Watchtower of Odesa Quarantine

Tourist attraction

👍👍 It is very beautiful to watch sunsets here, as well as engage in various practices in the rays of the rising sun. At the base of the tower there is a microscopic museum of bricks.

The Powder Tower is a beautiful place for a photo shoot. Arcades of the Odessa fortress, part of the quarantine complex that was once located here. The observation deck offers a magnificent view of the Odessa Bay and the port. By the way, in the 70-80s of the last century there was a billiard room very close by, in which some scenes of the film “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed” were filmed.

It offers a wonderful view of the port. The place is quite nice, just a lot of garbage. It is rarely cleaned here. Benches need repair.

The reconstruction may be good, but no one was interested in the history of this place. Previously, there was a hospital here during the time of the plague, so in the park there are burials in the form of various elevations and small slides, etc. You can take a walk around the surrounding area, but you shouldn’t do excavations or level these hills and hills, otherwise you’ll know what will happen there.

Walking through the park you can see the remains of the Quarantine Arcade, where the small Turkish fortress Hadzhibey was located more than 200 years ago. Another name for the Yedi-Dunya fortress. It was completely destroyed. And between 1803-1807, the architect I. Krug built protective structures on the slopes under the Quarantine Harbor in order to prevent the spread of the plague epidemic.

It turned out great after the renovation! A good panorama of the port, in the tower there are permanent exhibitions on the history of the city (and they are free) There is an archery range nearby; festivals and open fairs are often held 🌹
