The path to the beach starts at the back of the park. Lush mossy trees lead to relatively steep wooden stairs. Across a bridge over the marsh is a sweeping flat rocky beach with a distant view of the state capital to the left. Down the beach to the right is a raised grassy area with benches with a view. You can follow a paved path back up to the top from there, but it ends in a residential area at the top with no parking.

A nice little hike down to the beach with a few routes up and down. This park is mine and my dog's favorite! There's also a playground and a few shelter houses up top and actual restrooms!

Update: Today we took a different path down to the beach - starting out at the "beach sign" to the north of the bathroom at the main loop parking. The walk down was just a little more challenging (which is what we were looking for) and still do-able. I love a place with multiple paths! Perfect 20-minute stop with the dog to stretch our legs, saunter the well-maintained paths to smell the salt air and stumble around a pebble beach. Just a few folks around, people tending their canines politely, and a muffled boat horn in the smoky air today.

Such a beautiful park! Has bathrooms and a park. Beautiful trails down to the beach which is all rocky with tons of creatures to hunt for with the kids. Saw lots of crabs!

Beautiful and scenic it's good to go in the day but not in the evening if you're going to the water due to the high tide. It's a park, walk the trails through the woods and you get to the lake, the beach area are stones and there are jellyfish in the water. A great place to bring your family and Pets. Lots of people bring thier dogs for walks here.

Really beautiful park with a nice peaceful beach. Minutes from downtown and the capital. I saw Seals, Herron and even an old sailing ship from the beach. Really well maintained.

Clean, beautiful park. Lots to do. New bathrooms!! So clean and nice. The restroom next to the playground is SO NICE. No more hiking down to the other side of the park! Trails to the beach are well maintained too.

Great park on top by the parking. It is a long walk down to the beach with big steps. If you have arthritis in your knees, do not attempt to go down to the beach. Otherwise it is a fun journey for the kids and fit adults. Be aware, the beach to the south is private. There is a sign posted at high tide. When we sat by the sign approximately everyone walking the beach did not see it. And keep on doing past the sign. Dog friendly. Keep them on leash. We let them swim we we were alone.

Wonderful park- all the things! Plenty of parking, restrooms, walking paths, hiking trails, green grassy areas, and playgrounds. My favorite was the hike to the beach. There were several paths to follow- well marked. The trail I used has lots of steps and is not handicap accessible. There is parking at the beach, too.

Right now the beach is covered in sand dollars. I like this beach over Tolmie State Park. Nice trail and a great place to bring little ones

It's truly a hidden gem in Olympia, especially in winter when high tides are frequent in the daytime. Nothing compares to a sunny day in Burfoot, with the Olympic mountains in the background and Sun in the sky. It's only 10 miles from downtown Olympia, not far from Priest Point Park which is often inaccessible to its beach during high tides. In Burfoot, you can always walk to the beach at high tides even in winter.

Easy hike down to the beach, and a nice park on the street level as well. Very little shade for the kids play area, so be careful on hot days, but the hike down to the beach is easy and very dog friendly. When we were there there were lots of dogs off leash, and our pup in training was tested, but did well. Lots of room to splash and play in the sound. No amenities down at the water level so be prepared, and remember to save some energy for the easy hike up the hill to the car. Bring sunblock in the summer!

I'll give this park 5 stars since it has several different things going for it. Nice trails, a beautiful beach, fantastic views of the water and mountains. As is the case with most parks on the water in this region your experience can be vastly different depending on the tide. We were there during an extremely low tide which gave us a lot of shore to explore.

Great place to visit especially with summer just around the corner. Flowers are in bloom, and there's plenty of greenery. Follow the well maintained trail to the beach, and you'll be met with beautiful views of Budd Inlet.

Gorgeous park. Bathrooms not the cleanest & no mirrors but can't wait to check out the beach! Trees on the trails were super interesting here.

Went to the beach access area farther down the road to the left at the T, skipping the walk down the beach from the parking lot and the playground, etc. Very nice walkable publicly-accessible path down to the beach with a picnic table and a shoreline preventing erosion.

Nice trails. And great picnic areas nice for little events. Only thing I'd like to see is much more signs leading the way to the beach.

Nice neighborhood park with playground, walking trails, restrooms, picnic tables. Rocky beach with sandy cliffs as a backdrop, and a view of the Olympic Mountains on a clear day.

Great park! Bathrooms next to parking area are being renovated but there are new bathrooms near the children's play area. Nice hiking trails. Some more difficult than others. Picnic tables and grills.

Lots of sand dollars on the beach when we went in late June. Too many really... hard not to step on them. The park could use more signage. We ended up in the neighborhood on our first attempt to get to the beach. Not good for strollers.
