I almost don't want to review this place... Lost Lake is one of the magical places in the world. The water is pristine, the views incredible, the general facilities exactly what you'd hope for. It's a true gem

Beautiful views! Fun place to get away with many options from relaxing on some floats, walking/hiking, or kayak/paddle boats. Bring a wagon to cart your stuff to a spot in the day use area, so helpful. Lots of mosquitoes, bring repellent. Weekdays are far less packed and easy to find an open parking and day use spot. Weekends can get full by 930-10am with only street parking, once that's full the entrance closes. The bathrooms have 0 lighting but they seem to be clean. We got lunch one day, the burger was okay, the bun to burger ratio wasn't great (too much bun/not enough burger) and maybe needed more veggies, fries were super good, crispy and flavorful. The smore's sundae was advertised as a 'special sundae' but turned out to be a milkshake, it was good, chocolatey and very picture worthy, definitely for more than 1 person. They have plenty of kayaks and other non motorized boat options for rent, the center of the lake can get pretty windy and choppy but it's so worth it for the views. We had a great time kayaking across the lake for a couple hours! One of my favorite places to get away and unplug from cell service and enjoy the views of Mt hood.

This was our second visit here! The lake is roughly 2 hours from the city. We've only come here to rent a canoe and fish and we've enjoyed our visits both times! Warning! Do not take hwy 26. It'll lead you to nowhere. ( Gravel road is what we heard.) Take 84 east towards Hood River and use your gps that way. Once you hit 281 you'll cross a couple train tracks and several upick berry farms. This Road is Windy for the last 30 mins or so and theres no lane divider. Get gas once you're at hwy 30 or else you'll be screwed. Arrived at 9am for a two hour canoe ride rental. Left at 11am before the Saturday summer rush! It was 60-70 degrees and a perfect! The lake is clean and calm. There's a Toilet stall and a General store right by the kayak and boat rentals. And limited parking on gravel. Get there early for a good spot. There's a Daily parking rate of $9/car. On your way out pass along your green pass to someone coming in for the day. And be sure to stop at exit 44 Cascade Locks for some ice cream at Eastwind Drive In! :P

My two adult daughters became separated from me as we were hiking down the Lost Lake Butte Trail. I found one but not the other. The "ranger" at the welcome center was very unhelpful. I finally walked to the General Store to see if I could find her and get help. The store manager and her daughter? were very helpful, and even took me in their golf cart to see if I could find my daughter. As a result, we did find her and they even gave us a ride back to our car. First class operation!

The lake itself is gorgeous… I wish the way it was run was a little more user friendly. You can no longer launch from the main boat ramp, so are left with using the south ramp which has very limited parking and is only access for all personal watercraft. The rest of the shoreline is claimed by day use camp sites…so there’s really no where you can just walk down to the water with a paddleboard etc. The little store has a great selection of swag and snacks…but ZERO prices on anything, so you don’t know how much anything costs until you bring it to the checkout. The bathrooms are also super sketchy and dirty. Of course the location suggests “rough” amenities, but we are bordering primitive here.

Whether just for day use or camping, you won’t regret visiting this majestic location. You can picnic, fish, swim, kayak, rent boats, walk the trails/waterfront, or get an ice cream at the general store, all are options. Just know that day use is $9 and fills up FAST, and F loop campsites (FCFS) are $34 plus each additional car is $15 for day/overnight. You’ll love it!

The bathrooms could be cleaned and updated once in a while. Even for vault toilets, there is no excuse for the darkness and lack of ventilation. They could maintain the trails around the picnic areas better. The day use fee goes up another $2 every Summer, yet the facilities seem to be falling apart. Decent pricing for watercraft rentals if you choose all day.

We've been renting a cabin here every May and summer for the last 6 years running. My kids love to play in the lake, go for hikes, go boating and fishing, and other general camping activities. Showers are available no-fee if you rent a cabin, which is a nice amenity. Pictures just don't do this place justice! A note that the day-use areas fill up FAST on hot weekends or holidays.

Love it. We camp here regularly and have our preferred camping sites. Most of the campsites are really well secluded by the dense wooded area. The lake is crystal clear. Everybody works hard to keep it clean. We usually camp for 3 days and will rent a boat for a couple of hours. There are plenty of places to hike, run, MTB, of just sit by the lake.

So, it's been over a year and I am still reeling about my absolutely disastrous trip from July 2020. They assured me that they had a lot of sanitary protocols in place which included an earlier check out to ensure the rooms were thoroughly cleaned. When we arrived and went to check in, they couldn't find our key. They gave us a spare and said, "we are not sure if it has been cleaned- will you go and CHECK and come back if it hasn't?" They asked US to go and see if the room had been cleaned by their own team. It had not been- dirty pots on the stove, messy bed, etc. They told us they could "quickly" do it but we told them we'd walk along their lake and prefer they did it. Needless to say, it was an uncomfortable night. Just long story short: the next day was even worst as we couldn't get out of the lake without hundreds of bodies swarming the area. No distancing, just absolutely madness. When I went to check out a day earlier the young woman at the counter asked me if everything was okay and I said no. She shrugged almost in agreeance that they were not equipped to deal with anything. I've done day trips hundreds of times over the course of 20+ years , but I will never do another night especially when I spent $241+ for 2 nights.

Beautiful lake and private campsites. We enjoyed our space in Loop C, the tall trees around you made it feel more secluded even though there were other campers around us. Vault toilets are clean and well maintained. General store has good burger and fries and the store itself has some fun stickers. Pricey campsite ($80 for 2 nights for a tent site, not RV site) but the amenities are nice (toilets, hikes, views, fishing, rentals, etc). Would definitely return!

This is a beautiful beautiful place with clear water and a postcard view of Mt Hood. The services are excellent. Boat rentals, ice cream, clean vault toilets. Note that there is no beach or open coast area. Not easy to navigate for the elder and alter-abled. On a hot August Saturday during Covid it was crazy full of people. If you’re there for day use, I’d recommend getting there before 8 to get a half decent spot next to the water and not have to park outside and risk getting a ticket. If you park outside you’ll need to walk a quarter mile in to the lodge area where most people are. Take a cart to haul your stuff, you wont want to loose your parking spot to drop stuff off. Get your boat rental early as they go quick but have a decent rotation, rentals seemed to peak 11 to 2, rates were $24 to $40 per hour, some with 2hr minimums. Def a place to camp and spend some quality time!

The friendliest lady and her little dog were working the store. The view of the mountain from the lake is wonderful. Bring your own kayak for now or try later in the summer, rentals not yet open because the dock is still underwater and there is still snow. 5/11/22. The general before says they hope to be renting boats on Memorial Day. Lolo Pass (exact name) was clear from Lost Lake area to about two miles from the northern exit of it where we ran into a foot and a half if snow. 5/11/22.

Wife and I stayed in cabine #2, for 2 nights. The resort was clean, the cabin was cozy, bed was very comfy. My only complaint was the bathroom...there was a line at times...but nothing too crazy. Overall a nice stay, beautiful views on the hiking trails.

We went up to hike around the lake. Beautiful scenery and sunny day. Only things to be mindful about is the opposite end of the lake from the Lodge is a rock fall that might be difficult for the 3-5 year olds or elderly. There are a couple sections that are more of a narrow goats trail and a bridge about a mile in on the SW side that is rotting, soft and slopes about halfway across. Only other issue we had was trying to avoid the stinging nettle that had not been cut back this season and over crowded the trail in a lot of places on the SW side about 1/2 mile to 1-1/2 miles in.

The views, especially from the lake, of Mt. hood were amazing. There is a trail that goes all the way around the lake and it's a very easy ~3 mile walk around. The camp spots were secluded, quiet, and well maintained/clean. All of the outhouses, except the one closest to the resort store were clean.

I almost want to tell you it's horrible...... But it's not.... It's beautiful... No motorboats.... Paddleboards and row boat rentals, yurts, cabins, campground, mini store... Trail all around the lake, little mini beaches on the east side... And on the Northside is a red bench with a view of Mt Hood you will remember forever...the road to the lake from Hood River is winding and beautiful..... If you are super adventurous, come off Hwy 26 at Zig Zag...Lolo Pass Rd.... Longggggggg way around, the road is iffy, not well marked...lol ... Closed for a good part of the year as well... Bring a map if you've never gone that way-NO CELL SERVICE.... paved-partially... Large holes that are DEEP, would not take a low riding car and then gravel for miles... But, this way is the most scenic. Views of the West side of Mt Hood are amazing, creeks, camping next to creeks, steep accession and then the downward spiral and then back up again to Lost Lake to enjoy the beauty that is Oregon... Don't forget to deep breathe the air.... The forest smells incredible.

Didn't realize that the cafe/restaurant is closed after Labor Day. Also the selection in the store was getting sparse, sandwich section was completely empty. Good walk from our yurt to the single vault toilet in the area.

We stayed in pet-friendly yurt E7 in the E loop while the rest of our party rented two lodge rooms. The lake, lodge and campgrounds are beautiful! The lake is very clear and mostly clean. There was a good selection of hiking trails - recommend the lake loop, butte trail and old growth trail. The downside, and why we all agreed we probably wouldn’t come back, is for a private resort we found it to be a bit too rustic, especially for the price. We also found it to be fairly inaccessible for the elderly or mobility impaired. The E loop yurts are a decent walk from the lodge and lake but it’s also a 300ft walk uphill from the E loop parking lot on a bumpy dirt trail into our yurt site. This may not seem like a big deal but to haul several wagon loads of stuff up to your site, paddle boards, etc, seems like a lot of work for $110 per night in a very basic yurt. There was also only one vault toilet and water spigot for the entire loop at the bottom of the hill. Oddly our campsite claimed to be wheelchair accessible - there is no way! While none of us rented the cabins it is shocking for the price that most don’t have a bathroom. The lodge rooms were nice enough but when factoring in the price seemed steep.

As expected. Nice little stay with no surprises and great views of the lake. No complaints.

One of my favorite campground in Oregon! They have a little bit of everything. We did lots of swimming, fishing, hiking, and rented paddle boards (expensive!!). They had great hiking right from the campsite, although no geographical of Mt Hood to travel outside the campground.

Gorgeous location! Boat rentals are pretty great. Campgrounds are loud and there isn't really anyone around to enforce the posted rules. Pit toilets only. Day use areas get really busy. We enjoyed our visit.

We stayed in the new cabin which was really nice. It has a nice big covered porch and lots of lighting. Parking space for 2 cars right next to the cabin. Sleeps 7. In the bedroom is 1 queen bed with a 3 bunk bunk-bed and in the loft are 2 twin beds. Everything was new and very clean. Has a wood stove. The store/gift shop is nice and has an espresso shop. Staff is helpful and polite. They have paddle boat and canoe rentals. Very well maintained grounds. They also have yurts for rent.

Stayed here for 3 nights June 29 - July 1st. We stayed in the horse camps the first two nights and in Loop B the Last night. The campground is absolutely beautiful and offers a lot of activities for all ages. We rented kayaks and went fishing and were able to catch quite a few fish! I will definitely be returning next time I am in Oregon! The only downfall is its $6 per person for showers and they are only open during the store hours. They should offer the showers at all times of the day and just have another way of charging for the showers. It didn't bother me though. I still had an amazing time here and would highly recommend.
