Wow, what a great loop trail. We saw so much! A ton of newts, mushrooms, birds, evidence of beavers, geese, and more. The flowers were starting to bloom, we found trillium. There was a really neat Grove of old trees that had been forested and so there were giant giant stumps and the kids had so much fun playing there for an hour in the middle of our walk. They called it the playground.

Cool and quiet place for a summer morning stroll. It's popular with families later in the day. The trails are well maintained and well used. Adequate parking for only about 15 vehicles. Restrooms are right next to the parking lot.

Beautiful walk! One direction path during covid, smart move! Several path options to shorten or lengthen your adventure! Dogs allowed on leash and bring your discover pass!

Easy walk to do with young children. There are a few different trails and a couple different loops (one with an alternate/shorter path). There are benches and viewing areas along the trails to rest at if needed. Public bathrooms and a covered area with picnic tables are both located near the parking lot and close to the start of the trails.

Always a great walk.. My only complaint would be that some people were walking the wrong direction. During this pandemic, it would be nice for the trail to have better signage than painted arrows on the ground of wood sections of the trail. There were a couple people walking the wrong direction, not wearing masks and that's a bit of an uncomfortable situation. All in all, still a beautiful walk 🙂

Gorgeous trails! Flirts with a small pond in the forest. Well maintained with some elevation change in parts but nothing strenuous. Trailhead parking is paved and well marked.

So much quiet, so close to home. Small but densely green, so it feels like you're the only ones out there around the pond. Plenty of maps posted here and there at the head, still I can see it might be easy to get turned around on this multi loop trail - I used Google maps to keep track since we just wanted a quick walk.

Really nice trail and connects to a nearby trail for over 2 miles of trail! Different landscapes and terrains. Overall, relatively laid-back hike.

This is a peaceful and quiet trail with plenty of tall trees, nature, and a pond with beaver dams. It is nestled away from the noise of the city but a quick drive out off of Delphi Road. There are two main trails and each is very easy even for a beginner or children. (One at.about 3/4 mile and one at maybe 2 miles) Watch out for the white flowers though. They have sharp nettles. A nice short afternoon walk.

This is a great place to take your kids to hike and enjoy nature without the long drive to get there. My 2.5yr old does the the pond loop with me in a figure 8 (1.4mi) and loves it the whole way.

This is one of our favorite hikes in Olympia. Whether you just complete the McLane Creek Pond Loop, Forest Loop, or combine them together (our personal favorite) you get a great walk through wetlands and trees. We enjoyed listening to and identifying the birds. While enjoying the ducks, we saw a bald eagle fly over. A great way to spend some alone time or time with others!

An excellent short walk around the lake or add a little extra and head on over to McLane Creek itself! Watch out for some wood platforms that need a little repair, though. All the way around the lake and out to the creek is only a mile and very flat, or add the connector and the forest loop trail for an extra mile and a half of actual hiking.

Discovery Pass required for parking. This is an absolute unique gem of a seldom accessible ecosystem. There are 2 loop trails which circle the tranquil beaver pond, the shortest one only 0.6 miles. A naturalist's paradise with a chance to spot beavers, turtles, newts, marsh birds and more, all surrounded by mossy old growth forest. This is a popular, close to town spot with narrow paths. While dogs are allowed on leash, you may enjoy yourself more without one.

15Mar2022 TUE, ~10:00 -till ~11:30, cool ~45_F, Swee and i had a leisure walk at McLane Creek Nature Trail: Lower Trailhead > Lower Loop > Connector > Upper Loop > Connector > Lower Loop > Lower Trailhead, ~2.5 miles. Not unexpectedly, cos of the recent wet weather, the Trails - sections of galvanized, steel, or wood walkways, or boardwalks were wet and there were a few muddy spots - all passable, but. as these could be slippery, please tread carefully. The Trails seemed well maintained and the surrounding areas were clean (i.e. no people's trash) 😅 .. And the Restrooms beside the Lower Trailhead were opened. Thank you DNRWA 👍 Saw ~8 vehicles at the Lower Trailhead parking when we arrived, and when we left. And encountered a total of 3 people and a dog - everyone's friendly and courteous. 😊 Enjoyed the lovely peace and quiet of the lovely green forest, and the beautiful Arts from Nature 👍👍👍 Cheers!

A beautiful maze of little walking trails that will immerse you in nature and allow you to recalibrate. Stunning forest at every turn, lookout points, other like-minded souls walking their dogs, water, ferns, the giant remnants of old-growth forest, everything sun-dappled or misty. If you want to lose your sense of time for awhile, McLane is a great place to let that happen.

Beautiful trail. About a mile long. Saw some families with little kids and dogs, and the salmon are here this time of the year. Also saw a school field trip

An excellent place. I imagine this is a delightful walk, year-round. The paths were all solid and mostly groomed. There was a partially trimmed tree along the path at one point. The scenic views were 100% worth the visit. This trail 2 small loops linked together, 2 miles for both the Forest Trail and Pond Trail. The Forest Trail is a bit more off the beaten path than the pond trail, bring your boots as there was plenty of mud, roots, and rocks. The pond trail was a little more than an elevated platform walking through a swampy area. The walk was easy, and I was stunned by how much life there was on a wet spring afternoon. This was definitelymore of a stroller-friendly walk.

Excellent loop trail! The trail is easy with flat, well maintained trailes. There are several accessible trails and boardwalks. It has something to offer in all seasons. In the fall, you can see salmon runs. Late winter and early spring will bring out reptiles and amphibians. Always a good place to birdwatch.
