We have stayed at Fertile Ground Guesthouse 5 times in the past 4 years as our daughter has been attending The Evergreen State College. It is easy to walk to downtown Olympia to shop for tea and chocolate, to dine at restaurants and brewpubs or simply to walk. The farmers' market is not to be missed! The earthy decor and amazing community garden on the premises make the place incredibly inviting. The hosts are warm and engaging and quickly feel like longtime friends. Big breakfasts filled with fresh ingredients prepared and served with love keep us coming back!

Just enjoyed my fourth stay at Fertile Ground. No matter the season the garden is always full of beauty - and food. The home is charming and very comfortable and I have always been made to feel genuinely welcome. I tend to gravitate toward the big swing that hangs from the giant walnut tree in the backyard, but the second floor library is another favorite spot. Thanks again to the friendly and helpful hostesses. Breakfasts are great, too - healthy and delicious. I'll be back!

I love Fertile Ground Guesthouse and the Commons that surrounds it! These projects are run by people who are committed to long-haul approaches to food, commerce, community, design, and education. My family has stayed at Fertile Ground several times and notes that it gave them a deep sense of Olympia. The gardens, indoor and outdoor sitting spaces, piano, front porch across the street from the public library, sheets hung on the line—all make this place extraordinary. All three bedrooms are places I'd love to hole up on a rainy day (wonderful attention paid to bedding.) The gardens are paradise in late spring, summer, and fall. In a relatively quiet part of a downtown neighborhood, one can sleep deeply at the guesthouse but still be near enough to walk or bicycle everywhere. I hope many other businesses take notes from Fertile Ground and pop up in communities everywhere. This woman-runned place is very special. An unpretentious and yet socially and environmentally responsible hub where the community leaders of Olympia convene and create.

As a business traveler to Olympia, I found Fertile Ground a home away from home after my rounds of meetings. The rooms are comfortable, the service, food, and conversation are wonderful. Sitting in Fertile Ground's gardens is so helpful in reducing the stress of the day. I highly recommend Fertile Ground Guesthouse. Peace, Bob Davis

As Celiac's, we had a five star stay at Olympia WA's Fertile Ground Guesthouse. In addition to being knowledgeable (and accommodating) of those with Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance and Allergies, they are also Fragrance Free. Our time there was in early February. It was So Quiet at night. The home is on the Historic Registry and the grounds are full of gardens. If you are looking to explore the Washington State Capital and Old Town and see the south Puget Sound, each are an easy walk away. For adventures further afield, the Transit Station is an 8 minute walk away, the bus to and from the Olympia/Lacy Amtrak (the only all volunteer station in the country) is a few blocks from the Guesthouse.

The house is gorgeous and rooms are very clean and comfortable. I was really excited to stay here, it being my first time staying in a B and B and first time in Olympia. We arrived to realize that they had totally forgotten about the reservation I had made the previous week. Luckily the room I had booked was open and we stayed there, although we did not feel welcomed at all and were a little uncomfortable. There was no one around that evening or the next morning when we woke up. We were just about to head out the door when someone came and did not hide the surprise at seeing us. She offered us breakfast, which was delicious, but in the end I felt like I paid full price for a half price experience.

I found that the place is very hospitable for meetings and I have my occasional Sacred Harp singing here and it came with adequate lighting and affordable renting price. i highly recommend this place for those of you who seek to rent out space for a meeting. However, get ready to pay up to $40 a day for it.

For ground project is quite interesting in its own right, but the guesthouse represents the vibe of the surrounding area. Quiet and clean accommodations backed up by a very real sense of community.
