I’ve been coming to rainbow city pretty much since it opened. Before it was a larger warehouse, it was a really cute close knit small little space that exhibited peace love unity respect and felt like everyone there was family. Over the years I’ve gotten to see it blossom and bloom into something bigger, offering up more events to local artists and a place to dance and hang out with like-minded people. This is why I’m so deeply saddened to say that it has drastically gone downhill as of late. Although it can be very new and exciting and phenomenal for those who have just found this place, those who have been long time goers, it just seems more like a disappointment now. I’m not really sure what happened or why they’ve been acting this way, but those running this new warehouse have been extremely rude. There’s tons of new faces and of course the owner herself, that just don’t exude the love that they used to. Everyone has been extremely rude and puts off the energy that they’re sick and tired of running the place or that they are just unhappy that there are so many people there. Even one of the bartenders was telling me how much he hated being there and is tired of “this new crowd” It makes me so sad because rainbow city used to be such a safe space for me and my friends. It always felt right going there but it just seems like the crowd is changing and the way it’s being run is also changing. I feel more love at the North warehouse or 45 E., which is crazy to say. I guess I’m just bummed out and as much as I hate to say it, I will not be returning to rainbow city. The way strawberry pickle has been acting as completely turned me off and she’s not the only one that makes me feel like a burden for being there. I want the old rainbow city back.

This place is so cool! Definitely worth the trip/time to come here for a night! Reminds me of Other World in Columbus ohio. Soo neat!

Safe vibes with the local community. Great exposure to local artists and one of the best opportunities to dance. Honestly one of my girlfriend and I's favorite local dance place due to how carefree and fun it is.

Sweet and helpful staff! Great venue with multilevel setup, cozy and spread out seating, great lighting, djs, and atmosphere. The best part is the sweet fluffy calico by the name of Marilyn. 10/10 cat. The coolest cat I’ve ever met and pet. Will. Be. Back. 🖤🤩

One of those awesome underground clubs in Portland that are hard to find and worth checking out. Needs subwoofers but it's too close to apartments, and the artists they have usually makes up for it.

I LOVED TO DANCE HERE!! many said I was the star of the show that night. Very first rave and honestly fell in love. Once you get relaxed into the scene of it all I couldnt imagine leaving if it were open all night lol. Great place.

This venue has really turned around recently. I gave it another chance recently because one of my friends did. He had previously booked an event or two there and it wasn't all that pleasant. Someone different has taken over and the whole experience is so positive now. The place looks cleaner. It's set up beautifully. The underground art scene vibe is still live and strong. WOW. It's really an inspiring place and I hope Portland takes advantage of it and keeps the doors open for as long as possible. It can host all kinds of things. Multi-genre music events, photo shoots, vendors of art or other wares, community gatherings (I could see LQBTQ events or BDSM events). They have recently hosted a drag show and a photo shoot. This place is versatile, fun, fairly priced, some weekdays are even free to book, I think. I want to see more events here! Make it happen! 🌈✨

I have to tell you guys this, first time ever going to this place I mess around and leave my credit card at home whilst i did bring a wallet, lol, the owner of this beautiful place notice my destress as i was giong to pay for more than myself this evening, took it apon herself to take care of me and my crew for the evening, without any plea from me, if you miss out on this place and its beautiful owner, you not have been to Downtown PDX, thank you Rainbow City, we will return with more friends. BYW, i love that upstair area with the projector....

Fun venue with a super open and accepting atmosphere that holds a variety of events including dubstep, rap, house, happy hardcore, D&B and more. Plus, they have a very friendly cat.

A great place to go if you want to go out and actually have room to dance to the music and have fun. They have some of the best shows in town for a wide variety of genres other venues dont see a lot, lots of hardcore, dnb, break core and of course the dubstep and house PDX loves so much.

Good vibes 🤙 Never had a bad experience here. They could benefit from a better (more reliable) Point of Sale at the door and at the bar, also bigger selection of liquor would be nice. Bathrooms also need improvement, this space is still pretty new so I'm sure it'll improve in time.

This is a fantastic venue! Black light reactive decor, awesome people, and not too much sound system makes this place pretty close to perfect ❤️

Don't worry about that only one star rating and review down there. The person who wrote it was unhappy. I might also know that person who rated it one star and if I do, I know that their review was written from a misunderstanding. Without Rainbow City I wouldn't be as far ahead as I am now. Strawberry Pickle is the one who convinced me to run my own blacklight reactive print shop from home and I put Rainbow City artwork on many different types of products. I give some of the sales income back to Rainbow City and other small businesses/artists. I also wouldn't have nearly as many well known connections as I do now if I hadn't started as a vendor at Rainbow City the day after Christmas in 2020. I've been taking a break for awhile, but I'm about to put arts and crafts back in the new Rainbow City location when they are ready for me, since I know that it's a money maker. In 2021, Rainbow City helped me make over $10,000 in sales just from their venue. It was the first year I made a profit from my handmade business after trying so hard for almost exactly a decade.
