Sankissa Stupa is an ancient Buddhist monument located in the town of Sankissa in the Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The stupa is believed to be the spot where Lord Buddha descended from heaven after delivering a sermon to his mother, who had passed away. When I visited the Sankissa Stupa, I was struck by its serene and peaceful surroundings. The stupa is surrounded by lush greenery and the sound of chirping birds, which adds to the overall tranquility of the place. The stupa itself is a magnificent structure that towers over the surrounding landscape. The stupa is said to be more than 2,000 years old and has undergone several renovations and restorations over the centuries. The intricate carvings and designs on the stupa are a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the ancient artisans who built it. As I walked around the stupa, I felt a sense of calm and serenity wash over me. The peaceful surroundings and the spiritual significance of the place make it a popular destination for Buddhist pilgrims and tourists alike. Overall, my visit to the Sankissa Stupa was a memorable and enriching experience. It is a place where one can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with one's spiritual side. I would highly recommend a visit to this ancient monument to anyone who is looking for a peaceful and spiritual experience.

Very very nice place to visit.........This temple exists even today and the ruins of the stupa are also present as a temple of Vishari Devi. It is said that the name Visahari Devi is given to the mother of the Buddha.............The most important attraction of Sankisa is a Buddha temple situated at the spot where the Lord Buddha descended after his stay in the Tushita heaven. The temple houses a statue of the Buddha. Sankisa is also mentioned in the ancient epic Ramayana.

This is important place for all Buddhists from all over the world. This place is prominent for many reasons. The Lord Buddha's departure and arrival from "Thawathinsa" to meet his mother happened from here. Mahinda thero went to Sri Lanka in 3rd century BC from here and many more important incidents were taken place here. These ancient important sites are left to destroy. No any conservation work is ongoing while only board displayed mentioning this place is a protected monument. There are many evidences for damages done by treasure hunters. This is a Buddhist stupa however many other religious activities are taking place on top of the pagoda.

The place where Mauryan Elephant capital was discovered. Nearly every person in India knows about the Mauryan Lion capital but most of them are unaware about the fact that such capital were also constructed by Ashoka. Also the Archaeological Survey of India has no time to excavate and develop this sacred place but instead they have all the time to look after that Taj Mahal and all. Shame on them!

This is the last place for our Pilgrimage trip, this place was believed as the point where Lord Buddha descended from Heaven after Taught Abhidhamma for 3 months. we climbed a little hills and chanted sutta, also pay respect to small shrine there contains the Local Goddess statue there. this area also have so many wild peacocks and Field of Mustard flowers besides the place.

It is a stupa of historical and minority religion significance and rightly protected by Archeological Survey of India because apparently there are hidden treasures in and around it, so obviously the govt would protect the LAND for riches it hold.. BUT it being a Buddhist stupa, the idol on top of it is covered in mata ki chundri, teeka, Jai Mata di flag, choodi, etc.. a full intend and action to capture it just like the Mughals did to jain Buddhist and Hindu sites.. there is no difference between them and capturing a Buddhist site this way. It is a shame on ASI.
