Patch of grass with a statue. It's the state capital yet the park was filled with homeless people & litter. Nothing against them, but our local gov. looking at them every day & not helping. *Most of the businesses downtown are permanently closed as well so wasn't much to do.

05/13/23: I drove from Seattle to Olympia to discover what Olympia can offer. We walked downtown and enjoyed this park a lot. We got some shade from a hot day but saw many homeless people around. Hopefully, they were found and the city could have done something to resolve this painful issue. Besides, I found some old trees, benches, and ancient buildings with famous monuments. Will be back in the future

This is probably one of the oldest city parks in the area. It gets a bad rap for the amount of homeless that hang out or sleep here during the day. But c'mon, have you been to any decent sized city and walked thru the main downtown park in the daytime? Kinda how it goes in this day and time. People need rest, especially when you've been trying to just survive all night. Now, for the practical stuff. Park closes at dusk and honestly I rarely see another there past that time. After all, there really is just a Gazebo, grass, trees and bushes here. This park is best known for being the starting spot for Olympia goings on and events. Also almost always clean due to the Oly Clean Team working so hard. P. S. We live very close by and before the pandemic hit I used to walk thru here every morning about 6:30 am (often still dark) on the way to my state job and never once felt threatened or afraid. Stop blaming the homeless for everything!!!

I know we don't want the homeless to make the gazebo their home but it would be nice to hang out there. As a child, I spent a lot of time playing on the having picnics there.

Very pretty park with the beautiful old capital building. Unfortunately there were a lot of homeless people sleeping there now unlike when I have been there in the past.

Our first time exploring this city. It is a old city with many characters. We walked around downtown saw some murals around. Saw some homeless people around but felt pretty safe here. There are many restaurants, coffee shops and other stores around. Good day to explore the town!

There is small sign, "watch your step" but by the time you've read it you'd have already fallen! The very top one is slightly taller and it really catches you off guard hahaha, I tore my pants and had blood on both knees. Also saw another person fall while I was waiting in my car, they spilled their coffee (photo) I wanted to scream out, ME TOO!!! but was too far away and would look like psycho, which isn't too bad since there were already screaming people in the other corner. This park be wild... There is some great stores around there, and a nice vegan restaurant on the west side. 5/10 watch your step..

They should just call it what it is - Homeless Park #2 (Homeless Park #1 is near the bus terminal). I feel sorry for everyone at OSPI that have to deal with all that. Well, everyone except for Reykdahl.

Not a safe place anymore. Way too many homeless people taking it over. I especially would not recommend going there by yourself especially at night go with a group of people! I have nothing against homeless people but I do care about my safety. Downtown Olympia in general is just a mess and not a safe place anymore I don't even feel comfortable going there by myself. Would NOT RECOMMEND for those that are new to Olympia!

Olympia WA does not disappoint! We went out from the hotel to walk the dog and heard music . . . Orchestra music . . . Phantom of the Opera music! We walked to the park and found the amazing Music in the Park! What an amazing city! Beauty, Culture and Class! Wish we could stay!

It was nice to be in the park listening to music and not being bothered by the homeless. Who knows where they are buts it's Lakefair week, so I'm sure the city hid them.
