My
wife
and
I
visited
this
place
a
few
years
ago
when
it
was
"The
Coach
House,"
and
we
didn't
like
it
much.
It's
rebranded
now
as
"The
Hutch
on
Avondale,"
presumably
new
kitchen
and
what-not,
and
it's
really
changed.
The
fried
artichoke
was
rather
tasty
as
a
shared
appetizer,
paired
with
Cava
and
a
"seasonal
negroni"
that
was
CLEAR
.
.
.
(still
not
even
closely
familiar
with
the
genesis
of
this
beverage,
but
it
was
good).
My
wife
had
tomato
soup
and
a
Caesar
for
supper
(soup
was
average-plus,
but
the
Caesar
was
tasty).
I
had
the
duck
confit,
and
it
was
tasty,
though
I
wasn't
really
excited
about
it
in
the
end,
though
the
portion
size
was
great
--
not
too
much,
and
not
too
little.
It's
not
the
normal
Oklahoma-style
restaurant
that
most
places
in
this
state
are
--
pile
the
plate
high
with
average
fare,
and
it's
"a
good
deal."
This
was
thoughtfully
portioned
and
a
lovely
plate.
Where
the
real
surprise
for
us
was
the
desserts.
We
got
crême
brûlée
paired
with
in-house
baked
confections
and
a
key
lime
pie
with
blueberry-ginger
compote.
This
portion
of
the
menu
is
ridiculously
on-point,
and
we,
two
avocational
cooks
and
bakers,
were
blown
away.
Two
ounces
of
XO
cognac,
BTW,
was
only
$13!!!!
Crazy.
This
place
is
great,
but
it's
curious
that
their
duck
plate
wasn't
the
shining
beacon
of
gastronomy
that
I
feel
the
bookends
of
the
meal
leaned
toward.
Oh
well.
We're
going
to
return.
It's
good.
John
[sic]
was
a
great
server,
patiently
working
with
our
picky
tastes
and
questions
and
asking
questions
of
the
other
staff
when
he
didn't
have
answers.
