The only reason I gave 1 star was so I could leave a comment. The outside and the building itself look great, inside is a totally different story. This place is unorganized, mismanaged, and administered poorly. I’m so grateful I was able to leave and didn’t have to spend the night. I felt safer locked outside in a hospital gown waiting for a doctor to arrive, than waiting inside where I’d potentially be inside, locked inside a room and having the only key being lost by the people ‘in charge’ who I wouldn’t let operate a soft-serve ice cream machine. This was the first time I can remember actually being afraid for my own safety. My prior experiences with Pierce County medical facilities have at least ‘acted’ like they had a fiduciary duty to their patients/clients. This place needs some reorganization..the folks that checked me in disappeared behind the door once I stepped through ..it was a whole new world. It was hell. How is this place being funded? Who’s doing the hiring? Is there an employment contract? Who’s doing the negotiating, Teamsters Local 117? If so, you guys missed the mark once again, you should not be negotiating with peoples lives. This place is not a good place, unless you want some dazed nurse administering Thorazine every 4 hours..I felt like I was on the set of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest..the nurse even looked like Rached.

I was told to call and maybe go in to get help and medication and maybe stay if I needed it. After two minutes on the phone I was told you can come in but you won't have a bed and you won't see a doctor for three days. Nothing polite about the way it was put either. Like if I were to offer myself right now would mean nothing to them. They don't care if you're alive or dead all they care about is getting a paycheck

GOD BLESS THEM

What I witnessed was staff members losing there tempers to the point that they would tell patients "we can go outside" (meaning they would fight them). They tried to physically force a homeless man outside when they believed he was faking his mental disability. When I asked about possibly learning new coping skills or having group.. I was literally thrown a piece of paper titled ""99 Coping Skills" and he replies "there's your coping skills." I would ask sinple questions and be given rude run responses which the director herself had heard, but did nothing to correct. I've talked to the director because believe it or not , I believe she has the power to change things. To have an engaging and kind staff. To have groups that help those with mental disabilities get by in the real world. I would LOVE to see this place get turned around ..but for right now..it's horrible.
