The system only gave me 5 stars but I'd give it 7 stars out of 5 at least. My family kept looking around for a place to eat after an afternoon hiking at Mt. Rainer on vacation (from Chicago) and thank God Duke's down the street was a 90mins wait cause this was probably better anyways. I was between a boring bacon burger and the salmon burger. I had the salmon burger and it's the best seafood I've had in WA all trip long. My sister had the same. My mom had the grilled salmon dish and was raving about its impeccable taste. My one regret was only getting a cup not a bowl of the clam chowder. Sitting outside was really nice, and the staff was friendly and attentive to our table. Even if you're not a tourist, go here!!! Among our 20 years of family vacations; Katie's Down Waterfront will go down as a legend

We were served by Mary and my word was she a wonderful waitress. We ordered soup and sandwiches they tasted wonderful. The drinks here are pretty cheap for the area. The view on the water is stunning and they have heaters from outside seating.

Lovely view and a great casual restaurant! Went for a work lunch and had a great, classic Cobb salad. Can't wait to come back to try the pizza!

The restaurant is very well located and amazing views and cozy spot on the water. My boyfriend loved the pizza and was tasty, and the fries were really good but the deluxe nachos were really over cooked. And not tasty at all. They need to know how to make deluxe nachos of you are going to charge that much ($19) and extra for meat? No beans or pico de gallo... really disappointed. And one of the heaters were not working as well and it was a chilli night. That's why I give 3 stars. There is still room to improve.

Excellent service, excellent food, pretty views UPDATE JULY 17TH, last time was during covid with limited menu and space. Today good menu, a bit pricey. I had the southwest salad with prawns, my husband had the Asian crunch salad. Over $50.00 for 2 salads, they charge a 3.5% surcharge also.

Worth the stop. We come here when we have to take the long way from PA to Seattle. Good food and an even better view!

Got a cheeseburger with steak fries, and asked for the burger to be medium rare but got it without any pink. The steak fries are supposed to be seasoned according to the menu but they didn’t have much taste to them and was obvious there wasn’t any seasoning. I know that prices are up everywhere we eat, but it definitely felt overpriced based on the quality of food. Everything is over $20, (burger $22).It does have a nice atmosphere inside and out, so that’s what it mainly felt like the price was for. No complaints on service, it was great and appreciated that. Would like to go back, eat outside again and the try the pizza.

What a lovely night out. We sat on the deck and had a beautiful view. The food was fabulous, I totally forgot to take a photo of it. I got the my pie deep dish personal pizza and my husband got the guacamole burger. Food was reasonably priced, we each had a couple of beers and shared an appetizer. If you are looking for a great waterfront destination especially with family or friends from out of town I recommend coming here. It is 21+ so come without the kiddos for a fun night out!

I enjoy sitting out on their deck, the staff there are always so kind, the atmosphere makes you comfortable and want to come back. The clams are always awesome! They have two Doves that hang out on their deck that are adorable and entertaining, loved watching them.

I LOVE this place. When my grandmother was still with us, she would love coming down to Katie Downs for pizza, steamer class and a martini. I recently took a friend of mine here on a perfect day. We sat on the deck 🥰 service was so delightful and kind. The food and drinks were fantastic 😋 prices are a bit high but worth it for the experience. I ordered the Cioppino 🤤😋 and Florescence Drop. I was able to purchase a signature martini shaker as well. We also ordered the Mexican pizza.

Katie Downs used to be self-serve mostly so I'm thrilled that you can be waited on. That change has been in place for years but I still appreciate it. The drinks are a great deal when compared to Seattle prices. The food isn't cheap but the portions are generous. All-in-all, if you want to go for a nice sound view without breaking the back, Katie Downs is your place!

This is one of Tacoma’s Jewels. A nice place to go if you’re on a date. The waterfront view is just what’s required when you need that one aesthetic while getting to know someone new.

Always good. Nice selection of beers. Couldn't decide between fish/ shrimp tacos, so they let me do one of each (both were delicious). My wife enjoyed her bacon cheeseburger ( we will get the relish on the side next time as it was "generously" applied.) Server was great, and can't beat the view.

Went tonight with family from out of town was seated and greeted quite nicely. The fantastic view of the sound is always mesmerizing, ordered the steamed clams as an app and drinks the waitress Hillary was quick witted and charming. The beer seemed very fresh and the cocktail my fiance got was just like the usual "mermaid water". But what I was excited to finally try was their pizza, after being told so highly of it. We got the Sicilian and the fearless deep dish 12'' pizzas, and when I say that 12'' is a monster of cheese and meat with a decent sprinkle of healthy veggies it was a lot to tackle. The garlic was a little much for me in the fearless but the Sicilian was by far the best. The sauce shined and complements the sauce perfectly, the mushrooms and olive add a good balance of brine and earthy flavors to complement the cheese. It was overall some of the best pizza I've had in awhile. Hillary was nice and gave us plenty of samples of the beers on tap and answered/engaged with us that had us laughing and making the loss of two grandmas in a week seem much brighter. "Like a breath of fresh air" saying. I definitely recommend getting the Sicilian deep dish and the clams. Just save room for the awesome drinks and beer. Thanks Hillary

Nice water front view, good pizza and good drinks. I don't understand the cheap plastic chairs for the outside tables. The wait staff was nice. The only other unfortunate item was smelling the Tacoma aroma during our visit.

My first time there. It was right at dinner time, both inside and outside dining areas were pretty busy, but the hostess found us seating for 2 right away. Pretty decent menu with a lot to choose from, decently priced for seafood and a restaurant that's waterfront. The staff were all super friendly. Overall, wonderful experience, thank you all!

First time out in this area and I was impressed. It was cool and sunny out so that made for a good walk on the main drag. Then we came across this place with intentions set on The Ram. Even though it was nice out we sat inside next to windows. The server was Nice and she made suggestions which are always nice for someone who likes to be sold on things. Beer selection was ok with a few crafts and the norm on local brews. Overall good experience and we will be back one day soon!

I have always loved Katie Downs on the waterfront in Tacoma so it pains me that i can't give 5 stars, I do take into consideration when a restaurant is fully packed services tend to be a little slower & wait staff can get kinda stressed, that didn't seem to be a issue, food was hot & good served fast, the problem was customer care overall. The attitude from multiple waitstaff for asking any questions was kinda snotty attitude answered. Women's restroom trash overflowing & out of toilet paper, making them aware the restrooms needed attention immediately almost got me a eye roll that I quickly averted my eyes elsewhere. Disappointed in staffs lack of care & less then ugg attitude. Other then that it was great!

Two 32oz beers @$18ea and a 12" "deep dish" white pizza (they forgot the chicken) @$39. Beer was good. The pizza is far from deep dish and was a mess. $100 after tip... Way overpriced for the raves. We added pineapple and onion. The waitress said she would remove both of those charges and give a credit for the chicken. She did not credit the chicken. She also asked if they needed to remake the pizza. It was nice to ask, but if you have to ask, why even charge for the mistake? Such a small mistake speaks volumes. We do not come here often and that will remain the norm for us.

Food was really good, service was friendly and fast, the atmosphere was pleasant. We actually saw a seal swimming around in the water which was cool. I wish the outdoor seats were more comfortable. They are just white plastic lawn chairs. Otherwise I cannot complain!

My husband and I dined here while on vacation and were a bit disappointed in the food. Given the prices, we expected better than pub fare however that is what we received. $10 for a starter salad and my husband had fish and chips which came with two small pieces of fish. Our server was busy but attentive and Katie's is waterfront hence the attraction and I'm assuming prices. It's busy and loud.

Even though halibut is on the menu, it's not available as a fish & chips option as it it used to be. So I forked out the $38 for the grilled halibut and the piece they gave me literally measured 1.25"x4". The green salad I ordered as one of the sides was made entirely of arugula, which I can't stand. The only good part of the experience was that most of the staff were great; unfortunately not our server, who spent most of her time chatting with other staff. I have been a KD customer for more than 15 years but no longer. There are better places to spend that kind of money.

Started cruising my 72 Cougar Convertible by here in 1982 when they opened. Great place to meet friends on the waterfront. Pizzas are thick crust excellent but very spendy. Service is generally friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is awesome. It used to be packed until late on the weekends, but now, post C19, they're done by 10pm. Not sure how they stay in business as the sign above the door says, "You must be 21 to enter." I'm way above 21, and so are the many others dining there, so I'm glad they don't seem to enforce the "only 21" rule. Fun spot if you've got time to splurge on great pizza!

The best thing about this restaurant is the view of Puget Sound. The food is overpriced at $30 for a two-piece fish and chips and $35 for a three-piece. The fish was thin and dry and the beer batter was very greasy. The coleslaw was totally tasteless. Vinegar, sweetener, etc. would benefit that salad tremendously. I really do like seasoned steak fries but these needed more seasoning. I ordered a coffee nudge from the bar and it came tepid in temperature. They did remake it and it came back hot. The dessert was free for my birthday and I chose the chocolate peanut butter cake, which was actually more like a tort than cake texture, $14 for one slice. Very yummy! About $100 with tip for two people. For that price, I expect everything to be delicious. So, I won't be going back.

Really, really fast service, good beer selection, and solid food. The Fish and chips are delicious and unpretentious, just as they should be. They give me malt vinegar without me having to ask. Five stars across the board.
