Very slow for a Thursday. Just a small dive bar when you walk in. Doors opened at 9 that led you to the back portion of the bar where karaoke was. There were a couple of unmanned bars and it looked like it could handle a big crowd. The sound system was fantastic though. I was only there for about 90 min, but I enjoyed the people who sang and Heather the KJ was great. Worth visiting if you like dive bars and karaoke. (Didn't try the food, but they have normal bar food)

Been here a couple times. Great bar, but very aggressive back door bouncer. I was there for hours having a good time ( even got a mystery coffee gift card from their vending machine!) I went out the exit to see that my friend got in her lyft safely. Upon trying to enter again, I had the back door bouncer with a pony tail get in my face and yell at me to leave. I understand needing to verify I was old enough to be in the bar ( I am a bartender, I get it). However, there is a professional way to go about it. Yelling in my face unprovoked while I ask you to back up is not it. Makes me feel unsafe to return. I was not that drunk, you don't need to scream in my face as if I am a child in order to intimidate me. I am a 110 pound woman, obviously not a threat to your establishment. We saw the same bouncer shoulder checking other woman earlier in the night to, " get out of their way". I don't understand how that is an appropriate response from a bouncer, so watch out.

Karaoke was fun but it did take a really long time to get our songs up there inspite of it being a not so busy Tuesday. Place can be really loud. The jello shots had no alcohol in them at all did not taste any alcohol in any of the welcome jello shots. A couple other cocktails we ordered were also watered down so dint really enjoy the drinks as much either. Atmosphere is good if you want to have some fun doing karaoke but be prepared to wait for a really long time to get your song played. Another point to note this place is cash only when we went.

Great dive bar, very affordable! Karaoke is six days a week from 9 pm to close. Great staff, drinks, and food. They have food specials, which are usually the best thing on the menu. It is very LGBTQIA+ and women friendly. At least half the staff are women or LGBTQIA+. The security is great and they don’t put up with bullying. There is a sense of community for those you want to go and sing regularly. Highly recommend.

I'm a Brazilian traveler who spent about 8 months living in Olympia last year, and let me tell you, the Clipper is where the magic happens! No place on Earth hooked me up with friends like this joint did—it's practically my second home. The crew at the Clipper? Super friendly, like, the friendliest folks you'll ever meet in any bar. And let's talk about their karaoke hosts—they're hands down the coolest in Washington and maybe even the whole wide world. I've swung by three times since leaving Olympia, and each time, it's a blast at the Clipper. Oh, and if you're LGBTQ+, this place is totally chill. No vibes of exclusion here—everyone's welcome. I always felt safe, too. Bartenders got your back, even had an ex go nuts on me once (seriously, she's a bit crazy), and the Clipper staff had me covered. They even kicked her out, major props! I can't express enough love for this spot, and I'm pumped to bring my Brazilian buddies for a good time. And seriously, don't forget to grab a Jell-O shot—it's a game-changer! 🎉

Don't generally go downtown but stopped in to see my son sing. Very busy, but the bartender was right on top of things. Great drinks & they even have my favorite tequila (dobel) that no one ever carries. Didn't have food because we had just been to dinner.

Definitely favoritism in who gets to sing. Been here a few times now and they let you sing the first song after a short wait, but any other song takes 2-3 hours. Might as well leave after singing one.

I really like this bar, always have a great time here. My issue is with the smoking area bouncer working Saturday night. They were aggressive with multiple customers and it made me feel a little unsafe. I saw them shoulder check a woman to get her out of their way, also saw them get in another woman's face and shout at them. Seemed like an intimidation tactic to me. Almost as if they were trying to start a fight. Not cool. Again, this is a super fun bar - I just think something like this should be addressed by the owners.

I went there many times and I didn't even know they served "chinese food." I ordered food here once and could tell it was done by the audible ding of the microwave. Whoops. The karaoke in front in mostly regulars trying really hard, but also can be just funny drunk people depending on the night. The bar in back has the mission to give you alcohol poisoning. I usually order a rum and diet coke because I can't handle all the sugar, but here it doesn't matter because I got a glass of hard liquor and a splash of soda. No, your date wasn't roofied, they just had two drinks at the Clipper. This place is a 1, 3 and 5 star. It just depends on what your goal is by going here.

I went in for a couple drinks with friends, the staff and the regulars there are super friendly. and the bar was very welcoming to people of the lgbtq community.

Wow, cutting edge sound system and i suspect some of the singers were pro's because a lot of them sounded like it. This place has always had strong drinks and they still do!

An easy going type of place, ya dig. Bring cash as that's the only method of payment they take. Want a beer with a friend this is the place.

It’s a fun time, just get there early Because karaoke ends at 1:20am and er’body and their mom has requested their song hours in advanced.

They have karaoke 🎤 every night. The establishment definitely has seen it's better days. Definitely run down bar. The staff wasn't so friendly at this location. Also remember CASH ONLY.

If you love kareoke and an alternative atmosphere this is your place to go. You find all kinds of people here. Everyone is so friendly and supportive! The staff are awesome as well as caring. One of my go to places and the first stop of my night everytime I go bar hopping.

By far one of my favorites in the area I consider everyone there as family. Make sure to tip the bartenders and don't forget to tip the karaoke DJ....

Thier employees are so friendly are so very kind their. I loves this place and so does my dog they are always so kind and open and loving towards my dog which is very important to me. Thank you again for everything yallz ever do... keep being awesome! Yall rock!

We love doing karaoke at the clipper. They also pour the drinks strong here so it's a go to if you like karaoke and dove bars.

Went to karaoke on Sunday. Subpar sounds system and the dj claims she can't turn up the mics. Could barely hear myself or my family sing. But, you could hear regulars loud and clear! Karaoke host was calling singers dumb a$$es while they were walking up to the stage. And would take money bribes to have singers get bumped up in the rotation. Karaoke host would split up groups and put 15 new singers in between tables of ppl that came together. Horrible. Horrible. The only thing that was good was the environment felt safe for all humans. That's it. Over priced drinks and no food either and no debit card or credit card transactions.

Fun bar and atmosphere! Has great dive bar vibes and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Drinks are good and decent price.

It's a "hole in the wall" bar that has quick service, reasonable prices, bouncers that verify ID before entering, and staff that ensure you get what you pay for but won't overserve anybody. Located within walking range of convenience stores, restaurants, and plenty of after-hour parking.

So I originally gave this place 4 stars for being overall good, but the more I go back, the better it gets. Karaoke is always fun. The culture of the place takes safety seriously. The layout is both open and visible, but still has spaces that feel less out in the open without losing line of sight from everyone.

A friend brought me here a couple of months ago and I fell in love with the place right away. I wish I didn't live so far away, but it makes for a special treat when we make it to Olympia! Fun atmosphere, great bartenders and friendly vibes!

I always feel welcome at The Clipper! They have specialty liquors you can't find everywhere, for good prices. The staff is always friendly and fast! This is the best sound for a karaoke bar I've ever heard. The karaoke hosts are friendly and encouraging. It's the prefect place to try singing for the first time. Some of the regulars are really good too! It's just a fun place to be. It's an original Olympia favorite for good reason. It's also one of the only places for late night snacks.

I have been going to the clipper for 8 years. It used to feel like home. Unfortunately the environment has become toxic. The drinks are practically full of alcohol.over serve much?Staff have messy dalliances with regulars and allow their partners to harass the person they strayed with. Their are consistent drug deals happening. Unfortunately some of the staff do illicit substances also. The only good staff are Dryte, Tyler, Russ, Jasmine,Bobby, Luke, Chris and Dalton. I recommend being very careful here. However the food is great! If you have an issue only go to these staff as they will make sure they do what they can to keep you safe.

This place should not opened still. First off the atmosphere is really not welcoming to new comers. When you try to point out any hate speech you get 86d on a dime. This place IS NOT LGBTQIA friendly. There are soo many other bars that do it better. Certain karaoke hosts play favorites and if you are not in their clique then Goodluck getting a song in. The main bartender over serves which is a huge issue.
