Fabulous food and great service. We thoroughly enjoyed the eggs benedict and classic breakfast. Highly recommend their biscuits and pancakes which are so well made. Had good burgers here too and excellent fries. The restaurant has a long and interesting history as well as a great atmosphere which makes you feel like you're stepping back in time.

Cute place with lots of interesting details. Service was slow, but maybe it's because we were a big party. The music was too loud - hard to hear anyone more than 2 chairs away because of this. The food was marginal - a thin Reuben for the astronomical price of $21! I've had better at Arby's. The bottom of this sandwich was soggy and the bread was borderline burnt. I won't waste my time going here again.

I so wanted to love my food, I ordered the Schnueben Sandwich which would have been great if the bread wasn't absolutely burnt. The rest of our food was good, large portions, and great atmosphere.

The atmosphere! Very cozy, private feel, and beautiful with wrought iron, plants, books, and gorgeous nook sofa at the front for larger party of people. Service was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Food was quality and delicious with great prices! Love this place. Everything fresh. The cider and beer I tried were very good not too sweet! Our server Emillie S. was amazing!!!!!

I really enjoyed the decor, staff, and the food was amazing. I would 100% recommended. Especially their garlic fries with the aioli. They have a pool table which is a great idea for a night out with friends. A really great place I will definitely be going here again.

First time here and am pretty pleased with the quality for the price, you can definitely spend quite a bit more and get a lot less. I had the salmon eggs Benedict and would highly recommend. Not too crowded and no long wait times for a Sunday morning.

I am a big fan of McMenamins establishments. This is my first time the Spar Cafe. It was excellent. Great team, great food, great atmosphere.

Went to McMenamins for breakfast. They had decent breakfast options and a few two-person outdoor tables. Inside there was a pool table, bar, and ample seating. Service was excellent and relatively quick.

We went here and thought we would be getting lunch. We were informed after we were sat that lunch doesn't start until 1. I looked up the menus prior to going online and this was not stated anywhere. As a person who eats mostly plant based I was extremely disappointed as the vegan options for breakfast were extremely slim. I decided to get eggs because I don't like sweet things and I wanted more than potatoes and sausage (the only vegan options other than oatmeal). There were parts of the yolk in my scrambled eggs that looked like they had been soft boiled. While we were eating we heard the host tell people there would be a 40 minute wait so they can turn the kitchen over to serve lunch. Which would be fine, if advertised. Our server was slow and preoccupied with other things. She disappeared and we ended up waiting awhile multiple times (she was not helping other tables during this time). I was pretty disappointed. We decided to come here because of the vegan options offered on their lunch/dinner menu. The decor was cool. Not sure if I will be back to try their dinner menu or not as this visit left a sour taste.

Great food, better service in a historic setting with true period pieces to get you in a nostalgic mood. Family-owned by the McMenamin brothers this cafe in Olympia serves tasty drinks that help take you back in time to a friendlier time. Stop by for a burger or just a drink and don’t forget to check the dessert menu.

The food is great, with great service. The waitress was very helpful and made sure we were doing good and if we needed anything. The biscuits had been amazing and filling. Love the atmosphere. Definitely coming back. Going to try the chicken fried steak. Until next time.....

Stopped in for a later supper after getting a tattoo across the street. Wasn’t too busy so speedy, friendly service. Menu is slim but we both found something. The fondue is crave-able, bacon cheese burger is good but I wasn’t a fan of the sauce, fries are average. Would return for the fondue.

A really nice place for food, and games, or both. Food: 10/10 They have great variety, a happy hour, and some very talented cooks. We tried the Regular Burger and the Tater Tots. Atmosphere:9/10 A dive bar/whiskey sipping room vibe. Honestly it was great! Not too noisy or crowded. Though I'll say it might be a little busy for some people who just wanna relax and have a quiet dinner. Games: 10/10 They have Shuffleboard, Pool, and a couple pin ball machines (Tron Legacy and X-Men themed). Really has something for everyone. Drinks: 10/10 They have the normal selection any bar should have, but many custom and seasonal ones too. They also brew their own beer and ciders. Tried the Blackberry Cider and it was excellent. Overall really like this place. I'll be back!

My favorite spot for Brunch in Olympia so I’m a little biased. Got here after 1pm today so brunch is over, but I got a pic of the lunch menu. It is an old school vibe diner, not Americano metal trailer diner, but great hall with long wooden bar and booths and nooks n crannies. Staff very polite. Food is great. Highly recommend. Bonus: they observe the FIVE EASY PIECES mentality (nod to an old Jack Nicholson film): it wasn’t brunch, but since they served a steak on the lunch menu and eggs on a burger, they made me steak & eggs. Gotta love it.

The atmosphere is cool. But that is about where this place ends. The Pizza was not good. The first slice was a struggle to eat because the cheese and topping came right off because the point of the pizza was very floppy. Maybe switch to square cuts, or it could have been over-proofed dough. Either wasn't worth $20 for a pizza for one. Service was okay. She was friendly but not attentive.

such an amazing atmosphere inside, no wonder the place is so popular! staff was so kind and welcoming, food was tasty and the overall experience just brought a lot of joy for us. at first we thought that the prices were a bit on the higher end but once i saw my rice bowl the size of my head i realised that it was more than justified. and my dad absolutely loved his pepperoni pizza. 10/10

Absolutely incredible lil gem. Love the older diner vibe. Burgers are large, and rice bowl is so outta place, but so well executed. Wish I had ordered one too, but with the large portion sizes, there is more for later

The food was yummy, but a little expensive for the portion size. Our waitress was nice but was so busy we didn't see her much. We sat down at 10:20am on a Wednesday for breakfast. The restaurant was at about 1/2 capacity and it took 50mins to get our food (2 people). The atmosphere was the best thing about the restaurant.

Great breakfast place when in downtown Olympia. It is located about a mile away from the Farmer’s Market. Great food and great service! Below is the Baja burrito and the Simpson’s plate.

Spur of the moment decision to go out to breakfast with my friend. It's been a long time since I've been out for breakfast and I'm glad we decided on McMenamins or the Spar as I still call it. I even stepped out of my comfort zone and tried my friends dish. The servers were super nice and the environment is funky and fun. Super cozy seating and atmosphere. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was super filling, I only ate half of it. If you go at lunch or dinner I recommend the Cajun tator tots, delicious!

Food was fresh and tasty. I ordered the sweet potato salad and a cup of chicken sausage bisque. The portions were generous and the staff was very polite and cheerful.

Okay, I just went the other night with my Dad for a little daddy-daughter date and it was absolutely AMAZING!!! The food was EXCELLENT, their truffle fries being the best fries I have EVER had!!! The service was phenomenal! Our server was the kindest, she was helping in every way, we didn’t have to wait too long for food and she would come over and have easy and great conversations with us whilst we were waiting, her vibes were immaculate! She was amazing!!! The atmosphere was really great and super welcoming! The staff were saying “hi” and “hello” right as we got in and were very friendly! It was very beautiful inside and even had a somewhat arcade room in the back! It was amazing, and I would go there a THOUSAND TIMES MORE!!! Wow!!!

I've been to Spar several times. Very much the McMenamins vibe you expect. Sat at the family bar (think breakfast counter), not adult bar (with the impenetrable 4' barrier), for happy hour. Very chill on a Monday afternoon, which was perfect for catching up with my friend. Great staff, per usual McMenamins quality. For some reason, I expected more of an "in house cocktail" menu, but there were only 5 or 6. Happy hour menu was a good selection. Since happy hour has only been back in my rotation a month or so, I'm not sure if the food/drink prices are on par with other spots. However, since food and everything is a bit pricey than before, I expect this is the same as everywhere. The 6 arms salad with steak is a meal portion.

Jen (the manager) was our server and she was absolutely phenomenal! Food was incredibly delicious and the service was the best I’ve had in a long time! Will definitely be back (:

Love the yesteryear atmosphere!! Had the dungeon burger and side salad, it was delicious! No hard cider this time but was tempted when I saw there was a blackberry one... Next time if it's still available.

The food was good. The drinks a bit strong. They did start seating people right next to each other all in one section… even though it wasn’t busy. I’d prefer it was every other seat due to COIVD. But not a huge deal. The waitress checked on us a little too frequently… but annoying but rather that then rarely checking in on us. I think she was just board. Bathrooms were clean. I only 5 star when places go above and beyond… I’d come here again. Definitely has the individual McMenamins vibe. Worth a try.
