Rare example of a building which survived the 18thC earthquake. Visit by tour only, 5Euro, just turn up after 1430. Enthusiastic guide for 1hr. Worth the time if you are in that part of town

Great personalised tour. Wonderful history in this old convent down an unassuming side street in Lisbon. A hidden treasure.

€5 cash entry with a tour. I was lucky enough to have Mario, the director, as my guide after just walking in off the street. Blown away by the condition of the pieces and the design of the smaller galleries is very well done. Highly recommend!

Rather inconspicuous from the outside, there are many artistic gems hidden behind the walls, especially the tiles in the church and other objects of sacred art. The small-group tour in English was very informative and entertaining and gave detailed insights into the lives of the Carmelite nuns who used to live here. A community of religious sisters currently lives here and is dedicated to caring for women with disabilities. The entry fee, currently €5, benefits this commitment. Clear recommendation away from the tourist mainstream. A reference to this place was found in the travel guide “Reise Know-How CityTrip Lisbon” by Petra Sparrer, 5th edition 2022.

Despite the (intentionally) drab exterior, the inside of this convent is beautifully decorated, having survived the earthquake. The volunteers here are also incredibly helpful, and will show around or tell about the convent's history.

This is a hidden gem...the tiles, the architecture and the history. The guide is fantastic and I learnt so much. They still house girls & women inside the old convent....so please support them.

A hidden gem in the winding streets of Lisbon that you probably won't find in any guidebooks. Unfortunately we were too late for a tour and were therefore only able to take the brochure and a look into the church with us. I can only recommend a visit to this monastery to everyone. You will certainly learn more about monastic life than in the Mosteiro de Jeronimos.

Very competent and prepared guided tour in Italian. I recommend to everyone. From the outside you would never enter but I can't imagine the treasures kept!

Excellent value, fascinating tour for 5€. The only convent in Lisbon with nuns still in residence and they do such good work there looking after women who need them, please support them.
