great. Would definitely recommend!

Our entrees were very good. I had cavatelli and my wife had linguini with vodka sauce. The calamari appetizer we shared was lousy. The prices are high. I dont think the area can support the upscale pricing.

  • 1/5 David P. 1 year ago on Google
Service was sub par at best. I am new to the area and lives in the basking ridge area prior. The service out west is second to none. Never refilled our wine. Asked for some olive oil to eat with the nice bread they gave us instead of the subway vinaigrette in a metal cup. Never came. I ordered the famous calamari which was drowned in the jeckyl and Hyde sauce. I pray the calamari were slaughtered before being drowned in the sauce. A 3 fork serving of spinach 9 bucks. 55 for a filet which was cooked well but nothing on side. The specials were ok but the service for a $250 dollar night for a couple at a byob is absurd. I’ll go elsewhere for sure. Decent food but way overpriced and the service is sub par. And a feeling of being rushed as others have stated.

Had theatre tickets at Stageworks Studio 237 (another wonderful review!), and found this fabulous restaurant nearby! Unassuming from the outside, this small but charming BYOB was really terrific. We both started with the caesar salad - not only delicious but so pretty. I had the salmon special and my husband had the pork chop. We loved everything! The service was excellent - turns out the waitress was the Chef's Mom, and boy, is she an asset to the place! I hope her son appreciates her!!

Ate at the restaurant with my family once and got delivery once. Everything is excellent but the 2 chicken risotto dishes are unbelievable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

So glad I ordered from Axtons. They called me with information and had the order ready in a timely manner. The food is amazing there and the portions are large. Our favorite dish is the mussels verde.
