In
the
Midwestern
US
there
are
tons
of
places
like
this:
where
mature
people
go
in
the
morning
to
drink
coffee
and
tell
predictable
jokes.
This
is
the
first
one
I've
discovered
in
West
Olympia,
a
part
of
town
which
-
to
be
candid
-
does
have
something
of
a
breakfast
problem.
You
can
go
over
to
Hash
(if
you
feel
like
standing
in
line
in
the
rain)
-
or
iHOP
(if
you
want
the
Full
Franchise
Experience,
the
same
everywhere
in
America),
Or
you
can
visit
O'Malley's,
where
you
will
get
special
attention:
since
I
got
the
impression
that
not
many
new
people
wander
deliberately
into
that
side
of
the
building.
A
restaurant
attached
to
a
bowling
alley
can
never
be
"the
main
event".
It's
there
in
case
you
get
hungry,
or
need
a
beer,
between
games.
So
O'Malley's
is
tiny
-
just
four
tables
plus
a
counter
-
although
I'm
guessing
you
could
get
table
service
anywhere
in
the
bar.
My
go-to
choice
for
any
new
place
is
chicken-fried
steak,
and
it
was
very
good
-
although
certainly
more
food
than
one
person
could
(or
should)
eat.
Service
was
attentive
-
because
I
was
an
unfamiliar
guest,
I
think.
Coffee
was
routinely
bad,
but
nobody
in
the
diner
business
overspends
on
coffee.
And
the
price
was
right:
much
less
than
you'd
spend
for
the
same
thing
at
iHOP.
So
O'Malley's
is
a
definite
option
for
a
diner
breakfast,
and
maybe
you
should
give
it
a
try.
