*Edit located at the bottom* I went to CRC for the first time yesterday. The storefront was clean and professional. They had a fair selection of coral and in many colors that are a little harder to come by. The gentleman behind the counter seemed to be pretty knowledgeable. I purchased a frag of clove polyps that were rather vibrant. The gentleman behind the counter cut me a frag on site, which was pretty neat as most stores do not do that. I was a little disappointed that my frag of clove polyps was $50; I found it a little expensive and would have expected to pay less based of other former purchases elsewhere. This being said, nobody forced me to purchase here, I could have easily walked away. Unfortunately, the clove polyps did not make it. This was the first frag I’ve purchased from a LFS that didn’t make it through the dip/acclimation process. I am no expert, however I do feel that I am a reasonably-seasoned reefer. Was there any store negligence on their part? Most likely not. I was just a bit disappointed that I feel like I threw $50 away, and it made for a first impression wasnt what I hoped for when considering the reputation that this store has among the reef-community. To be clear, it wasn’t that I had a bad experience here, I just didn’t have the experience that matches the reputation that follows this store. Edit: Bill (store owner) responded to this review. And left his email. I went ahead contacted him via email (admittedly should have been my first action). Bill responded very quickly and seemed to be very willing to educate and accommodate. Further, Bill didn’t make a band-aid response and just try to throw something free/discounted at me. He was more focused on finding the source of the issue, and fix it on an intellectual level. I will update this review as time progresses.

Got a good yellow eye kole tang here. They quarantine for 2 weeks before selling to make sure fish doesnt carry ich or marine velvet.

Bought our 220 gallon custom tank setup here and have returned to buy many corals and fish here for it. All too quality stuff. Excellent customer support whenever we had issues.

Beautiful store. Healthy fish and coral. The owner knows everything there is to know about creating beautiful reefs, and he has great respect for all sea life and reef conservation. But, he KNOWS he knows everything, and he's confident the rest of us are idiots. If you catch him in a good mood, you're golden. If you catch him on a bad day, and he's left his people skills at home, watch out, because he'll enjoy making you feel stupid. If you can handle that, and you can get your transaction completed without getting your feelings hurt, then you've done well. Bill, I'm absolutely certain you've heard this before but I'll reiterate. It's not what you say but HOW you say it! I know the customer can't always be right, but the customer can't always be wrong,either.

Always have new and exciting stock. Take the time to quarantine fish arrivals and only put them on the sales floor when they are ready. Very knowledgeable staff that can answer any question you may have. Rachel and Bill are both awesome!

Custom Reef Creations is owned by the most knowledgeable person I've met as far as high end salt water aquariums. He is extremely caring and enthusiastic about the hobby, and when met with an equally caring and enthusiastic hobbyist he is incredibly helpful. He has gone above and beyond for both myself and many others countless times.

If you are into the saltwater hobby this is the place for you in the OKC area especially if you are looking for corals. I like the fact that they seem to be there to actually help and not just take your money. They got me into corals and now I am hooked and I will only buy my coral from this store. Great prices and great selection.

Always wonderful to go somewhere where people know what they're doing and are not just trying to drain your pocket. They care about their fish! Starting my first saltwater aquarium and they have been good to me every step of the way, helping me learn and are always there to talk me through it! Picking up my first fish tonight!!

Can't beat this place. Great looking coral priced fairly. More importantly, sustainability is central to the store's ethos; Bill's emphasis on the importance of aquaculturing and captive coral fragging (as opposed to wild collection) is in step with the future of reefkeeping and the preservation of the world's coral reefs. Any conscientious hobbyist should take this into consideration when choosing where to spend his or her money.
