The view of the State Capitol building and lake from here certainly does not disappoint. Come around mid-afternoon or later for the best photos. There's free parking by the park entrance and we didn't have to wait for a spot. I noticed what I thought were homeless people as we were walking around. They kept to themselves and didn't bother anyone.

Stopped by from out of town in the winter when nothing should be happening....despite the cold, we were pleasantly surprised to see so many people out and about. Dog walkers, runners walkers etc. Beautiful view of the capital building. I can only imagine what it's like during the summer.

A wonderful park with the Capital building overshadowing it. it has serviced joggers, walkers, and site seeing for many years. Soon the lake will ebb and flow with the tidel, becoming a brackish water system of a diversity of wildlife

Love walking the lake, watching the birds and the scenery is amazing, until you get to that one spot where all the homeless people are. (Has been cleaned up for now)Other than that it's a great place to go and just watch the water/birds/sky.Bathrooms at both ends and parking 3/4 around the lake. Plenty of benches to relax and enjoy the view.

Took the Heritage park trail up to the State Capitol building. It’s a fun walk up! It zigzags across a hill, but there are many shortcuts you can take. The view from the top is nice. There is lots of parking and there are meters at each spot. Put some money in, but then noticed that nobody else did. There were no signs to indicate if it was free or how much it was. Wanted to use the park bathroom, but it was filthy and there was a homeless person with a needle. Walked across the lake and it smelled like it was rotting. Not sure if it’s the algae or fish or what it was. It looked pretty dirty. The trail to the Capitol was the best part of our walk.

Nice place to walk to and it’s very clean. When we went over there weren’t any homeless people roaming around that area

A great little walk to take your dogs for some fresh air. There are tons of ducks who act like they've been fed by people before and will flock to you so keep your leash tight when you see them coming. Also, be careful near the train tracks as they are in use.

Lovely scenery once you get to the right spots. I have got a ton of nice memories of this spot from walking with friends to taking calm strolls in the light rain. A great path leads right up to the Capital Building as well! Definitely give this spot a look.

A like to walk around the lake. Very relaxing. Much improved since the homeless encampment were removed. Felt unsafe when the camps lined my route.

Lovely peaceful park worthy of the Washington State Capitol. Great spot for photographs, dog-walking, biking, or just sitting on a bench. Lots of great cafes, restaurants, and stores nearby. Two nearby bridges will let you walk a lap around the small lake. Olympic Otter

Bring a picnic and enjoy. I am so glad this view is here. Lots of a walking trail and a peaceful location. Everyone was quiet and courteous. Would recommend for families!

It's OK. I'm old enough to recall when the lake could be used. That's the reason for only 4 stars. The sidewalk used to be better marked for the 2 mile walk from the restrooms on Water street to just past the restrooms by the Center on Deschutes parkway. The path around the lake has standing water any time it rains. And for the first time, this fall, I saw muskrats. Yea, it's OK. Like most things, it used to be better.

It's a nice park with plenty of room for walking, biking, picnics, or just for relaxing.

An incredible park as long as you can stomach other people, as it is in downtown. Love the atmosphere and the trail is incredible. There have been issues with homeless encampments at some points but i guess I'm glad they've got somewhere nice to be rather than being herded from place to place by OPD. Also, Lake fair is here everyear!

I love this place so much. There are many different animals -- ducks, geese, herons, squirrels, rabbits, and now otters! There is a family of otters that swim around the lake. One thing though -- there can be sketchy, weird, or unusual people here. I've been stalked and approached many times by those people, so please be cautious if you plan to walk alone. Situational awareness advised!

It's a great place to take the dog for a walk! There are hiking trails and a water park, restaurants, and the boardwalk is gorgeous! Lots of shops and things to do! The public restrooms are always clean, and there's benches and picnic tables, too. Events happen often, Hot Car/Trucks shows, Festivals, Food Trucks, Skateboard Park, and more...NATURE EVERYWHERE!

Beautiful park with a large pond in the center. It has a great walking and cycling path. I really like the capital building view in the background of the park. Really nice place for one day picnic in summer time. It is about 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Seattle.

It is a nice community park. Lots of green grass and Capitol Lake in the background. Be aware, you have to pay for parking in some places.

Great place to take the family and your pet for a walk. Also if you play pokemon go I would highly recommend walking in this area. There are some grass areas to have a lovely picnic and enjoy the view.

We usually come biking here and it’s great, awesome view of the capital building and town. Wish they could remove the parasites from the lake so people could go swimming in it again though.

A beautiful little park with amazing views of the State Capitol building. A pleasant, level path around the lake makes it an easy and enjoyable walk even on the hottest of days.

This park was amazing! We walked from the pier to the capitol building in about 40 minutes with our dog.

Absolutely Beautiful place for a stroll or a run! Most folks are friendly and there are lots of places nearby for coffee, snacks, meals, shopping, etc. In addition to the usual shorebirds like gulls you're likely to see eagles, herons (Grey and Great Blue), kingfishers, raccoons and maybe even beaver...

Good park on the edge of downtown. It is used by hundreds of walkers and joggers every day. There are public restrooms and parking on both sides of the lake. Street side parking is also regularly available. Virtually all of the trail is handicapped accessable.
