Came by to see Jim Home while at the Battle of Round Mountain event and was disappoint to find the door lock and nobody around. If you are going to have a special event you would think that the other tourism destination would be open also.

I so wanted to get inside this house but there was no one there even during the supposed opening hours. I give it two stars because it was a thrill to see his home even after a two hour drive. I waited an hour but no one came. The number is disconnected on the phone posted on the website and the mailbox is full on the phone number posted on the house. I even called The Oklahoma Historical Society since their name is out front and they said they do not sponsor this site anymore, but there was mail from them on the front step. What? So sad. Just another slap in the face for the best athlete of the 20th Century.

Call first. We drove an hour and a half to discover it was closed on a Friday at 12:30.

The place is closed. You can't see anything of the museum, but looking through the windows of the cabin was cool. Ashame that they dont have it open. They have hours on the front but no one is ever there.

We had a Great Tour Lady , it was a Good Learning Experience . Loved all the Antiques thru out the house .

This was a surprise off the beaten path visit. Well worth it if you want to learn more about Jim Thorpe and see some great memorbelia.

Nice and homey and informational, especially about everyday life in that time and place. I visited because my grandmother lived in Yale about the same time as Jim Thorpe did.
