I lived at the Griffin Center City apartments for 3 years while my fiance was in medical residency. During our time here, there were so many false fire alarms that not only myself but my dog developed anxiety related to any kind of alarm resembling the fire alarm. The elevators are constantly breaking down. On our move in day, we were about five minutes after our elevator reservation time because we got stuck in traffic on our five hour drive. The front desk would not allow us to move in any of our belongings and suggested we get a hotel for the night. We had to park our UHaul in an open lot for about $50 overnight and my dad slept on the floor. Toward the end of our lease, we had two and a half months where we needed to stay in our unit after our lease ended. They used to offer a 3 month leasing option, but of course when we needed it they inexplicably took that option away. But don't worry! They do allow you to extend your lease month to month, which only cost us $1400 more than our already overpriced rent. That is after we were so graciously given a $300 discount. Once we moved out, we received a bill for around $800. This is apparently because the carpet in the bedroom had "pet waste odor" and needed to be entirely replaced. Interestingly, our dog never had any accidents in the bedroom or on that carpeting, so I'm not sure how they came up with that. Of course, there is no way to prove or disprove the presence of pet odor when you are 5 hours away, so I guess that's another almost $1k in their greedy little pockets! The apartments are clean. The maintenance staff and front desk staff are very nice and do a great job. The location is close to a lot of cool stuff, but outside can get quite dirty (as is typical for a city). But BEWARE. If you want to live here, make sure you have money to burn! (P.S., I have noticed that most of the positive reviews are from people who have only lived here a month or two, or haven't tried to move out. Of course not everyone is going to have a bad experience. I just mean that when I needed compassion and cooperation and transparency from this management staff, they did not provide it. They actively worked against me to make things harder for us. That's how business works I guess, but that's not 'care for residents'. We always paid our rent on time and never caused any problems for this building, and I feel we were treated poorly in return.)

Great building with clean common areas. I’ve been to many buildings in Philly, and I must say, Shawn, Tiffany and the rest of his team, who service the front desk, has been nothing short of exceptional. From the warm welcome of very time you walk through the door, to their attentiveness through all of my deliveries.. they truly go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and valued as a resident. Their professionalism, efficiency, and friendly demeanor are always truly remarkable. The cleaning and maintenance/ building staff are also 10/10… always attentive and very nice/ friendly which is very hard to find. Kudos to the front desk staff, maintenance/ building and cleaning staff for their outstanding service!

The building is clean and well-maintained. Shawn at the front desk is always helpful and welcoming. The location of the building is central to everything once might need from restaurants to grocery stores and historical landmarks. Griffin is a safe community great for anyone who enjoys the city life.

I’m an old timer here. And love the Griffin! I am well taken care of by management , maintence and the front desk team. This is key for me living here! The building is run with love! Love for all the residents! And the parties have been amazing in every way! Oh the amenities ?? A Plus! I have one complaint. There is a very strong and off putting air freshener in the lobby and the gym that feels really hard on my chest and toxic. I hope they remove this!

I went for a tour based on the prices and availability shown on Zillow. When I got there, they told me "Oops, the prices on Zillow are inaccurate. But we'll happily show you this apartment that's $300 more per month than what we advertised." Thanks for wasting my time.

Beautiful apartments with lots of natural light, amazing front desk people, tons of amenities and a dog park on the roof - overall a great place to live. Moving in can be a challenge since it's in Center City but there is generally parking on the opposite side of the street in the morning so it's not impossible. My only real complaint - and this isn't something that the Griffin can really address directly - is the noise on weekends / game nights. Chestnut street can get quite loud and even with state of the art noise machines, if your apartment is on Chestnut, you're going to hear the festivities, car horns honking, etc. until 3am.

This is a great building with great staff--in particular, the front door man Sean. He is super friendly, efficient and knows how to treat people he interacts with. I would highly recommend renting here--the location is perfect, very clean and modern spaces and you can get anywhere in center city with ease.

Always a warm welcome from the Concierge when you walk in, especially from Shawn. He's one of the many reasons I live here. Happy to call the Griffin home for another year.

It’s a really nice building in the heart of Center City. Public areas are always clean and there’s very little noise between units. Maintenance is very responsive to requests, often addressing issues within hours. Shawn at the front desk is absolutely superb, always friendly and keeps everything highly organized.

I have been living at the Griffin Apartments since March 2022 and the whole experience so far has been fantastic. The front desk concierge staff is always friendly, maintains our package room extremely well, and has been flexible working with me when needing to reserve things like the freight elevator for moving in larger furniture pieces. The maintenance team is extremely responsive and very transparent with next steps when addressing any issues in the apartment, which have been few. Lastly, the management team has been one of the best I've experienced so far. They spent a good amount of time touring available units with me and was able to land on a floorplan that I really enjoy. Shout out to Stephanie for always offering fantastic conversations as well.
