I had thought this was a really good place to stay at. However over the course of a two week stay everyone in my room realized we were all covered in these same, tiny bites. One evening after we came back from a trip around Tokyo, we found that our bed sheets had been changed without any of us asking. (Normally this is something you have to pay for). Later that night we found a fully grown bed bug. We all had an awful time sleeping, and found out that they had washed our sheets because they knew that we had bed bugs and didn’t tell us at all. After raising up our concerns to the management and workers, they brushed off our concerns and acted as if it was nothing. The ONLY thing they were willing to do was to help us move into a bigger room with more people. It was clear they didn’t know how bed bugs spread at all, and how bad they could be for their entire business, especially because of how easy they spread. They still made us pay to use their laundry machines, and gave no form of compensation. It was absolutely ridiculous how nonchalant they were about the whole ordeal. Do NOT stay here unless you want bed bugs and to go through the ordeal of throwing away luggage and spending hours cleaning them to ensure they don’t come home with you. I know this place is cheap, but as the saying goes “you get what you pay for.”

We needed an affordable place to sleep and shower that is close to the subway station. These were only our requirements since our itinerary was packed and we're very much satisfied with this hostel. The bed was comfortable, there's an outlet per bed, room temperature was cool even if we travelled during summer, shower rooms and toilets were clean all the time. Towel, bath gel, and shampoo were provided by this hostel as well. There are chairs and tables on the rooftop but we only went there once to eat dinner during our first night. There's also a kitchen and laundry machines you can use. Of course, since this is dorm type, prepare yourself to hear some noise inside the room whenever other people are arriving and/or leaving but it was minimal and bearable during the days we were there. We also appreciate that it's close to the subway, restaurants, convenience stores, and grocery stores. If we're going back to Tokyo then this is where we're staying again.

The hostel is run by a mix of young Japanese and foreigners on working vacation visas so it is very lively and friendly. It is a great location for long term travelers (I was here 5 days) looking to rest especially in a city as big as Tokyo. The kitchen has a lot of spices and is near three cheap groceries. The neighborhood is very homey and quiet, but there are a lot of subway stations in walking distance to take you anywhere across the metro area. I had a really good bed (410!) and it was fun to come back to a very happy home at the end of the day. Bathrooms were clean enough and beds were comfy. Met a lot of awesome people and would honestly stay here again next time I am in Tokyo :)

My room was a 6 people room. The hostel is ok and the staff is nice. I think the best is the location, near from a metro station. The common area is not so big.

To the staff that works here, If you have one couple in an empty hostel dorm of 10 beds and you book one more person to that empty hostel dorm, please, don't put him right next to us. We had the whole freaking dorm open in a large room. The guy was snoring, and he really didn't need to be that close. A little thought and consideration can go a long way. Please learn from our discomfort. When possible, please give your guest some space. Update: I changed my review from 1 star to 3 stars. It really isn't that bad of a place to stay. It was nice and social. Met some cool people. the staff was great. The pillows were really nice. I was tired and cranky when i wrote my original review. Just try and give space when possible.

After lunch with friends, we were looking for a prayer room, we were directed by google to this nice and warm place. Upon arrival, we were warmly and friendly welcomed to do our prayer, both the staff and the tenants were gathered in the lobby like family members talking and playing... I wintnessed this warm environment for the first time in a hostel, it makes you feel like not a foreigner anymore, I highly recommend this place for people who are looking for a "convivial atmosphere". Also there is rooms for working, sports and others

An amazing hostel in Tokyo at a great price! Located just a few minutes walk from a metro station and 10 mins from 2 other metro lines it's in the perfect place to explore the rest of Tokyo. The staff are super friendly and always around if you need them. Downstairs there is a kitchen / living space which is always really sociable. There's also some cooking oils/spices and plenty of utensils for you to use if you want to eat in. A huge bonus was the work space on the 2nd floor with plenty of room for people to work in. Bathrooms are extremely clean as are the rooms. We stayed in a private room which was spacious. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Tokyo.

It was my first hostel experience, and it was basically exactly how I expected it to be. Your satisfaction entirely depends on the roommates that you get. One person next to me was breathing exactly like a pug and sharting every 5 minutes, and then a sick person shows up in an adjacent bed coughing up a storm. I was afraid to be near that, so I had requested my room to be changed and the staff were very accommodating. The staff is very friendly. You do get to meet some interesting people from far away places. For the price of this place, it was worth it and got the job done. There were washers (300 yen) and dryers too (100 yen/30 mins). They had super smash bros there if you like video games. There's a nice little spot on the roof too.

RECOMMENDED: what a terrific little place in the heart of Tokyo. I stayed in this hostel for 3 days and had the best time imaginable. Price: by far one of the cheapest options in Tokyo. Location: It's I closely located to about 5 metro lines, allowing you to get virtually everywhere in the city within 25 minutes. Atmosphere: The staff was so welcoming and helpful. They treat you first as a friend and then as a client, it creates a very cozy and lovely environment. The hostel also offered nice evening activities like video games. Facilities: Very modern and well maintained. Great Showers, kitchen, and washing machine. Overall, I had a very good time here and will most definitely come back.

I stayed here for around 1.5 months. This is probably the best hostel you’ll find in Tokyo. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Staff is very helpful and most of them can speak English as well. You may find yourself staying in the lounge most of the time as there is a Nintendo switch/kotatsu located there where you can play smash and drink with friends. Amazing area to have fun and socialize. Beds are washed once a week by staff, so make sure all your belongings are cleared out of the bed when that day comes. You get your own locker in your room where you can store your valuables. It’s decently sized so you can store quite a bit of stuff in there. I highly recommend this hostel.

We had a great stay at Hostel DEN. We chose a private room for two. It was spacious and decor very modern; the bed was so so comfy. We had shared bathrooms and showers and they were always immaculately clean. My only critique would be the window in our room was quite thin and didn’t offer a lot of sound or thermal insulation - but it is a quiet street and air conditioning in the room so wasn’t too much of an issue. The shared kitchen was well equipped and clean. We were really impressed with the Muslim facilities right down to the details of a halal dish sponge! The share space also cool with a large kotatsu, heaps of board games and Nintendo Switch! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very nice and friendly staff. While check in isn’t until 4 pm you are able to leave your luggage before that time which is very convenient. Lots of bars and restaurants near Kenda station to enjoy.

The crowd is on the younger side, so if you're solo and like parties this is the place for you to tag along with a group. The rooms are similar to other hostels, all the commotion is happening at the lobby and not the rooms. Also they have strong zero so you dont have have to go to the combi to get it.

Cheap place. Incompetent staff. Before I arrived in Japan I checked to see if it would be ok if I received an expensive package. The staff told me I should add my name and check in date and it would be ok. However, I asked about my mail and the staff couldn’t find it. I showed proof it was delivered, but they just kept saying they can’t find it. The sender also called and the staff just said they don’t know why they can’t find it. I think since it was expensive, the staff stole it. I would highly recommend not staying here. Incompetent staff and possibly thieves.

Stayed in female dorm on late April for 3 nights. Room is bright and airy because it has many windows. It provides locker and a lock for luggage. Kitchen is a bit tiny but very well equipped. Staffs are friendly and speak good English. It has toilets on every floor, but we have to go down to 2nd floor for shower. Only 3 shower rooms for all ladies in the hostel. I had to wait a bit almost every night. Cosy tatami style common area, but small and packed at night. Except the wait to use shower room, everything else is great. It's very clean. Thank you for keeping our luggage after we checked out.

Excelent hostel. Staff was incredibly friendly and always willing to help you with anything you need. The location is not that bad since you have several good metro stations close by (a few minutes walking). The common areas and rooms are very cozy and impeccable. The staff organizes all kinds of special nights thoughout the week. We participated Mario kart tournament and ate dinner together which was very fun! And they also had a all you can eat pancake breakfast which was pretty inexpensive and yummy. I would 100% recommend this place and would stay here again without a doubt if I came back to Tokyo.

I have stayed in 20+ hostels so far and this is by far the best one I’ve ever been to. It’s extremely clean, with free shampoo, conditioner and soap, the staff is always helpful, the beds are comfortable and there are free lockers in the rooms. The location is super convenient with both the subway and trains just 5-8 min. Away.

I stayed here for 4 days and a fantastic experience. Very friendly and helpful staff, and clean, modern facilities. Maybe the coolest thing was the ‘handy phone’ that every bed came with. You could bring the phone with you when traveling Tokyo and it had free unlimited data and local calling, as well as built in tourist guides for Tokyo. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Best Hostel Experience I've Ever Had! I solo traveled to Tokyo from Canada and this place was extremely cozy and welcoming! Rooms, bathrooms and the lounge were pretty clean. People were awesome. Good mix of foreigners/tourists and locals staying here.

nice place friendly staff and good to meet people. rooftop drying clotheslines to save a couple yen on the dryer. my only complaint is the automatic taps are hard to keep on to wash your face in the morning 🤣

Affordable but common area seems not super clean. People stay there longer was gathering at the common area but not many guests were. Shower room is not the same floor as the dormitory is, so you need a bit of effort to take either stairs or a lift. Stuffs are kind and friendly. Price wise, I’m satisfied.

One of the most affordable options in this area. Rooms/beds aren't the most comfortable of layouts but it's stay-able.

  • 5/5 Trevor B. 1 year ago on Google
I've stayed at quite a few hostels, and DEN checks the important boxes. Clean with good bathrooms. The bunkbeds are solid, reducing noise from other people. The common area is cozy and has features for promoting being social if desired. My experience was a bit subdued, but I came 2 months after covid restrictions lifted in the dead of winter. If you want a safe and clean hostel, this is it.
