Há dois mil anos os Romanos faziam a salga dos peixes aqui nestes tanques. Daqui, seguiam para Roma.

Located next to the beach with the same name, it is easy to access and is well identified and signposted. There is no guide, interpretation center or bathrooms. Access is free, although cars must pay for parking. The Archaeological Station is the starting point of the small route PR3/STB walking trail.

The Creiro Archaeological Station is an industrial complex for the production of fish salting from Roman times and has the remains of the ruins of factories, bathhouses and warehouses. The fish salting factory building was built in the 1st century AD and at the end of the century it underwent renovation work, which increased the number of existing tanks. It was in these salting tanks that the fish, especially sardines and mackerel, macerated in salt, remaining preserved for a long period.

The ruins are at the entrance to Creiro beach. Entrance is free and you can read information on signs placed along the route.
