I visited Pioneer Park on a classic Olympia gray moist early autumn morning for the first time this October day. There were trails leading out into the forest and then following the Deschutes River. There were sections that were particularly grand with three canopies overhead. There were great lookouts towards the river. Very peaceful now but I’m sure at other times very populated. I happen to be there early in the morning which was especially nice. Quite a few sections of the trail though had not the usual gravel covering the trail, but I would say larger pebbles which made walking a little more tiresome so I found myself walking along the edge in those areas. I also noticed they were several picnic tables situated near the river. I could see there were sandy banks along the river that I am sure are crowded with summertime activities. I’ve often seen people disembarking floats along the river close to the edge of Tumwater Falls and wondered where they put in. Well it’s probably here at Pioneer Park close to Henderson Boulevard. At the parking area there were acres of open space and I believe softball field. For the sports minded. I’ll be sure and put Pioneer Park on my list of desirable parks in this area.

What I love the most: SO close to home. 15-min drive to well-maintained non-asphalt trails through wood and along the Deschutes river. What I don't love: In spite of signs stating dogs must be leashed, you'll need to watch for untethered canine friends running ahead of (away from) their human friends. I *did* hear the humans calling out to their critters, but really, that doesn't compare to an actual, engaged leash. Loose dogs aside, this looks like a great place to drift the river. Another really beautiful job by Parks people! Btw -- there's also a huge sports field complex and a kids' playground, on the other side of the plentiful parking lot.

I love pioneer park! It is next to the Deschutes River which is great to swim in during the summer, but it’s pretty during the winter as well. It’s in a nice quiet spot while also being convenient to get to. Great for picnicking or for taking small kids, the public bathroom is pretty good.

Beautiful small green park and well maintained! There is a small playground and picnic area with picnic tables. There are a lot of trash cans around and a clean bathroom. This is an excellent place for sports practices, and there are always teams there playing soccer.

This is one of my favorite places to go. There are many beaches to walk to and more you can float to. This is a great place to start a float down to Brewery park (formerly known as Tumwater Falls park) and exit. The water is super clean and refreshingly cool. Pets are allowed on leashes and it's kid friendly.

Nice place to launch a inner tube to float the Deschutes River. There's a big soccer field to run around and a play area for the kids. Not a lot of shade on this hot day. Lots if wild flowers too.

Super solid park for a multitude of reasons. Has three full-sized and well-maintained soccer fields with fairly clean public bathrooms. It also has a medium-sized playground with beauty bark for the kiddos. Also has a decent amount of walking trails leading down to the Deschutes river with their being 3-4 popular spots requiring less than a 1/4 mile walk to accessible river edge areas where you can relax.

So many things to say about this place. The trails are great although the rocks can be a little rough on the doggy paws. Once you reach the water, it's amazing. A few different spots to let the dog play in the water but I don't wanna give up my spots so you'll have to do some exploring to find them. Whether it's a walk, jog, or splash in the water, this is a great spot!

A sprawling wooded area with many interweaving walking paths also fun for bike riding with Dirt, Stoney, and Paved along some paths. Many fantastic spots by the river that's goes through it. A large Field area, a Playground, and... a baseball diamond or 2 i believe. One of my favorite parks to visit for walks. Always a joy to find cool mushrooms, flora, and the occasional rock art.

Absolute Gem! Tucked away beautifully behind the park, you will walk well cared for trails to a beautiful, welcoming, kid-friendly spot where you can lounge, wade, swim, and explore. We had the best time! Definitely recommend!

There are many walking trails in the park, most of them are gravel. The river provides relief from the hot summer days. During the fall, winter and spring the park is usually not too busy. In the summer it can be pretty packed and hard to find parking sometimes.

We love it here. Lots of places near the water to sit or lay down. It's a short walk from parking lot. Great way to cool down during the summer. The park is clean and many parking spots available.

Huge! Gorgeous! A great place for ANY of your park-day dreams. I come here to tan and read by the water, float the river, sit in the shade and get some work done, sand volleyball, or/and let my nieces and nephews play. The weekends and evening are extremely lively on nice days so if you are craving quiet, try to make it on a weekday, earlier in the day. If heading to the river, pack light-ish as the trail walk to get there takes about 10 minutes. Beware of off-leash dogs, unfortunately.

Not bad. Big, lots of well maintained trails. Well maintained fields. The play structure is needing some love and definitely showing its age, though not unsafe yet.

Beautiful day at the river. On hot days, this spot is very popular for tube floating. The only issue we had was that many of the tube floaters, not all, don't pay attention to children swimming. They were more concerned about getting their tube in the water and don't care if they run over your children.

Beautiful day at the park. The river was running fast but the trails weren't muddy at all. Clean playground and a blue sky. Just lovely.

This is one of the best parks on the area. It is massive. Situated on the Deschutes River, this park has many trails and places to explore. There is a large play structure. This park is kid and pet friendly. The parking lot is very large. It can get busy in the summer. There are often sporting events going on in the fields. Sometimes the ice cream truck or food trucks will stroll through during the summer months. The paths are both paved and gravel, but flat. If you decide to tube in the river please be safe as branches poke out and there are some fast areas. Great place to visit if you are in the area.

This place has a playscape, sand volleyball, baseball fields, soccer fields, paved trails, earth trails, river access, and more. My kids always have a great time here. Fields can be quite muddy during the rainy seasons. There are portions of the river you can float on sunny days as well! There are picnic tables and a covered picnic area as well.
