One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. The hash browns were perfect and pecan pancake also perfect. I’d eat here 100x

I've loved coming to Jim's since I was in high school. It's a Solon institution. The Herb Nelson has always been my favorite. I decided to try the Ultimate Herb this time. It was delicious, but I think I prefer the regular because I didn't love the tomatoes/green peppers in it. My husband and I also got the Country Benedict and the Bananas Foster French Toast. Both were delicious. The Bananas Foster French Toast is no longer on the menu, but they still made it for us. It's a popular place, so expect a bit of a wait on the weekends. They move fast though, so it doesn't usually take too long. My biggest surprise this visit is that they now accept credit card. It used to be cash only. I try to come here every time I'm in town visiting my parents because I love it.

I went out on a limb and chose this place since we were going to be in the area and wanted a cozy, homemade breakfast. I am SO glad we did! The staff was beyond friendly and the food was quickly and correctly prepared. The cost was average and the service was phenomenal. I will definitely go back next time I'm in the area and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick and delicious breakfast!

Place has got a 50's feel to it. Stopped in after a Bluegrass festival at Nelson's, very busy place for a small restaurant. So we had a good wait to get our food and drinks refilled. Staff was nice, but they were overwhelmed with the amount of people who needed served. Food was delicious and the portions were filling. I'd stop in here again on my travels.

Loved it! I have talked about going in for months since moving to the area. Finally, it happened. Great music, food, service atmosphere. Will definitely be back, with friends! Thank you Jims Open Kitchen!

Took my boys here for breakfast as a little mom and boys date. We were welcomed as soon as we walked into the door and told to choose where we would like to sit. We sat down and we were shortly greeted by our server who brought crayons and paper to keep the boys distracted 😍 service was quick seems she turned around and had our drinks out! I was ready to order so she took our order and not even I would say 10 minutes our food was ready!! My oldest’s French toast sticks took a few minutes extra but well worth the FEW minute wait! Overall 10/10 experience can’t wait to come back! P.S. if you had good service, good food, and a good time they have a bell you can ring on the way out. The kids LOVED this and let’s just say 3 bell rings from us! 💕 (In my picture I had already sampled the eggs and toast 😂) not pictured is the Mickey Mouse shaped pancake my youngest got 💜

Place is a bit on the small space and if you're a bit more on the husky size be prepared to sit at the counter as there isn't much room in the booths. Personally I don't mind the size as it makes the place feel more down to earth and homey. The food more than makes up for anything negative I could potentially say, best sausage gravy and biscuits I've ever had.

I grew up in the area and never heard of this place! It's been around for 60 years and I drove by it hundreds of times not realizing what it was. It is hidden but what a gem! This is what I would call a classic vintage diner: small, not perfect, kinda worn but full of character! I tried their burger and fries and it was great. The next morning I took my wife and she got the eggs benedict and I got more of a traditional breakfast and it was fantastic and full of flavor. If there ever was a film crew wanting that look and atmosphere, this is it. Small, cozy and great food. I will be coming here more often.

Jim's Open Kitchen: Fantastic find! Classic 50's style eatery. Great service, great food, cool nostalgia & music that all come together and really hit the spot. Good for the tummy, and good for the soul.

Service was ok, but did not get what I ordered. Prices have changed and so has the quality. The burger was not seasoned and flavorless. Overall; over priced and very underwhelming. Sad, I had hoped for better from a long standing locally operated restaurant.

Exactly what you’d expect from an old school diner. Simple but good breakfast food. Staff was friendly. The only thing that may be tricky for people is that it isn’t a large restaurant so getting a seat may be difficult. Our party of 6 got extremely lucky because I think only the one table up front can accommodate a group that big from what I could see.

Oh my...what a beautiful and tasty experience! We're visiting from Virginia, for the weekend and searched "best breakfast in Solon" & this diner came up! We had the specials - pesto omelet - 2 orders of potato Pancakes - cheesy eggs over grits w/tomato. Wow! Only recommendation is for you to sit at the counter when you visit. The cooks were super efficient. Be sure to tip them separately than the waitstaff...they're gifted. Coffee was delicious and the staff were so friendly. We even met a believer there and confirmed that God's spirit is everywhere!!

I came from Texas since I lived here before since it was only place that is a real diner experience, food was great same as I remembered and old fashioned diner atmosphere is really awesome.Service was excellent waitress was friendly with a smile. One thing that came to my attention is the other employees sitting at counter or texting on there phones not looking very happy at all no smiles at all as if they don't even wanting to be there . The cook wearing only a hat that had long hair should be wearing a net on his head working over a grill .

Jim's is the classic dumpy diner - small, cozy, smells pleasantly of bacon and grease. You'll get solid helpings of breakfast foods here, a warm cup of soup, or a good burger. Prices seem to have gone up, but it's a good experience when you can get in.

Breakfast was good! The counter makes for a great atmosphere where you can see everything going on. Fried potatoes are random: some are served nice and browned, and include some crispy areas, but mine were not like that. Basically just warm potato pieces. Our side of bacon was not started until our other food was served because the expediter forgot to tell the cook, so then it was rushed and not crisped up, and then it sat for server pickup several minutes while our server chatted with a customer for a bit then went in the kitchen to fiddle around on her phone. Eventually had to wave down another server to please bring it to us. Best gravy! Perfect example of what a sausage gravy should be! We’ll go back and hope these little hiccups were a one-time thing. The ingredients were fresh and of good quality.

The best breakfast around, friendly staff, quick service and fair prices. I've been coming here since I moved to the east side 15 years ago and never get sick of the Ultimate Herb Nelson breakfast.
