Prelude has always reminded me of the first local coffee shops that back when there was only one Starbucks in OKC. Those pioneers have given us so many wonderful experiences. Prelude is a warm and inviting space. A great place to get coffee, but also a great place to get some work done. They have retail options from local art, coffee beans, and even some vintage clothing. I got the Kyoto cold brew which is a slow drip process. It has a great flavor. Enjoy!

February 2023 Update: Again and again I keep coming back here. It’s consistency in drink quality and vibe get better and better. Their specials are always a little off the wall and make me question who I am as a person. Love this place ♥️ —— August 2021 Update: They’ve been upping their game here over the past year and the shop is looking cooooool. A bookstore is coming in and that they’re going to finally get some super comfy chairs… 👀👀👀 —— February 2020 Update: This is hands down the best coffee shop in OKC. Their spiced Kyoto cold brew is my new favorite thing! 100% would recommend. —— December 2019 UPDATE: Okay their ice is the best thing. It look like little top hats and I love it!!! —— Prelude Coffee Roasters is incredible. Formerly Mariposa Coffee Roasters they have the experience needed to roast quality beanzzz. My favorite of theirs is their horchata latte which is super creamy and cinnamon-y. lol Also their lattes start at $3.75 and their drip coffee is always $2!! Their espresso is also top notch. It comes with a homemade caramel which pairs so perfectly with the espresso. Single origins and blends are great and the service is kllr!

Tucked on the second level of 8th Street Market, this small roaster offers an airy and laid-back atmosphere for her guests while brewing up some single origin beans from various continents. They also have other beverages like tea, horchata and hot chocolate for non-coffee drinkers. The owner/barista is always ready to explain their process of roasting and brewing methods, including the intriguing Kyoto cold brew apparatus sitting in a corner of the service area. There are four tables that sits up to four people comfortably though the tables are a little too high, making it uncomfortable to work on a laptop. The bar height service area is a better spot if you plan to hang out closer to the action of the barista and chat with them. There is, however only one 2-point power outlet at the end of the bar, so come with a fully charged laptop if you plan to work some. All in all, glad to have another roaster in town, bringing good and affordable coffee to the community while doing her part in educating more people about the caffeinated drink.

Going to Prelude is my favorite past time, especially on a quiet Saturday morning. The staff is very personable, and you can tell they love what they do. I have never gotten a drink I haven't loved, and they always have a good recommendation if I need one. It's a great place to study or bring a friend and catchup. My go-to coffee shop in OKC. Do yourself a favor and go!

Awesome little coffee joint, a bit of a hidden gem. The staff were great. The coffee was good and the 8th street market is a great place to hang out. Highly recommend this place all around.

My past experiences with this coffee shop were positive, but today, one of the baristas was rude, and incredible condescending. Our group was playing Uno within the Praire area. (Which has existed long before Prelude.) People that worked at Praire came by and took our picture, encouraging us to keep playing and enjoying the game! This Prelude barista came down from her shop and was super condescending for over five minutes about us being "too loud while people were trying to study in there coffee shop." If this was a library, or if the building was only a coffee shop, that would be a reasonable request. This is an open air venue. The coffee shop opened knowing that their would be a brewery nearby. People that go to Prelude to study or have coffee know it's a coffee shop by a brewery. Why are baristas chastising neighboring patrons? Completely rubbed me the wrong way. The barista was super rude, and I will never recommend or go to this coffee shop again.

I can't say enough good things about this coffee shop. It's strange that a place with such good caffeine could make me so calm. It's upstairs in a trendy industrial building, with a train that goes by the window, but from the moment I walked into the coffee shop portion, I felt welcomed and like I belong there. The barista that day, who I think also owns the shop, made great recommendations on the pastries and we had interesting conversations about the local coffee, the items for sale in her shop, and her life. Coffee was nuanced and balanced. And this seems unimportant, but it adds so much to my enjoyment, they had local hand made cups that were just the right size and weight. We came in from out of town, so I'm sad I don't get to go back any time I want.

Adorable and quiet! Friendly staff, very clean shop. I love that they have books for sale! *Menu is a bit limited, but the coffee is good quality. *Beverage cups are a bit like Japanese tea cups, which means the larger size used for serving coffee feels a bit like a soup tureen at first because there is no handle. This means those of us lacking bear paws have to put our book down to sip coffee. *The vibe is quiet and relaxed, and there is extra seating downstairs in the buikding common area; you coukd easily get cofdee and go to one of the larger downstairs tables to chat with a larger group. *ADA accessible via elevator; parking and main door are accessible. (Note: I did not check restroom accessibility.)

This is my husband’s and my favorite place to bring our dog and relax with a book and a coffee. The drinks are delicious and the staff are wonderful. We’ve been here so much that my dog knows where we are going and has her favorite people that she MUST say hi to :) The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Highly recommend Prelude!

I was really impressed at how nice and intimate this coffee shop felt. I brought along my baby with me, not knowing the shop was upstairs. Luckily, there was a lift to use for anyone needing help up the 2nd floor. The barista offered to help bring my baby down. Really appreciated the kind gesture. The latte with vanilla was all I needed for a pickup. I highly recommend this place and will be back!

Stopped in on a rainy Sunday morning. Place was quiet, mostly empty. The cashier was excellent at giving us recommendations for our first visit. My girlfriend had a honey-cinnamon latte and I had a specialty cortado. But were excellent, contended with Elemental and Clarity for best we've had in the city so far. Service was very friendly, and the place was chill. The pastries we had with our coffees were also excellent. We'll be back sometime for sure!

We signed up for their coffee club and of the six bags we received we have only received three different kinds of coffee, we received the same roast three times! Is it that hard to create a sampling system where the customer actually gets different samples?! When we tried to cancel we were forced into another delivery, even after calling and emailing our displeasure. Finally, of the three kinds we have received, none of them are drinkable! Stick to Black Rifle if you want drinkable coffee and good service

Prelude is nothing short of phenomenal. In OKC for a work trip and I always try to seek out the best coffee roasters in the city. I asked for my latte to be remade as the espresso was slightly under-extracted to me. They had just opened so it was possible they weren't fully dialed in yet. Abby, the barista, happily remade my latte and the difference was night and day. It was spot on the second time around. She also recommended several outstanding restaurants in the area for me to try during my trip. If you're looking for top-notch espresso, you won’t be disappointed. However, note that there are few outlets available if you're planning to work here for an extended period of time. I would've taken a second latte to go but I wanted to try other places during my short time in OKC.

Very good coffee! Passing through OKC and glad we tried it out. This is a must if you’re looking for good, local coffee.

This place is more about books and anything else than coffee. “Baristas” don’t even know how to differentiate a flat white from a cappuccino. Even though it was cleared up by management, they made a disparaging comment about a drink I ordered to someone else right after I ordered it. I was told by management this was not in reference to me, but whatever. Just about any place can make coffee on these peoples level. Their cutesy modern hipster aesthetic is about the only thing they have going for them

Pricey but good coffee. Great, clean place to study if you enjoy quiet modern spaces. It is located inside a small market center with plants inside! Cute photo ops for sure.

Loved the cool decor and loved the drip coffee. Very nice and quite place to enjoy some good coffee and spend time reading a book. Between they do have a decent collection books that they offer for reading pleasure and spend an hour or two. Definitely recommend this place.
